  • This is the first of a 5 part Somatic Yoga Shorts video series to learn to locate and strengthen and release the deep muscles of the core. If you are not familiar with the "Pelvic Arch and Curl" or do not have the ability to sense deep core muscles, please do this simple video first to find and feel them, as the movement is foundational in the next videos to strengthen the deep core. Part 1 introduces you to the twins - the transversus abdominis and pelvic floor muscles. This video will take you through the movement of "Pelvic Arch and Curl" in order to engage and release these muscles.
    All of my Patrons will have access to a private full length video that includes all 5 of the Somatic Yoga Short videos. Additionally, if you sponsor me on Patreon at the $15, you will receive PDF's with photos and descriptions for each of these movements. Thanks Patrons for keeping me going!
    Part 2: Abdominal Bracing for the Transverse Abdominis and Pelvic Floor Muscles
    Part 3: Deep Core Strengthening with March, Toe Dips and Pedal Press
    Part 4: Oblique Strengthening
    Part 5: Side Body Core Strengthen with Multifidus

      Thanks Anne Lise. They are so basic in some ways but take focus and heightened awareness of the PF and TVA’s.

    Hi meghan, is regular somatic practice's enough to eventually more or less keep ypu stable or do you recommend doing weight bearing exercises of these regions also? If yes, which weight bearing exercises you recommend to strengthen these 4core muscles?

    • @MeganMacCarthy
      @MeganMacCarthy  Год назад +1

      Hi Laoise, I do the somatics to make sure everything is working first in the 4 deep core (and all else for that matter!) but I also do plank poses, bird dog, and more traditional yoga postures for strength…especially important with aging.

      @@MeganMacCarthy thanks for the reply. I'll make a note of them. I'm practicing your somatics almost every day and I am noticing a HUGE difference... My body feels more spacious, I have less 'clicks' in my neck when I turn it to the right and my shoulder and neck are less tense. Thanks soooooooo much!! I'm determined to address all my old injuries and fix the tensegrity of my body with all your amazing videos. Be blessed ❤️❤️❤️❤️

    It's so odd because I cannot feel my muscles contracting. They're soft at the touch.

    • @MeganMacCarthy
      @MeganMacCarthy  Год назад +1

      If you don’t feel them contract, see if you can feel them release. Either one is the feeling of movement.

    • @emmaeIIe
      @emmaeIIe Год назад +1

      @Megan MacCarthy I can feel them release. It's so subtle. It's almost imperceptible.
