I have never been a truck owner, but I was sold on the aluminum body F150 for fuel economy and corrosion resistance. I wanted the most basic truck possible and looked for a 5.0 regular cab 2WD with 8 FT box, but couldn't find a new one left on a lot for the year-end discount. Settled for a 2017 XLT 5.0 supercab 2WD with 6.5 FT box. Looks like a basic white contractor's truck... no stripes, graphics etc. But the thing is *stupid fast.* It also has averaged 19.5 MPG during 38,000 miles, according to the average fuel economy on Trip Meter 2, which has never been reset since I purchased the truck new. The 5.0 seems to be reliable, durable and efficient.

I’ve owned tuned diesels and this thing bone stock is so much faster. From a dig it’s a little sluggish since it has the 3:15 gears but at any rolling speed this thing pulls away from everything. Mileage wise I’m getting 18.4 but the truck doesn’t even have 1000 miles on it yet and it lives in sport mode most of the time. The 5.0 and 10 speed combo is by far the best on the market right now

But the GM side really needed to be running the 6.2 if they hoped to have a snowman's chance in hell of running with the Coyote powered F150. The Coyote is one of if not the best engineered engines of the last 40 years.

I think a fair comparison would be the 6.0 LS these are dang good engines, our current company ride has 360K miles and is still running strong( I am not a Chevy man, I love the LS though that is one great engine.
Now for the brass tacks ,I want to run regular to save a dollar a gallon and which mods gave the most bang for the buck? I don't like racket and if I ever get a new truck it will probably be a Ford 5.0 or an EV believe it or not, that being said if any of the newer big three come under my scrutiny with a super deal that will probably be the truck hauling my carcass around.
I really appreciate when people can do comparisons like this without name calling and anger( I got over that crap a long time ago, its about "Rodding" improving your rig! Keep up the good work.
There used to be sponser biased dyno tests and such , I remember one time probably close to $1000 worth of aftermarket goodies on a camaro, sure it did a lot better headers, low restriction mufflers, jerked the stopped up convertor off, what they didn't do was compare it with a good tune with factory spec parts, if you sat down and analyzed the mods you could see for the benefit some were just gilding the lily. There has to be one thing usually that will give you the most benefit,I went through that with a Dodge Dakota CAI, low restriction muffler, fill every thing with synthetic, did it help? Not that I could see, the crappy muffler rotted off finally, didn't seem to make a bit of difference from the stock , which I reinstalled, took the foam element out of the CAI throw it away and put a paper Element back in , no performance loss, finally went back more or less to standard lube after the synthetic eat the seal out of my differential( cost $500 to fix).
So maybe a person needs a better base to start with, all I did was waste money.
The truck now has 114K and runs as good as it did new( reading the reports I am surprised the V6 is still running, so my Mantra is "Caveat emptor" and God bless you Guys if nothing else you have shown how good new trucks are.

That's gonna be my 1.0 build , my 2.0 build will be taking off my 33 ATa and switching to 31.5" all seasons to cut the tire weight in half , then install a ported boss 302 i take manifold. But the biggest difference will be regearing. Since I have a 10 speed, I can go crazy with gearing and I'm looking at doing 4.56 gears or 4.88 gears ⚙️ those pair with all the bolt ons and the ported boss 302 manifold, will keep it right in the 5500-6500rpm range. I'm hoping to build an 11 sec N/A 5.0 crew cab. Then maybe waaaaay in the future, ill find a used supercharger and make it a 9 or 10 second truck

@@evictioncarpentry2628 You probably have more knowledge on the subject than I do, but my understanding is that the new F150's have a super 8.8 rear and use 8.8" diameter ring gears unless you have the EB or 3.73 with the 5.0. Then you have a 9.75. I had a 2008 5.4 with the 9.75, but I believe they have now downgraded some F150's to have the super 8.8?
Edit to add...What I do know is that there are two different housing shapes in the new F150's and the ones with a 5.0 and 3.73 gears is larger than the one in the video. All the ones I've seen with the rear end in the video have 3.31 or 3.55 gears and are in 5.0's. The 3.5 trucks all have a larger housing.

You definitely can't beat the sound of a V8, trust me. But there's something about that EcoBoost that I LOVE when you open up the exhaust with a Corsa Extreme or Borla ATAK setup. Especially when you can hear the turbos going. -Zach

Stock Ecoboosts run 13.8? That's pretty impressive in it's own right but either way I'd think the mods performed to this Coyote only cut times by 2 tenths at most, so still darn impressive for a powerplant that doesnt have turbos.
