For most watch enthusiasts, Citizen is probably best known for its wide range of affordable quartz, solar-powered and mechanical watches. Watches like the Promaster series, for instance, have been fan-favourite models for years. More recently, the Tsuyosa collection made quite an impact for its honest yet compelling proposition. There is one collection that, however, delivers much more, the Citizen Series 8, which could be considered the brand's accessible luxury range. And a new member has just arrived, a contemporary and robust sports watch with integrated design, the Citizen Series 8 890 Mechanical Models.
Citizen expands the Series 8 collection with a modern and compelling sporty-aquatic watch. Crafted from stainless steel, it follows the trend of luxury sports watches, with a barrel-shaped case, a raised bezel, an integrated bracelet and a textured dial. That also means it’s almost automatically compared to other iconic watches in this category.

I don't understand why people are comparing this to the Royal Oak. Does AP own that polygon?

In my opinion, the structured blue dial also adds a bit of similarity. But there are enough differences to make it a reasonably unique design. Other brands, and by that I don't mean Pagani Design etc., also have watches that took a few inspiration from the Royal Oak. For example, check out the Laureato Chronograph 42 mm from Girard-Perregaux.

Tudor needs to start paying attention to whats happening with thickness of watches.
SS sports watch, 200m rating, sandwiched and under 12mm.
Those little flaws on Tudor watches like the thickness or the missing date function are completely on purpose by the Rolex SA. If Tudor watches were perfect they would be too close to Rolex watches for half the price.

Wel, it seems Citizen didn't feel the need to do so, as it still hits 200m without one. Modern tech goes along way, also in crown construction.
It's apparently although an Audemars RO diver and Gerard Perrigaux Laureato beater, especially the limited edition for sure will gain in the reselling value in 5-7 years thus far.

@@janez3316 sorry... there's something weird. The brand mentioned to us 995 Euros or 1,595 US Dollars, and that for the Blue model here... which is weird and makes an important difference. We've just asked them to confirm the prices again.
We had the confirmation about the prices. Both EUR 995 and USD 1,595 are correct prices depending on the market

Yeah, 10 years late to the RO-copy game and this is a clumsy attempt at that.
I would assume they were inspired by the success of the PRX. But every integrated bracelet sports watch gets compared to the PRX and RO recently. It's a good looking watch but not my cup of tea. There is a lot of good watches in the 1k category that I would rather have instead of this.
This comment reminds me when someone said Omega was copying Rolex for releasing Aque Terras in new colours just like Rolex did with the Oyster Perpetuals, .
@@TheGrenadier97 Go look at some Royal Oak Offshores (not the traditional Royal Oaks) and tell me that Citizen didn’t deliberately copy about half a dozen things from that particular model line.

Beautiful watch. Clearly got its design cues from Genta watches, but that's not a bad thing. I love the pricing as well, makes you not afraid to wear it.
I think it looks better than the RO. The bezel crown here is better integrated. I find the one on the offshore points at an awkward angle similar to the seamaster

Yeah, it's a pretty cool watch! We were curious how the gold-tone case would look but they weren't able to supply one in time for the video shoot and release.

If the common was was any smart, they wouldn't shop anywhere but Citizen for a watch. Its basically a high-tech watch making company that offers all the specifics and finishes of luxurious brands for 1/100th of the price.

It's somewhat weird to me that these heavy bracelet steel watches are called "sporty"? They are quite horrible watches to wear while doing anything sporty 😄 In my experience bracelets are horrible while doing sporty activities, maybe with an exception if they have a great on the fly adjustment clasp, and also are fairly light for a metal watch (preferably under 150g, or as low as possible really, with Titanium being a great advantage). The only way I can understand it is that the term "sportswatch" might be a relative term, describing how these pieces lie compared to mechanical dress-watches? In that their designs aren't as delicate, and that they have water-resistance and some other measures that allow for more non-dressy use. But I would never take one for sports specifically unless I could change it to a rubber strap first. Which is why it's a bit weird to me that integrated bracelet steel pieces are called sporty.
What is really the confusion here? It's the same thing as "dress watch". A gaudy solid gold rolex is not remotely appropriate for anything even slightly "dressy", neither is anything with a complication like a moonphase, and yet those are all called "dressy". The point is they take inspiration from dress watches the same way sporty watches take inspiration from sports watches. Nobody is selling this as a watch to do sports with...it's a fashion accessory

I find it a bit childish and uneven, I dont know why :-D I have a series 8 3 hander with date and that one is ok. this just looks weird. But it´s probably not a big deal in a real life since you wont be that close to the watch 😀@@Monochrome-watches

It is from the bezel sides.Bumper to bumper is probably about 47 mm.
