The Horsemen were never the same without him. Flair was arrogant but likeable, you always respected Arn, but you always wanted to see Tully get his ass kicked.
Thanks Hannibal, Tully is overshadowed! Discovered this guy on AEW, the horseman were before my time. I grew up on WWF! But man this guy had a physique!
Tully's 100% right about Philadelphia. I grew up in Philly and used to go to some of the house shows there as a kid and some fans would cheer them. Philly was definitely Horsemen town.
Tully still looks good, one of the smartest ring generals of all time. He didn’t have any weakness. I enjoyed you as the greatest world TV Champ and United States champ of all time.
The "Tully strut" was one of my favorite things in wrestling back in the day. The sheer taunting nature of it was hilarious. I usually hate that type of behavior in real life, but in wrestling, it was perfect, especially if you were a Horseman.
I remember my parents taking us to watch Southwest Championship Wrestling at the Memorial Colesium in Corpus Christi, Texas in the 70s. Tully Blanchard and Gino Hernandez were the best.
Philly LOVED the Horsemen! When we went, dressed in suits for wrestling to root for the Horsemen, we always had a lot of people with us, just as we had a lot of people against us. It was ALWAYS fun.
back in the mid to late 80s i was a huge fan of the 4 horsemen. i went to a few matches live and remember getting iced thrown at me for cheering them. even so ... tully was the one i HATED. he was the perfect heel. gotta admire and respect him.
I was theee perfect age when this all went down.. I dunno what years it was. but somewhere between 1983-1988. so I was 11-16 years old....good times. **I remember watching GoldenGirls from 9-10pm on Saturday nights then WCW at 10-11 when Tully Was TV Champion/Four Hoursmen,,,, Then my Favorite was 11-12midnight Florida Wrestling with Kerry Von Erich,CHris Adams and I forget the rest. But I loooved the Florida version of WCW.. *The WWF was on fire. I bet I still have those "Pro Wrestling Illustrated" magazines from 1982-1987 when I collected em. proabably in my moms attic in a box with Thrasher Skate magazines..lol Thank You Tully Blanchard...
He was great as a heel. I totally despised him as a character. Reality he was probably a wonderful person in real life. But he was so good at selling it you couldn’t stand his wrestling persona. He was like the obnoxious sports star in your youth.
He still is. Easily one of the bezt heel managers in the biz today. FTR has really blossomed under his tutelage as a tag team. Tully is a consumate professional.
That would've rocked. Gino was made to be a Horsemen and they could've turned him face later. Gino gets bigger than the Horsemen and they jump him and fire him. Gino turns face and tags with Magnum against double-A and Tully. or maybe he demands a shot at Flair's belt.
Tully is humble here. There was a serious segment of the men wrestling fans and sporting fans alike that were real Horsemen Fanatics! It's was the best 👌
People appreciate how good and important to the success of the four horseman Tully was . At the time I couldn't understand him but after the Magnum TA matches he won me over . Had Magnum ever won the NWA title I would have rathered seeing Tully chasing the champ than Flair .
As FLAIR WOULD SAY LOUD AND PROUD..." BRIGHT LIGHTS- BIG CITY- PRETTY LADIES KEEP THE CHAMPAGNE ON ICE...DIAMONDS ARE FOREVER...AND SO ARE THE HORSEMEN...WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!
@@1EVILZ06 decent charisma with a lot of presence but their matches were just blah. All they did was outmuscle guys because they had an extremely limited move set and no in ring psychology.
Very seldom do people keep their voice with age,Nice. I swear I can’t tell the difference between him and pat militech. That is probably why I always felt like i knew Pat’s voice. He sounds like Blanchard!!! 100%
He and Arn had such great chemistry together as a tag team. IMO they were the driving force behind that group because they could put on great matches. If Vince were smart, he would bring Tully in part of the creative team to work with the newer talent.
As Tully eloquently expresses the truth- professional wrestlers of that era strive for great performance. They are consummate professionals and that is precisely why they have star power.
Wasn't a Tully fan growing up but looking back now at his promos and his in work matches with AA he is so underrated. Look up his match against Dan Spivey. Tully held his own and never backed down in almost a semi shoot . These guys will never be duplicated by todays bunch. Just not the same.
good to see Tully again. he looks at lot like his dad joe Blanchard. I really remember him from southwest championship wrestling out of San Antonio Texas when i was a kid. donnie. S.A ,texas
I bet you have a lot of wreasling knowledge if you remember Tully's dad . Nice to know others with knowledge of this great sport. Most people just remember what is going on now.
The 'clarity', the ability to articulate, and thoughtful nature of 'shoots' from Tully Blanchard and Lanny Poffo really give credibility to their perspective and opinions. Great interview.
Don't be sorry for stating a fact. Without Tully the Horsemen did indeed suck. With the exception of Pillman, but Tully made the Horsemen go without a doubt. Tully Blanchard is Awesome. He was the blasting cap of the Horsemen. 1985- 88 don't happen for the 4 Horsemen without Tully!
I liked Luger......on the mic. He fit because of the look (DEFINITELY nit the work). IMO Windham never was a heel. He never wasn't that great on the mic, but his matches were historical (favorite of all time was him vs. Flair for the title. The one that went for 60min)
Oh man! Tully Blanchard dosen't even resemble the guy I remembered from the Four Horsemen, or when Tully and Arn came to the WWF for a short while. I used to really like the guy (Slingshot suplex 4tw!) but if I passed him on the street I would never have recognized him. :(
Flair is great. And got the majority of the attention. Tully and Arn are two of the best to ever work in the ring. Both are very underrated by all except true wrestling fans that can appreciate how good they really were.
Great interview.
Todd Clark seeing this interview Tully is a very nice guy !
Tully mentioned the businessman in the airport flashing the 4 fingers. Today's wrestling has lost those fans
Nell Bowie today's wrestling is nowhere near as good as it was back then.
Robert bishop people hate evolvement
No Truth, people hate suckitude.
That's why I'm here. Reliving the best days of PRO wrestling. WCW(NWA) ruled, as well as the territories that I can
now see what I missed.
Sadly true.
Shawn Michaels said it best: “Tully Blanchard was the coolest bad guy ever.”
R.I.P.: The Snuggery.

The Bad Guy.

That's what he said on the WWE DVD 📀
Tully was a fantastic wrestler and talker. I have no idea what some of you have been watching. He is also a true class act.
Tully Blanchard was one of the great bad guy wrestlers of all time. I loved watching him as a kid. Very smooth, very charismatic.
I grew up watching NWA in the early 80's and I loved the 4 Horsemen! Ric, Arn, Tully, and Ole with J.J. Dillon, they were never better!
I also grew up on wrestling in the 80s i watched WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP WRESTLING ON Saturday i loved the 4 HORSEMEN
I grew up watching the Horsemen too. I preferred Barry over Ole though
Awesome interview!! Great story by Tully going through o'Hare airport and a business man throwing up the four fingers. The Horesman are Legendary!
My high opinion of Tully has only improved over the years.
He was one of the greatest heels ever in the business.
I could listen to Tully Blanchard talk all day...
Flair was the leader of The Four Horsemen but Arn and Tully was the heart and soul of the group.

Ric, Tully, Arn, Ole managed by JJ
The original four horses.
Diamonds are 4 ever and so are the 4 HORSEMEN
The Horsemen were like Kellogg's Corn Flakes. The original is still the best.
Imagine if Gino Hernandez lived and Tully brought him in after Ole stepped away!

Blanchard said it was cold when he started in Kansas City in December of 1983. He's right. It was 20F below with 70 below wind chills in Dec 83 in KC.
Tully's barenuckle bouts with Ronnie Garvin defined the greatness of the era.

The older I get, the more I love Tully!!! $ Horsemen Rule!!!
Tully Blanchard was the greatest wrestler in the 80s
Tully you rock man! Hope to see ya again soon.
Tully Blanchard was/is that "Horseman" who was that fierce "Pitbull" who put the t in tenacious and tough.
Tully was so good at what he did that I hated him through the magazines exclusively as I was in NJ and didn't have cable.
TULLY BLACHARD WAS GREAT MEMBER OF FOUR HORSEMEN !!!
That's right the Horsemen worked cause they were a great force for Evil. It was a miracle if you beat them. And you hated them more.
One of the greatest heels ever
I was in Greensboro Rules NWA I
Tully Blanchard was the lil enforcer for the Four Horseman. Long live Tully Blanchard.💪
kelly carlson Arn Anderson was the enforcer hence his nickname lol
It was awesome back then
80s Tully would kick today's Tully's ass just for using words like "neat" and "nifty".

My dad said the 4 horseman were the greatest, he wasn't a big fan of Lugar, but he said Tully, Arn and Flair were top notch
The best incarnation of the 4 Horsemen in my opinion were Flair/Arn Anderson/Tully Blanchard and Barry Windham. Luger sucks.
I liked Luger......on the mic. He fit because of the look (DEFINITELY nit the work). IMO Windham never was a heel. He never wasn't that great on the mic, but his matches were historical (favorite of all time was him vs. Flair for the title. The one that went for 60min)
Luger really does suck in real life, he was a drug addict who beat on woman and he took his wrestling persona into real life.
+perrylx I say the same . Windham was never a real Horseman because he couldn't work heel . No one wanted him to be a heel
how about when he came back in 1990 and attacked sting and luger? that was exciting
Tully has aged well.
