To me, the Horsemen were never the same post-Crockett era. Those first 3 versions were great (Windham version being my favorite followed by the originals then the Luger version). Every version after that was a shell of its former greatness.
100% fact. I've always felt the same way. The only TRUE version of The Horsemen to ME is Ric, Tully, Ole and Arn. 2nd being Ric, Tully, Arn and Luger. Last but certainly not least the version with Barry. Any other version is a fake, pathetic, copy of the Horsemen (Remember "Horseman" Paul Roma, people?).
I used to love watching Mr. Blanchard defend his television title. He had such a "selling" style. He could wrestle with the best of them yet he could sell the crap out of getting by by the skin of his teeth. Those were such wonderful times to be a wrestling fan. Especially in 80's when I still thought wrestling was 100% real.
@@MortonT1958 Well said. I mean I hated the horsemen yet as a kid I still had something in the back of my head that respected or was in awe of them at the way they performed on the mic and in the ring. It was so different than WWF. There was an edge that made things so exciting. I liked both organizations but I loved NWA/WCW. However where I lived it was primary a WWE territory on TV. I had to seriously play with my family TV rabbit ears to tune into the Baltimore stations to watch NWA.

I know nobody likes him personally, but Ole should have gone into the HoF as one of the Four Horsemen. He, Arn, Ric and Tully are the ones I think of when I hear "Four Horsemen" in wrestling.
He is in the NWA Hall of Fame. Marks really need to stop putting any worth into Vince's "Hall of People i like and who are willing to sign a contract" crap.
In the Spring of 84. WaHoo and Tully ganged up on Flair. It was the beginning of the Flair vs Tully program that was nixed . The Horsemen soon followed. Id love to hear Tully on that.
The version with Barry in ‘88 was the best version of the group overall I think. I mean Ole was part of the original group and he definitely had a real mean streak to him that none of the others could really measure up to. But I still think that Windham made them the best. Pretty much everyone seems to hate Luger as a Horsemen. However I think he gave them that element of muscle and powerhouse strength that was unique for them at the time. No he wasn’t the most ideal choice and/or fit for the group but he wasn’t nearly as terrible as he’s usually made out to be.
Without question, the best version. However, the final incarnation was not too shabby, even though it was short-lived, either, I must say(Malenko, Mongo, Arn, Ric, Benoit)
The Ole version of the Horsemen seemed the most lethal- like they didn't just want to win, but hurt people and end careers. The Barry version were probably the better in-ring version due to what Tully said- they could work anyone's match. Also, Arn was more seasoned, as well. Barry was younger and in better condition than the aging Ole. The Lex version was really just to get Lex over, as he had the look of gold, but was only brass in-ring. It was better when he faced Horsemen who knew how to make him look good. As they did with Nikita before that.
Tully and Arn had the tag belts with Luger in the horsemen also. Luger and windham won the tag belts from arn and Tully at the 1st clash then the switch happen. It was like a 6 month story that was riveting. At the time nobody thought Barry would turn.
There's a Von Erich movie out called The Iron Claw with Ric Flair being played by Aaron Dean Eisenberg. There should be a 4 Horsemen movie, keep Aaron as Ric and cast the other Horsemen and wrestlers associated with them in the 80s. Jack Black would make a good Dusty Rhodes, Chris Hemsworth should be Barry Windham.
At 8:26 Tully was asked Ole being in the Horseman WWE Hall of Fame. Ole Anderson called Vince’s Wife Linda a “Bitch”. Vince vowed to bar Ole from wrestling.
Tully served under a pastor named Loran Livingston and that dude meant business. I used to listen to tapes from his sermons and they pumped a dude up to kick some evil ass......
The first group with Ole was the most ferocious and dangerous. The group with Barry, the best. Lex was transitional. It was never close to the same after Tully and Arn left. Short-lived but people are talking about it constantly 35 years later.
Great to see Tully Blanchard, if you ever have a chance,, ask him about Rapido Rodriguez and whether the modern Spanish announce guy/team was invented in Southwest championship Wrestling. Did wrestlers tell announcers what to say or did Steve Stack and Rapido conference between them? It was clear that they basically said the same thing (if you were bilingual and understood both)
My favotite version was Ric, Arn, Tully, and Barry. All outstanding workers that could have great matches with anyone. However, the Ric, Arn, Benoit, and Pillman version was very underrated. P.s. Tully is not bringing much to the table in these interviews. Either he doesn't remember much, doesn't know, or doesn't care.
Lugee worked better as a horseman mark/associate, Sid and Mongo McMichael would've worked better as bodyguards for the horsemen. Pillman didn't work at all. He did fit as a member of the Hart Foundation faction. He gets a bad rap but Paul Roma actually DID fit. The Pretty Wonderful version of Roma would've been an even better fit.
I stopped watching wrestling in the late 90's early 2000's as I just lost interest in it, so to see these interviews with all these dude's that I grew up watching as a kid is pretty awesome. Making me feel old af but pretty awesome nonetheless.😆

I always thought ut would have been great to have Tully usurp Flair and lead rhe horse men. Tully vs Flair as the main event of Star cade 87 would have been better than Garvin v flair.
The Wahoo / Tully against Flair angle never gets mentioned . Lex always was a better on screen Horseman then Barry only because I never believed him as a heel . He had like a Ricky Steamboat thing . Great worker of course. Then they missed the boat with Tully returning n not putting the Hollywood Blondes in later .
Some reason like Lugar version Ole was barely with them . Barry version lasted few months. Most underated was Pillman , and Benoit. It had lot of potential.
I can't disagree with Tully on the best version being the one with BW. But because the one with Ole was the original, I'll always put it up there with the BW one. I realize Ole was never easy to work with, but to me as a lowly fan that was the best one.
Agree with Tully, original was good and Ole was on the downside but Luger, although a GREAT heel later, was not a fit in the Horsemen so he was decent as a Face fighting the faction but at that time, they really needed another amazing face beside Dusty but Big Dust would squash those who were infringing on his popularity, causing the downfall of JCP
Lex Lugar was all for himself. He was like that in FL. In FL he did an interview saying he should be the #1 contender since he had the fl belt. But Barry was the #1 contender. When you are in a group sone got to give a little more. Lex did not seem like that type.
I like the original 5 (with JJ) the best...yes Barry was a better worker than Ole, but that mean ol bastard, was...mean. Ultimately, Ole was a better heel. Luger was there to hide his greenness, after that...there weren't anymore Horsemen. Luger did get better over time, but Crockett era Luger was very green still.
..didn’t know about the Lex/Dutch thing..I guess that’s the reason he didn’t like Lex when Dutch managed the real life SS brothers..& btw Lex was right...

I know why Tully wasn't brought back to the WCW after a failed drug test in the WWE. Why wasn't he brought back at a later date? The Four Horsemen could have reformed in the mid nineties. It was like Tully was blackballed.
Bo Bo Brazil was known the world over. There are videos where he returned to Florida in the 60’s in an interview with Gordan Solie. Ric Flair was the NWA champion. He wasn’t a star up North.
