I was so devastated when I was a kid that I heard of his passing. I loved the blues Brothers, 1941 and animal House. Just an amazing talent gone way too soon.
Scott. You are one of the very few authentic RUclips personalities left. Each of your videos is a real pleasure, a perfect mix of information and entertainment. I hope you never change. Keep on keeping on!
That was a dark day …. Years later Johns Mom , Agnes Belushi was my dads real estate agent in Chicago. Dad had a coffee with her & he told her the stories of us watching John in SNL & the blues brothers. She wrote a thank you note to us . RIP John you were an Authentic , Legit - Musician- Actor- Comedian
Hi Scott, Hope you're well mate. I loved John Belushi, he seemed like a rockstar even though he wasn't. I was very sad the way he passed Bob de niro and Robin Williams were both with him just hours before his untimely passing. It is also ironic how Chris Farley idolized John, yet he passed away the exact same way and at the very same age. RIP John Belushi and Christopher Crosby Farley 🙏🙏. From Liverpool UK ✌
I'm a little older, when SNL first came out until the mid 90s it was so good, launched so many careers but today a shell of its former self. We would literally watch the time when we were out on Saturday night to rush home & catch the show!
Growing up in the 70’s I remember seeing him on SNL. I was a fan of his Blues Brothers music. What put his talent into perspective for me was realizing he was on a wildly popular tv show.Had a very successful album and was in a hit movie almost simultaneously. Guess it’s true,a flame that burns twice as bright last only half as long.
He was my hero as a kid. He died right before my 11th birthday. I'd read his bios & knew the legendary punk band FEAR was his fave band when he died. I loved them too, being a teen punkster. A lot of people didn't know this before RUclips. I had a chance to see them in late 2000's in a club. I knew "Let's Have A War" would be their last song so I hid in the bathroom by the stage & timed it perfectly. When they walked off stage I walked backstage with them & their crew. I went up to lead singer Lee Ving & gave him a big hug & kiss on the cheek expecting to get totally stomped!😅 Instead he was the coolest mofo you could ever meet & he was surprised I knew about Belushi & him & proceeded to tell me stories over beer. Was a dream come true! Closest I'll ever get to King Belushi! RIP!🙏 🤘🌎❤
How sad, such a funny guy. Loved him on SNL, I loved him as the samurai. I'll never forget cheeseburger cheeseburger cheeseburger, the Olympia restaurant. I know he was so much more than SNL.
John Belushi, one of the best is all I can say! Loved, loved, loved him and Saturday Night Live too! Such a sad loss for Hollywood and the rest of the world. His death was one of those shockers where you just yell "NOOOOOOO!!" I think he started out at Second City in Chicago. So many greats came out of that place. I think John Candy did too. I absolutely adored John Candy. Another great actor the world lost. I cried when he died. Another "NOOOOO!" moment. Thanks Scott. You're the best Pop Culture channel on RUclips hands down and by far!!
Another great video, Scott! You always do amazing work. ❤ How tragic that the drug dealer (Belushi’s killer) heard him breathing funny but didn’t get him any help. I guess she was also too messed up to care. This is a lesson to people not to use drugs and to be extremely careful who they choose to hang out with.
You are right, if John Candy and John Belushi were still alive I think they both would have won Oscars by now and there is one more I think who would have won an Oscar if he was still alive and that is Phil Hartman. Thanks for the great story and video.
I was was a kid when I heard about his death but I didn't know who he was before then. You more what lead to his untimely death as you have other celebrities that have died. Most documentaries don't get into detail like you do. Very good.
I remember when I heard he passed. I was devasted. All that talent wasted on drugs. It was heartbreaking. He was flipping hilarious and one of a kind. Thank you Scott. This was a great upload honoring a wonderful comedian. 🕊️🙏❤️
Interesting fact, Tali Shapiro, one of the few surviving victims of the Dating Game Killer was living at the Chateau Marmont when he kidnapped her walking nearby.
Like many we're left wondering what we've missed out on by his early passing, such a great talented young loss. Thanks Scott, I'm sure he'd have been humbled with this most respectful video...
Scott this vlog and your kurt cobain vlogs really hit home with me cause I'm a recovering heroin addict and I know how strong the grip of addiction is. Thank God I'm sober now but it was hell. It's really a shame how so many people give their lives for their addiction. Love your channel scott and thank you so much and have a great day.
We loved John Belushi and still enjoy many of his shows and the Blue Brothers today. We lost so many great actors and band members so early in their life, but we still have their films, music and our memories. Thank you, Scott, God Bless. God, Country, and Family. 1776
I was in 7th grade the day I came home from school and this was all over the news. I was wrecked, I couldn’t believe it was over. I thought this had to some kind of joke, NO NOT JOHN NOT JOHN PLEASE NOT JOHN. Again, I was devastated..
Love it Scott. As I said before I learn so much from your channel and more importantly we get to see the locations all thanks to you. Your amazing. RIP John belushi
I loved him in blues brothers 💙 that's the film I most remember him in. I didn't know the story of how he died. Its really sad and he was young. I found this very interesting as always Scott. Keep them coming I love watching and listening to your stories. Love from West Yorkshire UK 🇬🇧 💙💚
I love your videos Scott! I’ve only just discovered you and I’m addicted already. I’ve always been interested in true crime and Hollywood stories - I’ll be visiting Hollywood in a few months from New Zealand. I could chat to you all day about all the stories! Looking forward to seeing more videos from you
Saw the Blues brothers live in Frisco at Winterland, New Year's eve 1978,79....they opened for the Grateful dead, and let me tell you Belushi and Aykroyd had the tightest band I've ever seen....Belushi was a force of nature!
Even though he was only here a short time, John Belushi left such an impact through his brand of physical comedy & over-the-top characters that had inspired so many others, like Chris Farley. There was a book, Wired by Bob Woodward, that was published after John Belushi’s death that examined his life and death. Like so many other comedians, those who bring us so much laughter, they are usually the saddest. The footage of the Chateau Marmont was great. What an amazing piece of old Hollywood that still remains. As always Scott, I appreciate you. Take care.
I remember where i was and who i was with when the devasting news broke , omg i was devasted , he was the best funny man and quite a serious actor , such a young guy taken way too soon , another notch for you Scott , your the best man your vlogs get to my soul , love you rip John Belushi
I was completely heartbroken. Animal House and the Blues Brothers are still my favorites. Blushing and Akroyd were a genius team! You do your videos with amazing respect. There's one channel like yours that I just can't get into, because he doesn't seem to really dedicate himself as you, and your friends. I love your videos with Ashley.
Great look at where the bungalow was. He was the best that ever came out of SNL, but the drug problem destroyed him like so many others. He was one of my Dad's faves. Love those original SNL seasons.
His death is one of those where you knew where you were when you heard. Huge SNL fan of the original cast. He is an absolute LEGEND. I love that you take us to these places where they lived and died. Strange that the hotel no longer allows filming. Sign of the times
John Belushi was so talented, what a tragic end to his life, taken too soon. You can't help wondering, if only he hadn't been hanging around with bad company. Chateau Marmont really looks like a cool old Hollywood spot, I hope to see it some day. Amazing stories that you mentioned, I'm a James Dean fan and I had heard he met Natalie Wood there. Great job Scott!
HI SCOTT,, THANK'S FOR TELLING THE SAD STORY ABOUT JOHN BELUSHI'S LIFE AND DEATH ,, IT'S A LEARNING BUT SAD MOMENT 33YEARS OLD.....SO YOUNG..PHOTO'S BRINGS BACK THE PAST HISTORY.. THANK'S FOR THE VIDEO...
What a beautiful hotel and grounds. It really was a circus with the media there. It's pretty bad when someone ( Cathy Smith) scares off people like Robin Williams who had probably been to some pretty wild parties☹️ Thanks Scott, great video. RIP John ❤️🕊️🌈
I love videos about the Chateau, there is something alluring that wants us to know more and more! Sad lost of Belushi breaks our hearts, I saw in a video how De Niro reacted and is all of us....THANK YOU for this video!
I was crushed when John passed. What a talent. My friend and I were crazy about the Blues Brothers so while in college, we dressed up as Jake and Elwood. We went in costume to see them perform in the bay area and they were INCREDIBLE!! Such a terrible loss of a true creative force. 💔
Loved him. Pity about his drug habits. Hate drugs. Always have done. Being in the Grenadier Guards and special forces for many years saved me from possibly taking drugs. We can never truly accuse people of being a druggy and stereotype them as we don't know anything really about why they become addicted to drugs but one thing is for definite and that is he was a truly great actor and put his negative segments of his life aside and we should love him for all the positives and beautiful movies he gave us to enjoy. Rest in peace buddy. We still love you. And now you are clean and free. Scott. You are great too buddy. Thankyou so much for this vid. Love to you too bud. UK.
I Remember when This Happened what A Great Loss! He was An Awesome comedian - really liked His Movies and His SNL Days. He was Far to young his Career was on the Uprise at The Time And He is Missed. RIP John Belushi 😔 Really Good Episode The Channel and Your Show is just Fantastic. Keep up the good Work SCOTT 😊👌👍🍁♈🍁
My dads favorite two movies of all time are The Blues Brothers and Caddyshack. He can quote TBB in full, almost. I remember the day of Johns death because it affected my dad pretty bad.
Love all of your videos Scott, so glad you did this one, I was 12 when I saw the news on tv about John passing, I’ve often wondered what he would be doing now, if only, thanks again for the great videos.
Loved John Belushi....he had a special kind of magic.....also sadly very self destructive. Remember feeling so sad about his passing in 1982...then a year later...Karen Carpenter. Cathy Smith passed away in 2020...she was 73. Love your channel, Scott...
I think your right if John belishi and John candy had lived they both have a Oscar both very funny very talented actors and both gone to soon . But I think John Belusji would be happy and proud that his brother and Dan make sure his never forgotten and talk about him to this day
Loved the Blues Brothers-laughed so hard! He definitely would’ve won Oscars had he not lived the fast life. I always thought he was much older when he passed away, to me he looked at least 45 in most of his later works, but that could be from the lifestyle he was living in Hollywood at that time. RIP John Belushi, gone well before his time 😢
Wow....Damn fantastic job done here, Scott, Thanx so much for this post!!!! You never cease to amaze, brother. Really......a fine post. Always love your edits and the respect and love is beyond surreal. Until next time....Take Care.
Seem like yesterday years go fast it’s sad that he had to die from drugs I wish people would get help so they can have a great life my favorite is blues brothers thanks for sharing ❤
@Scott on Tape. You are absolutely right about John Belushi being a good actor and probably winning an Oscar if he was still alive. Most good actors make great comedians. Jack Lemmon and Robin Williams for example.
I remember seeing the TV when they brought him out of the hotel on the news. I was 13. I knew who he was, though didn't know a great deal about him, it was mainly the Blues Brother's film. Living in England, didn't get to see him on TV in all his glory. Love your videos Scott. Interested in America a lot and Hollywood. Thanks mate. 😊 Blessings.
A legendary hotel for legendary people! A very exclusive hotel for the elite and the one place everyone wants to be a guest. Standing long before my birth, and will be there for years after I'm gone!
Elwood: "It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses." Jake: "Hit it." - The Blues Brothers 😎😎
Ahh knew the story of Belushi, but love that you added Morrison ,eerily similar! Also gone too soon! But such historical moments 😢❤ another great one! RIP!
I'm 40, so he died before I was born, never really followed John but I was a huge Chris Farley fan and I know Chris idolized John, sad that he died the same age and same way as John.
Rollin Rollin Rawhide! John was amazing in the Blues Brothers no doubt But let’s not forget His brother James is also a good and funny actor….. remember “About Last Night” with Rob Lowe and Demi Moore…. some classic lines in that film! 😎
I was so devastated when I was a kid that I heard of his passing. I loved the blues Brothers, 1941 and animal House. Just an amazing talent gone way too soon.
He was a fantastic actor. May he continue to Rest In Peace.
I’m quite sure there is no other choice?
Ever time this story comes about his death, it still hits hard. Such a naturally talented person we truly lost.
Him & Chris Farley both, tragic & funny as hell!

One of the worse losses ever. So many legends, gone way too young. Now I'd like to watch Animal House.
I was only 6 when John passed. His story is quite sad. He was so talented and so young.

Great actor, great man, great loss.
May John rest in peace 💞
Such a wonderful comedian and actor.
May he continue to rest in eternal peace.
He was like living a dream @ the time of his passing. At his absolute Zenith of comedy in 82. Was shocking but on the other hand not really.
Another great video, Scott! You always do amazing work. ❤
How tragic that the drug dealer (Belushi’s killer) heard him breathing funny but didn’t get him any help. I guess she was also too messed up to care. This is a lesson to people not to use drugs and to be extremely careful who they choose to hang out with.
Unfortunately, 911 was an option she didnt choose.

I’ve seen photos and read about the location but i never saw it so up close and personal. Thx Scott 👍🏼
That’s what I try to do with my videos , really lean into the visuals so my viewers can see these places the way I do. Thank you for watching !

I forgot my namesake swung from a drainpipe into the window in this hotel. Jim was a real Rockstar 💯👌
Another excellent job on one of my favorite stars!!👍✌
