A couple of japanese heavy hitters like Iron Commando, Undercover Cops, or Ghost Chaser Densei really could've shooken up the list and I think could have dethroned a few entries
FINAL FIGHT 2 and KNIGHTS OF THE ROUND and KING OF DRAGONS and of course TMNT 4 TURTLES IN TIME and BATTLETOADS IN BATTLEMANICS all awesome BEAT EN UPS
If you ask people what genre defined the SNES they'd tell you either RPGs or Platformers by and large. But it had at least 2, arguably as many as 3 dozen fun beat 'em ups (factoring in Famicom to round that out). Good video!
Thanks for sharing Taylor B 503. RPGs and platformers were huge when the SNES was out in gaming magazines and on the playground. I love all three genres and would definitely list some of my favorite platformers at some point!
Excellent list with some interesting placings. For me Captain Commando and King Of Dragons would have been further up on the list but I respect the choices you made.
Thanks for stopping by Michael. I might have Peace Keeper in a separate video someday. With so many quality SNES beat em ups, it can sometimes be tricky to narrow down to just fifteen titles.
Good list but very surprised not to see X men mutant apocalypse on the list as it would’ve made my top 5. Sure it has platforming here and there but it’s still considered a beat em up. Also I know OG final fight for snes had numerous cuts to the game from the arcade that makes it feel like a very butchered port (The lack of coop still upsets me today) but the game still looks, plays and sounds good and it definitely should be ahead of some of the games are your list. Anyways sorry for the rant, great video!
Ninja Warriors Final Fight 3 King of Dragons Turtles IV Super Double Dragon Batman Returns Battletoads and Double Dragon Captain Commando Final Fight 2 Sonic Blast Man II Knights of the Round Peace Keepers Brawl Brothers Combatribes Death & Return of Superman Mighty MorphiPower Rangers
Any Beat Em Ups that you wished made this list? Let me know!

@@RetroDrew That's a good idea for a future video RetroDrew!

The best Beat'em up in a 16 bit console? That's pretty controversial!
Let me guess Albertredneck, Streets of Rage 2?
I actually preferred 3, but yeah, pretty much :D
Keep up the content! Beat em ups are a forgotten genre but required some great timing and pattern recognition in order to clear.
Some of them I actually use a joystick that I modded from a third party snes controller to help out with some of the more precision inputs.

Thanks for sharing Retrodrew. I'm sure we could have these debates for hours!
I just subscribed. More please! :)
Thanks for subscribing Christopher!
I guess he never played streets of rage.
I hope you understand this is just playful ribbing
Awesome video! I need to give The King of Dragons a try. There's a few on the list I haven't played.
I'm glad you've enjoyed it Biss Mark!
I didn't know some of these games existed. I'm about to add a couple of these games to the backlog.
Let me know how some of the play throughs go Anthony!
So many new games to try.
Let me know how you like them David!
Ok, I subbed. You got me. = )
Thanks

You forgot the Peace Keeper. That should have made the list.

maximum carnage is so good, yet snes lacks of SoR
I agree Juliano. Streets of Rage 2 is a fantastic game!
@@RetroKingPin yep, and the first game I have a intense contact was the original
SoR on a japanese sega genesis
