    • @NYCJoeBlack

      I owned Super Double Dragon initially released in 1992 and sold it to buy more games. Decades later, I wanted the game back in complete-in-the-box. After over two years of searching on eBay, I found someone selling the game that hit all my check boxes: Excellent Rating, excellent condition, CIB, pricey, but not too crazy, and shipping was free.
      I was beside myself when the package arrived!!!!
      Now, if I could just get a CIB Mega Man X, Mega Man X2, Nega Man 7, and Mega Man 2…

      @@NinjaxWizardGoVroom - That is another game I got off eBay. I never owned Castlevania IV originally as that game went over my head at the time. I only like main characters equipped with swords and/or guns. I assumed that the main character in CIV equipped with a whip would somehow disrupt the game play in a way that makes me not want to play it. Not sure why I had that mindset, but it was corrected as I grew up.
      When the Castlevania series began to pop up on the Game Boy Advance and Nintendo DS, is when I was converted into a fan!

  • @inceptional
    @inceptional 5 месяцев назад +1

    Yeah, that looks like a pretty solid list there. Interestingly, there's more SNES beat 'em ups on that list I'd rather play again today due to how well the hold up, with Turtles in Time on SNES being a highlight, but Streets of Rage 2 is right up there too.
    There might be a few Genesis examples missing that I'm not noticing that aren't there, but I can't think of them just now.
    I think Ninja Warriors for SNES really should be up there too though. And probably Iron Commando on SNES as well (just wish it wasn't so frikin' punishing).
    PS. I tend to think of "beat 'em ups" with swords and such, like Knights of the Round and King of Dragons or Golden Axe, more as hack 'n' slash.
    That reminds, the Golden Axe games on Genesis aren't here (since you count them as beat 'em ups). Neither is Alien Storm for that matter.
    PPS. I just have to say that I personally think the manual double directional tap method for dashing on SNES is much more satisfying and actually intuitive than holding a button to dash. The action of pushing twice in the direction you want to dash just matches much better to the action you want to perform than holding an arbitrary button down imo. So I think the SNES actually has the edge there. But each to their own.

      The Rushing Beat sequels are pretty good, I just wouldn't consider them as being among the best. Same for Ninja Warriors, it's just a bit too slow. If I'm going to play a strictly 2D beat 'em up, I reach for Comix Zone or Mutant Apocalypse.

    What an excellent list of games. I've searched youtube for lusts of beat em ups and they are usually are common repeats or sometimes other genres are mixed in. This list is nice and focused.

      @@MadPanicGaming I'd prefer it not revisited by SEGA. With their bad habit to slap Denuvo onto single player games and price stuff outrageously high, I'd prefer their hands off of it. I loved Comix Zone, but SEGA seems to hate its players.

    I would consider Comix Zone a side scroller action game.

    • @MadPanicGaming
      @MadPanicGaming  5 месяцев назад +1

      It's a bit of a gray area but I'd say Comix Zone still counts as a beat 'em up, the core gameplay is beating up bad guys while the other gameplay elements are secondary. Someone suggested The Adventures of Batman and Robin on the SNES, but that is a case where I'd say it's more of a general action game than it is a beat 'em up.

      Never really cared for Battle Toads honestly, on any platform. I find those games to be more irritating than anything.

    I love the Neo geo Aes, but beat um ups were poorly represented on the system,so no surprise to see any of those games on this list.

    • @MadPanicGaming
      @MadPanicGaming  5 месяцев назад +1

      I love Mutation Nation, but I don't consider Neo-Geo games to be 16-bit, they're arcade games.

      @@MadPanicGaming Fair point. Its interesting because there is a debate if the AES was a 16bit machine or a 24 bit. It has a 16 bit 6800 Motorola chip and a 8 bit Z80 co processer. But as the MVS was a arcade machine I can see your point.

      Honestly never been a big Golden Axe fan. It's not terrible, but it's outshined by much better playing beat em ups that came after it. I dig the swords and sorcery setting and characters though.

      Cadillacs and Dinosaurs is an arcade game, it wasn't ported to any 16-bit consoles

    • @jamesclr

      It’s CPS-1 arcade system which is 16bits! You don’t figure console or arcade on your title!

      @@MadPanicGaming looking forward to it..question: i used to play this arcade fighting game where the player was human and the enemy was dragon(mostly its head).. i loved that game and i've been searching for its name for more than 20 years..but cant find it..its a 1v1 fighting game like street fighter..but all the enemy was dragon and all the heroes were human..i'd highly appreciate if you can tell me its name
