    Much better idea to bolt it to the bumper independent of the headlight.

    • @VampyreX13
      @VampyreX13  4 года назад +5

      Noted, but at the time of installation, I didn't see any other good locations I could find to secure the hardware to. Next time I have the bumper off, I'll reassess where else the Quik-Latch can be mounted (if possible) and will do an addendum video. I think the main issue with using the bolt hole further back was the shape of the tC2.5 bumper didn't allow for proper alignment of the latch itself.

  • @123ElTri

      I haven't had any problems with my rear bumper yet, but I think my friend is having rear sag issues. If he decides to put one of these on his tC, I'll do a video for the rear bumper.

    • @123ElTri
      @123ElTri 3 года назад

      @Da Gr8one i had my rear bumper come loose cause its an aftermarket bumper that the previous owner installed. I fixed it by using a 2 part 3M superfast cartridge glue that I applied to the tab and bumper retainer. It seems like an odd solution but its reversible and will not cause problems if you ever have to remove the bumper again.

    Thank you D.A. My car is still almost new. The dealer got it to stay in for a short time, but, it's sticking out again! 19K$ Car, and the bumper's been sticking out since new. The dealer said "you must of hit a parking block?" No, never did. There's got to be an easier way to do this?

    • @VampyreX13
      @VampyreX13  5 лет назад +2

      Yeah, that's complete BS. I've read that some people really had to fight the dealer to get the issue fixed, but only a couple succeeded. This issue happens on various Toyota's due to the bumper clip design. If you install the latches, just take your time and measure and check multiple times before making your holes.

  • @Smitleyjd
    @Smitleyjd 4 года назад +2

    what if you bend the quik-latch bolt in the middle to angle it, to better line up with the angle of the bumper?
    would need to hold it in a vice on the nuts, so you don't damage the threads.
    I might buy one of the cheap knock-off sets (doesn't feel right to do this to the legit one) and try it.

    • @VampyreX13
      @VampyreX13  4 года назад

      If you bent the bolt, then you wouldn't be able to remove the nut the uninstall the latch if you need to. It doesn't matter if you damage the threads or not. You can test this with a normal bolt. You also risk the chance of breaking it or having it rotate at the wrong angle when you try to pop the bumper back on.

    • @VampyreX13
      @VampyreX13  3 года назад

      No, because you would need to also replace your headlights along with the wiring, your hood, hood latch, crash bar foam, radiator support trim, upper and lower grill, fog light trim, and front emblem. The hardest part will be wiring the headlights, especially if you live in Canada and have an automatic DRL requirement. You could try replacing the clips first and see if that works first.

      @VampyreX13  3 года назад +2

      If the stud and latch are lined up, move the stud out a little more until it will latch, then adjust it if needed. It's best to do this mod when it's warm out so the bumper will flex. Since it's winter, try using a heat gun on the plastic to warm it up first.

    He's either over talking this or this procedure is a huge pain-in-ass, other alternatives
    are out there.

    • @VampyreX13
      @VampyreX13  Год назад +1

      It's not a pain, but you need to be very careful about going through the whole process lining up things. I had to try to fix someone's attempt to install these because they didn't properly secure the studs before marking the indentations on the bumper. The holes never quite lined up, and even upgrading to a larger button didn't fix it. That being said, yes, there are other solutions but they usually require also drilling into the fender which is much more expensive and harder to replace if you change your mind or mess up. Also, a lot of ones I see out there use thick rubber bands which overstretch or dry out and break frequently.

    • @hlopez3975
      @hlopez3975 Год назад +1

      The procedure isn’t to hard if you have the confidence and know how on doing things like this. Patience is key for sure.

      Unfortunately replacing the bumper clips or bringing it to the dealership to have them fix it yields no success. It's just a common issue with this car's bumper. At least the Quick-Latch only requires making two holes in the (more easily replaceable) bumper instead of those ugly rubberband ones that have you make holes in your fenders as well.
