    Appreciate you talking about the exhaust mods in regards to which was more likely to "pass" an emissions test. I think that's a key factor for those of us considering these power gain investments while still trying to keep the truck "legal"

      Your setup would gain a ton of power from intake manifold porting (the boss has the most gains of all the intakes when ported imo) and some l&m intake only cams. The intake cams aren't as good as mustang cams on the trucks and the l&m intake only cams pick up 20 rwhp on a gen 1 mustang coyote sometimes more with the right manifold without losing tq. It might lose slight tq against the truck cams but if it does it won't be much. I bet ported manifold and those cams would get you 50+ rwhp it would really wake it up and make it hold power much better up top without falling off.

    So the insight is good, but I still laugh when people spout HP numbers when stalking about mods. Oh headers will add x, cai x, intake x. Hell if you add all of the numbers up you can ad 200 hp just with bolt on parts with out the tune lol. It just doesn't work like that. Unless you add a dyno video for each individual part, I'd skip the hp gains guess. A cai wont add 5 to 10 hp unless you retune the car, but wait, there's more. Adding a cai to the truck will decreases the flow restrictions, but if you don't decrease the exhaust restrictions, it want add any noticeable power. The two together will net you a slight increase of pwr, but if you don't pay 400 to 1500 for a tune, you want see it. But dynos lie! The best way to get the most pwr per dollar is cai, heads, cam, full exhaust, and a true tune. That can put up true worth the price hp numbers. But even then, unless you do all of the work yourself, you're looking at 10 easy if a shop does it.

    • @8020Media
      @8020Media  Год назад +3

      Duals - Not really sure what you expect? Why wouldn't we talk about HP when talking about mods, that's one of the biggest reason people buy mods.

    • @DualsPortvet
      @DualsPortvet Год назад +1

      I think I was pretty clear with my comment. Talking hp numbers is fine IF you can show the dyno numbers to prove support them. I’ve been around for a good bit. 5 to 10 hp gains by adding just a cai without a tune is pretty much BS. The ecu isnt going to change its programmed mapping just because you changed filters. In fact, without a tune you can lose power as your air to fuel ratio gets fucked. This I know as it happened to me on both my z28 and 5.3 Silverado.
      So my point is, talking numbers of individual parts can be misleading to guys that don’t know. Most of the time, if you do one mod, you won’t see the true benefits until you do another.

    • @8020Media
      @8020Media  Год назад +1

      Duals - In reference to this, "5 to 10 hp gains by adding just a cai without a tune is pretty much BS," yes, we meant to say with a tune. That is a mispeak on our part. Thanks for taking the time to share your insight and opinion.

    Old school thinking ! Nothing wrong with having fun however a bit of aged wisdom . 1 I'm glad to see the environmental testing gone and what a rip off to the American people that was ! My only big concern with upgrades are warrantys themselves and we know that more airflow is a good thing. The important thing here is the knowledge in upgrading a modern engine vs the old school V8s with out computers, and that was fun , still is. Much of what I've learned over the years that so many people neglect is oil changes and coolant intervals, and not taking care of the investment not to mention a knuckle head having all these modes and not changing oil. O.K. enough of the necessary stuff personally my experience with warranty companys will be to blame any thing upgrade to an engine to void payment so guys be careful with that one. And personally my 5.0 2017 runs and sounds pretty dang good stock. I use premium synthetic oil 5000 mile intervals and premium Shell fuels and I really appreciate the stock performance however a cold air bolt on sounds like a good upgrade to start. I suppose the point of the story is to weigh the cost vs horsepower and in the old days more HP more fuel and not so true today. I have a 2017 Lariat Fx4 fully loaded like a Platinum Edition but more. B.F. Goodrich Trail Terrains on 20s , Caribou metallic and shes a Cowboy Cadillac F-150 Crew cab. Old School sure enjoys chatting with the young guys , modified and hot rodding never leaves the bloodline and my STP hat is off to all of you.

      @@monkeeman9894not the ones we have in Florida. Every cruise night we have street cars with time slips and half are spraying. On stock engines people are spraying 150 shots without issue. They run a two range colder plug and the tunes roll out timing when the WOT switch is triggered.

      Bad info. Not everyone wants boost and you can make your coyote significantly faster while staying na and the mods are alot less than properly boosting one. It's not wasting money anymore than adding boost is wasting money. You have more gains from boost obviously but it's more cost too. Not everyone wants to be boosted I'm not sure why people can't understand this lol. Also stuff like a manifold and exhaust and cams can benefit you with boost too if you decide to add it later on. A car with those mods is gonna make way more than one without them running the same power adder and it'll make the extra power at a lower boost level.
