- In the wee hours of the morning on March 5, 1982, Robin Williams was looking to party. After doing an impulsive standup set at the Comedy Store, he found himself hanging out in John Belushi's bungalow at the Chateau Marmont. According to the book 'Wired':
"John greeted Williams warmly and sat down on the couch with Smith. Smith was delighted to meet Williams. She had seen him once at the Comedy Store, and he had put on a brilliant show. And here he was, sweet and low-key. From the instant Smith walked through the door, Williams’s discomfort increased. "
It only got more awkward from there. And the rest, unfortunately, is history.

Also there that night, Robert Deniro and Ronnie Woods..
That's a whole other rabbit hole.
Is that true?
💯 % True.
He was nodding on that H. These narrators are hilarious. 😆😆😆😆😆
i used to watch mork & Mindy/blues brothers (along with happy days). rip john & robin
Smith, btw, is the subject of the ‘Sundown’ song by Gordon Lightfoot. Gordon and Kathy dated on-and-off for several years.
wow. Did not know that. Now the lyrics make so much more sense.
Its a good time to go when they nod out lol
Yeah, no need to stick around for that!
Why is this suddenly popping up after all these years?
RUclips didn’t exist 40 years ago
@@DeathInEntertainment of course it didn't. I am just curious as to what brought it up. None of my business. Just curious
@@JJLewis-so1iq The occasion of our new podcast episode about Robin Williams.
@@DeathInEntertainment thanks. I'll have to check it out
This is just frustrating because I've seen pictures of Cathy Smith and she's a average woman. Like, not glamorous, but not as horrible as all that. At least, not to me anyway.
"A man died back there!"
"Yeah, but did you see the woman he was with? Yikes."
It could be revisionist with a bit more harshness towards her for killing him.
Being strung out on coke, heroin, and god knows what else is not attractive. I agree, she’s not a bad looking person in photos, but that whole situation was probably so out of place and ugly.
She was a junkie. You've seen her at her worst? Not likely.
birds of a feather, flock together. weak people, to much money, equal bad decisions!
True. They were all rich and loved doing drugs. It's hard to get off that train without a CRASH!
I do not think it is fair to blanket call them or any people who have addictions, weak. There's trauma, pathology, un-healed feelings ... .
Despite his drug problems, Robin Williams had a good heart- he picked up on Cindy Smith's character.
Robin offed self for lying about this story....prove that wrong
