    Shout out to ClutchTamer getting some shine - INCREDIBLE product, less than $200 to get real deal $1000+ slipper clutch performance, and I'm not exaggerating. Get a pressure plate with the appropriate base pressure for your horsepower, sintered iron single plate clutch disc, and you'll have a drag racing clutch setup that will last for a while(can get a season or more out of a disc, but it all depends on how many passes you make, how much clutch slip you put in, etc.), be consistent, with a fully adjustable clutch slip rate, and works like a street clutch when you want it to.
    And, as a bonus, you adjust it right from the driver's seat, don't even have to crawl under the car like a slipper clutch requires. When you're going to drive on the street, just back out the ClutchTamer and you'll have a normal street clutch, no laying on your back removing shims to put more base pressure in.
    It makes a manual trans setup tire agnostic - no more being stuck with slicks just because you have a clutch. Because the rate of slip is fully tunable, you can make your setup dead hook off the line w/o bogging, exactly what radials need.
    Just wish MORE classes allowed them, it's the ultimate manual trans tuning tool for us low buck grassroots racers, it costs very little money while dramatically increasing consistency and tunability(not to mention it saves parts by removing the shock load of a clutch drop; have a stock T5 living behind a 400HP 306"W & in front of 275 Mickey radials with the CT) of a manual trans combo - yet you'll see them banned from the rules of some classes, necessitating a $1000+ racing clutch that's purpose built to fit within the rules.
    Obviously I can't say enough good things about the product, it just doesn't have any real downsides, and it works BETTER than most people think(Google it, you'll see lots of bad mouthing it as a "screen door hack" from people who have never used one - ESPECIALLY from the slipper clutch guys).
    As far as I'm concerned, the ClutchTamer is the manual trans equivalent of a trans brake. Save for some vintage-oriented classes(gassers and what not), it should be treated the same as a trans brake is in drag classes today. To not allow it is to screw the budget racer, requiring thousands to be spent on a manual trans combo instead of hundreds(I would have to consider my T5 a "wear item", swap it for a stronger more expensive trans, or run a $1000+ slipper clutch if I wasn't running a

    This Clutch Tamer sounds interesting, i assume it's for a cable? I will have to look into that. It's quite something these engines make that sort of power with stock cams and intake. I would imagine the Boss 302 intake and aftermarket cams could pick that up a bunch for a non-CS car.

    • @dj4monie
      @dj4monie 3 года назад

      Almost all the gains are the Clutch Tamer. Between the 60 ft and clutch slip, they are utilizing almost all the power available. Even the record 9.65@138 is still off a bit from optimal (9.56 vs. 9.65). Cams and Intake will help but the Tamer will get your stock combination down into the low 11's or high 10's on drag radials. Brentspeed ran 10.70's with a Clutch Tamer and a stock Gen 2 Coyote in a S195 that came with a V6, look on his channel. Stock engine, headers, exhaust, JLT intake, tuned on VP MS109 I believe.

      Every car in the Coyote Stock class runs a factory sealed Coyote, with a factory ECU and they all run the same tune per the rules. The ECUs get flashed at the track during tech and sometimes between rounds. They do run race gas and it certainly sounds like they are turning more RPM , so definitely more power than a showroom GT makes. You are correct. The factory rating is off by at least 100 H.P. It takes 600 Flywheel H.P. to run 133 plus M.P.H. at this weight. Also in cold mine shaft air the engine makes considerable more H.P. My firebird has been 10.04 at 133 in killer air and in mid summer in the heat would only run 10.40s at 129 M.P.H. The air intake adds 20 - H.P.

      What you’re missing is the ford fan boys club of greatly stretching the definition of stock. Let them bring their “stock” motor to a NHRA event and it will be show to be very unstock and the claim of the factory hp rating is 100hp short….sure thing.
