couldn't agree more. MK2 has better made fatalities, characters do fall down after being decapitated or something whereas they just stand still in MK3..bit embarrassing..
Fuck no, Killer Instinct should stay on top 3. There's more nostalgia there. Heck fuck super street fighter 2, its boring and has no combos, a game like that really is boring. Killer Instinct should be top 1. Not opinion, Fact.
Love the shout out to MMPR: The Fighting Edition. I absolutely love it! The only fighting game I've put more time into on my SNES is Street Fighter 2 Turbo. I need to grab Killer Instinct to go with my Killer Cuts CD.
First of all, T.Hawk is awesome. In the hands of a master, that character is downright frightening in SSF2. Second, I'd say TMNT Tournament Fighters deserves to be higher on this, top 3 imo behind MK2 and SSF2. Also, no MK2 is a travesty. Also, World Heroes 2 on SNES plays better than the NeoGeo version and is excellent overall.
Should check out Tuff E Nuff from Jaleco. I loved that game, the fighting mechanics were spot on, the stages were creative and unique (seeing Dolf enter the arena on a rocket, etc). There were some generic fighters, but a lot of unique ones as well. One of the coolest mechanics is the fact that as you play through the game, the attacks of your character get stronger (which is fitting as the people you fight get stronger as well). With cheat codes, you can play as all characters (including the boss character). I had the cartridge as a kid, and I played it A LOT. The only catch is, once you master the moves and the fighting techniques, the game becomes pretty easy (even on Hard Difficulty).
I personally prefer SF2Turbo over SSF2. When Turbo came out it was, to a teenage kid, perfection and as close to arcade perfect as we were gonna get. I really wanted to love SSF2, and I _like_ it a lot, but I shared the same sentiment as many folks that by golly just go ahead and make a dangnammit SF3 already. I think I still have those disappointment goggles on when I go back and play SSF2 on my SNES these days. I still like it. I still don't like it as much as SF2Turbo. I also love the speed of Turbo better. Great inclusion of other games, including lesser known series. C-c-c-c-c-combo breaker! Would love to know what you guys thought of the Art of Fighting/World Heroes ports on SNES. But I agree Samurai Showdown was the best NeoGeo port, for sure. Man you are bringing back all the old feels.
Haha thanks, man! SSF2 just felt right. Mostly because of the 4 new fighters (Or at least two of them) and the new move additions. That said, I can safely say that we still have all the love in the world for SF2 Turbo. I liked World Heroes visually, but gameplay-wise it didn't feel like enough of a stand out to make it in. Though maybe I never gave it enough of a chance. Same thing with Art of Fighting. (Though I love that story mode.) Bring back the feels is what we do! :) Thanks for watching!
Endless Duel has some very interesting combat mechanics. At first it seems very clunky, but as you get used to it--you can do some really cool stuff. Gundam Battle Assault builds on these mechanics and its just so cool to use so many Gundams. Also, Nakoruru was the only person I could effectively use in Samurai Showdown, as a result, she became bae.
Oh yeah! Me and some friends had Battle Assault rented one night back in the day. It was alot of fun. We also used to have a Neo Geo cabinet with Samurai Showdown at a local pizza place I would always duck in to play. Used to pick Galford alot. (Fuck yeah, animal-training characters!) Thanks for watching, man!
Why TMNT Tournament Fighters is so underrated ? This is so awesome, one the best soundtracks i ever see in a game, gameplay is 10/10, sound effects is fantastic, funny a lot. A masterpiece for few
Fatal Fury: Special is too low on the list. It was one of the best looking games and gameplay was great. Best arcade conversion (except Neo Geo of course)
Thanks for mentioning the great game TMNT Tournament Fighters! As a huge TMNT fan I had a blast learning many different characters. Along with Donatello, War and Wingnut were unlikely favorites!
The Art of Fighting should have been on this list. That was a great fighting game. Glad to see turtles tournament was on the list at least. That was a great one too
I was about to say, if power ranger fighting Edition wasn't in the list, this video shouldn't exist... That game was AWESOME great animation, Music and sound fx
Honourable mention: Clay Fighter! I agree MK3 is better than UMK3. The quality of the game is simply better Though, MK2 could easily replace MK3 on this list, but I guess it's a question about taste. MK3 plays better, but MK2 has got the atmosphere, mystique, and a lot better looking fatalities.
I love the original Power Instinct series (the first two games and Legends). I have mixed feelings about what came after them (Groove on Fight, Matrimelee). I love that the series has a good sense of humor and doesn't take itself very seriously. I spent tons of coins playing the first three games in the arcades back in the day. The Super Nintendo port of the first game is also awesome!
Nice list. I'd like to make one honorable mention because I judged this game by it's cover. Then when I played it, it was pretty good and the graphics were in some ways more superior than SF2. SNK's The Art Of Fighting.
I wish I could give you a million likes. First game you start was a game I was looking for 30 years!! I played it in a hotel lobby when I was a kid and never was able to find. That old lady !
Here are some of the best fighting games for Super NES/SFC: 1. Mobile Suit Gundam W: Endless Duels 2. Super Street Fighter II 3. Mortal Kombat II 4. Killer Instinct 5. WeaponLord 6. Fatal Fury Special 7. Samurai Shodown 8. Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Fighting Edition 9. Power Instinct 10. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Tournament Fighters 11. Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 12. Saturday Night Slam Masters 13. Fighter's History 14. Street Fighter II Turbo Hyper Fighting 15. Fatal Fury 2 16. Art of Fighting 2 17. World Heroes II 18. Street Fighter Alpha 2 19. Primal Rage 20. Dragon Ball Z: Hyper Dimension
I agree with this list. It's pretty diverse so that's great, in my opinion. my personal top 20 20.- Ranma 1/2 19.- Primal Rage 18.- World Heroes 2 17.- TMNT: Tournament Fighters 16.- Fighter's History 15.- Mortal Kombat 14.- Street Fighter II 13.- Power Instinct 12.- Street Fighter II' Turbo 11.- MMPower Rangers: The Fighting Game 10.- Justice League Task Force 09.- Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 08.- Samurai Shodown 07.- Mortal Kombat 3 06.- Fatal Fury Special 05.- Mortal Kombat II 04.- Street Fighter Alpha 2 03.- Killer Instinct 02.- Fatal Fury 2 01.- SUPER Street Fighter II Greetings!
That's a solid list too! Never played Ranma 1/2 but I did have some fun with "Street Combat" which was a re-skin of it for the west. Thanks for watching!
SFA2 on the SNES was missing Evil Ryu. He was intended to be in the game since you can see him in a Top 5 screen in attract mode, but they ended up cutting him. But Classic Chun Li and Shin Akuma are both in there.
I was a genesis man growing up. My neighbour had a SNES. So we got the best of both worlds. As an adult i owned a copy of killer instinct for years without owning a console. And I rate mk3 and sf2 4nc well above the genesis versions. Mk3 probably being my favourite fighting game. Killer instinct was in a league of its own though. Character design, sound design, graphics, fighting mechanics. #FlawlessVictory
This is the Real Top 10 01) Street Fighter II Turbo - Hyper Fighting 02) Mortal Kombat II 03) Killer Instinct {Arcade Restoration} 04) Mobile Suit Gundam WIng - Endless Duel 05) Mortal Kombat 3 06) Fatal Fury Special 07) Super Street Fighter II 08) Dragon Ball Z - Super Butōden 2 09) Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles - Tournament Fighters 10) WeaponLord
Street Fighter Alpha 2 was able to pull off what it did because it used a special custom chip that allowed for very high compression on the graphics (the load time is probably the time it takes for the custom chip to decode the graphics into the graphics RAM)
Jonathan Wilson i'm blown away by how good it looked. I had the PS1 version and the only difference I saw in these clips were the scaled down backgrounds and sound. The character sprites look fantastic. (Sidenote: Alpha 2 is my favorite of any SF game.)
Erik Dresner It's also one of six fighting games on the Super NES/SFC that feature super moves or super combos. The other five are Fatal Fury Special, TMNT: Tournament Fighters, Killer Instinct, Gundam Wings: Endless Duels, and MMPR: The Fighting Edition.
I'm just glad Endless Duel got mentioned. It's my favorite SNES fighting game. Also sad Primal Rage didn't get a mention. But then again a lot of the special move inputs are not easy to do on a controller compared to in the arcade.
MrBipson SF sucked, it was slow and the jumping was lame and there werent true combos. A fighting game with no combos is boring. SF was boring. The modern ones are much better now though
I rate KI higher too. For me, the #1 fighting game for SNES is Best Of The Best. As martial artist/actor Ron Yuan stated in a 1994 interview: "I know a lot of pure gamers will disagree, but the best SNES fighting game from a purely technical martial arts point of view is Best of the Best. It didn't get much notoriety, but my friends and I know martial arts, and they go nuts whenever we play."
This is just a personal list ...cause all these games really had nothing that KI really had with the combo breakers the graphics and more ..it was an ultimate game ..it took mad skill to play each character..stree fighter 2 is only there because of the nostalgia factor ..MK3 was pretty dope no lie but it was no killer Instinct and still isnt
good list. I especially agree with Weaponlord. that game gets overlooked so much, but is such a good game. MMPR fighting edition was also a pretty good game on the snes too, but not listed here.
I admit Ilike the four button approach of most SNK fighters a lot more. The six button layout for most Capcom fighters is abusive most of the time, having me pressing three buttons at the same time to perform certain special attacks. But hitting three buttons precisely at the same time has become something unredeemable for me now. Nothing wrong with Street Fighter Alpha or the Darkstalker games, love them to this moment. But I have the CPU unleash more super mega specials on me before I can pull one off myself. And the shoulder button layout the SNES controller has doesn't work properly for six button fighting games. An arcade stick is to be recommended as all buttons are where they need to be, independent on what console or PC you play fighting games. Otherwise I prefer standard controllers more and SNKs four button gameplay always works efficiently. So even the SNES controller can handle that properly. Some games from SNK even work with a classic three button controller for the Sega Genesis. Can't do that with the button loads of things to do with most Capcom fighters.
Glad the Gundam fighter was included (sorta) since I loved the power rangers fighter and wanted to more of that type of fighter and Gundam was awesome too
I remember playing a fighting game on it when I was a kid. I don't remember much of it, all I remember is that there was a bridge, and also there was a guy that could make a beam of light around him. I think he had a stick too like TMNT's Donatello. I wish I could know the name of that game... I'm not sure if it was a SNES game or PS1.
Phiter Fernandes lol your description is so vague... If the guy looked like raidern then the game is Fatal fury... Guy has a stick and has powers like beams of light
The best fighting game for SNES is Best Of The Best. As martial artist/actor Ron Yuan stated in a 1994 interview: "I know a lot of pure gamers will disagree, but the best SNES fighting game from a purely technical martial arts point of view is Best of the Best. I was pissssssed when I played SamShow on SNES and saw how small the sprites were. that kind of thing is fine for downporting to a hand held but not to a console like that.
Weaponlords even had fatalities which were pretty brutal and it was nice - you could have let your opponents guts out, cut his head after and smash it for the brain to go out :)
I'll jump on this dog pile. MKII was perfection. They improved the already cool, ominous music tremendously. They absolutely bathed it in vivid color which was something sorely missing in MKI but did so in a very tasteful manner without anything looking gaudy. Also, being able to morph with Shang Tsung was fucking ridiculously awesome. It basically made it so that the character select screen was a mere formality once you had all the morph commands memorized.
Awesome list, only gripe is that instead of MK3 I think MKII was the Mortal Kombat game that should have been on the list, other than that, agree on every level, specially Super Street Fighter II, remain still today on my top 5 best SF games ever made.
Fans of SNES fighting games should check out the TMNT Tournament Fighters Twitter for the latest on events and information about the new patch for the game TMNT TF Championship Edition. twitter.com/tmnt_tf/ SNES Fighting Game Discord: discord.gg/9vd8uTp Hope to see you there!
i pick alpha 2 or alpha 3 over street fighter 2 the new challenger and my second thought is where did clay fighter go ? because that is one fantastic fighting game.
Street fighter alpha 2 on the Saturn did not support the ram expansion, that was from Xmen vs Street fighter onwards. Small detail on a great video, keep it up👍
I was surprised to see MK 3 on the list. MK 2 was a bigger hit and fan favorite and has aged better than mk3. nowadays fans even preferred the MK 2’s announcer, sound effects, music, character grunts, level design and simplicity of all the finishing moves that became ridiculous in later installments.
Yeah, I get that. Just I have a huge appreciation for the design, characters and story choices they made for MK3. (Adding running was the only thing I didn't love about 3... that and them killing off Johnny Cage.) Still have a world of love for MK2, though. Thanks for watching!
How about top ten Sega Genesis fighting games? I know one . Eternal Champions , its gory but its finishing moves are the background doing something to the loser . Like burning at the steak, Dino meat, and the victim of a drive by shooting
i would have added in world heroes or world heroes 2 instead of having street fighter take up two spots on the list but your pick are great games oh and i loved ranma 1/2 hard battle and super battle as well
Never understood why they chose Hyperfighting Street Fighter 2 over Super SF2 for the SNES Classic. Thankfully, I can hack it to play. I was totally shock about UMK3 since I thought that game has EVERYTHING. Well, I guess it's back to finding MK3 for my SNES Classic. FLAWLESS VICTORY!!
Pretty cool list. I believe Super Street Fighter 2 should be #1 and it's definitely my favourite fighter on the SNES. Only significant changes my list would have is: Swapping out Samurai Showdown for World Heroes 2 (and not just because they are both Neo-Geo ports). SS doesn't look nearly as good as the Sega Genesis version. Yes it has all the characters but the Genesis version looks and plays closer to the Arcade port in my opinion. As for World Heroes 2, I think out of all the Neo-Geo/Arcade ports to the SNES, it comes the closest. Plus it had for the time, a unique throw reversal and projectile bounce back attacks which were useful additions to a solid gameplay formula. Mortal Kombat 2 instead of Mortal Kombat 3, and yes I am one of those individuals who easily favoured Ultimate MK3 over MK3. If Street Fighter Alpha 2 can get some love for being on a SNES cartridge (and it deserves it), so should UMK3. Mortal Kombat 2, outside of the weird change to have the names outside of the health bars, is pretty close to the Arcade. Plus it didn't have that silly run feature that made the AI go from difficult to just about impossible, MK3 was a step backwards for me. I'd also give an honourable mention to C2: Judgement Clay. I had a lot of fun with it back in the day. It had a tournament mode even more elaborate than that found in SSF2 and I thought it was cool that the end boss followed the Tekken formula giving you a specific character for whomever you chose. They may have been pallet swapped versions of your character, but their moves and special moves were different. It was definitely the high mark of the Clayfighters series of games.
Sad to not see Saturday Night Slam Masters on here. Oh and BTW the Ninja Megazord appears atbthe very end of MMPR TM SNES. You don't play as him however he's just there for a cutscene.
Street fighter, fatal fury and killer instinct are the best fighting games, my uncle owned a snes and killer instinct was on it I played it alot sadly it broke :( , and I remember seeing one of those garbage mobile games that has old game and renames and re- skins the characters, I remember playing one of those and getting an emulator to play it and the same for street fighter.
Great list. I own Weaponlord, Power Rangers Fighting Edition, and Killer Instinct. All fantastic, and collection treasures, but a little dated now for people to enjoy at parties, except power rangers. Lol And Weaponlord truly is insanely difficult, I don't know how I beat it when I was a kid. They don't make fighting games that badass anymore.
Personally I always thought Mortal Kombat 2 was a better port on SNES than MK3.
MK3 was too demanding for the system
Mk 3 is damn tough
Umk3 is even better
I remember those days when I was in high school I played a lot of nintendo games and I miss my high school crush.
I'd stick Mortal Kombat II in the place of 3. Of course that is nostalgia but I feel MKII is the best of the classic era.
chrisbg99 totally
couldn't agree more. MK2 has better made fatalities, characters do fall down after being decapitated or something whereas they just stand still in MK3..bit embarrassing..
chrisbg99 on the snes on the genesis it ultimate mk3..
Fuck no, Killer Instinct should stay on top 3. There's more nostalgia there. Heck fuck super street fighter 2, its boring and has no combos, a game like that really is boring. Killer Instinct should be top 1. Not opinion, Fact.

TMNT was one of the best and fun fighting games I've ever played, I still love it till this day
I totally kick ass with Donnie!!
tmnt tournament fighters was the super nes game I played the most. so much fun.

Bring back the feels is what we do! :) Thanks for watching!
Nothing will surpass the feeling of playing SF2Turbo!
turxa AGREED!!!
SF2 Turbo has much better SOUND!!!
Weaponlord was one of my favorites growing up the sound effects alone were awesome

It was a pleasure!
And the gore is the best, MK3 got cheesy and child concious

The power instinct series is very underrated. Those games are lots of fun
Only ever tried that one, but the sequel -did- look solid. Thanks for watching!

I only play Matrimelee because it has Lynn in it
Dude, I just found your channel and you are criminally unpopular. You REALLY deserve more subscribers, because this is some quality content I tell ya!
Nice list. I'd like to make one honorable mention because I judged this game by it's cover. Then when I played it, it was pretty good and the graphics were in some ways more superior than SF2. SNK's The Art Of Fighting.

World Heroes and Fighters History were indeed released on the SNES.
Big Bear sure looks like Vader...IT'S TIME!IT'S TIME!...IT'S VADER TIME!

How the fuck does this guy have less than 500 subscribers?!? These retro Top 10s are awesome! Subbing
Great list! Personally though I'd take MK2 over MK3 on SNES, and also SF2 Turbo over Super SF2 but that's just me.
Agree. But I would take SFA2 above all with its msu-1 patch
Exactly
I was a genesis man growing up. My neighbour had a SNES. So we got the best of both worlds. As an adult i owned a copy of killer instinct for years without owning a console. 05) Mortal Kombat 3
06) Fatal Fury Special

Killer Instinc should be N1 and MK2 the N2. The nostalgia card play so hard for this guy.
Dash Rush no other game from snes compares to KI in gameplay, music and visuals.
Dash Rush huh? So you think those two are better games than SSF2 or you think the SNES ports are better?
MrBipson SF sucked, it was slow and the jumping was lame and there werent true combos. A fighting game with no combos is boring. SF was boring. The modern ones are much better now though

This Channel is good, very good
Thanks for watching!
i always loved tuff E nuff on the snes .. have you ever played that ?
Yu Yu Hakusho Final should absolutely be in this list.
Is a NTSC-U top games not include PAL or NTSC-J.
The best fighting game was Killer Instint
Juan Enrique Bocalandro Burton i wholeheartedly agree. No one will ever understand us.
*said no one ever.
Weaponlord 🙌🏻 I was obsessed with that game as a child. However, I never beat the final boss 😔 that game was crazy hard for me at the time.
Killer instinct! Was my favorite.
Mobile Suit Gundam Wing: Endless Duel is the dopest fighter on SNES
Not gonna lie instant liked as soon as i saw gundam mentioned on the list
1) Street Fighter 2 Turbo
2) Mortal Kombat 2
3) Killer instinct
good list. I especially agree with Weaponlord. that game gets overlooked so much, but is such a good game.
MMPR fighting edition was also a pretty good game on the snes too, but not listed here.
HARUOKAY? I see what you did there, SUBSCRIBED
If you can repeat Street Fighter game more than once, then Mortal Kombat 2 should had been also picked in this top 10
Great video! Hoping for more.
I had never heard of Power Instinct but it looks pretty good, I'll have to check it out. Cool list of games. Great video :)
Thanks! From what I've seen, Power Instinct isn't cheap if you're looking for the cart. But there's always emulation I guess.
It's on Fightcade, play the Neo Geo version
Power instinct matrimelee i think its called is def my favorite
4:20 thats Ryo from Art of fighting game his nemesis is Mr. KARATE

Glad the Gundam fighter was included (sorta) since I loved the power rangers fighter and wanted to more of that type of fighter and Gundam was awesome too
No Clayfighter?! Haha this was a cool video
Project Genesis i was expecting to see clay fighters
Clay fighters was better on the sega
It didn't get much notoriety, but my friends and I know martial arts, and they go nuts whenever we play."
Replace MK3 with MK2 and SSF2 with SF2T and the list is perfect.
Digital Nemesis Turbo was never released for Super Nintendo, and this is a Super Nintendo list.
CageCat yes it was
SSF2T was not available on Snes, wish it had.
Cleveland Lanthrip no it wasn't. Alpha 2 was though.
Cleveland Lanthrip no it wasn't. Alpha 2 was though.
I was pissssssed when I played SamShow on SNES and saw how small the sprites were. that kind of thing is fine for downporting to a hand held but not to a console like that.
Killer instinct, mortal kombat and street fighter.... Hard to choose which was better. Love them all
Chris pippin kI was better because it was KI
Zeek Hernandez right, loved being Spinal and turning into my opponent and killing him. Lol
That was awesome too lol. Man i started playing this game after i saw it on the video
Weaponlords even had fatalities which were pretty brutal and it was nice - you could have let your opponents guts out, cut his head after and smash it for the brain to go out :)
9:31 I loved that phrase!!!
MK2 was the best one!
Agreed. I never really liked 3

Hope to see you there!
I always dreamed of something like this existing, thanks for us know!
That game was a classic
i pick alpha 2 or alpha 3 over street fighter 2 the new challenger and my second thought is where did clay fighter go ? because that is one fantastic fighting game.
I collect all fighting game in my 25 years of life.. I think i have all of them already.. And fighting game never old
I just bought all these games because of you.
Flawless video, SNES Best Console ever made period
Final Fight should've been ranked higher. However I'm glad Killer Instinct got the respect it deserves !
My number 1 is KI...
...and where is MK2? The SNES-Port is my favourite Port!
How about top ten Sega Genesis fighting games? I know one . Eternal Champions , its gory but its finishing moves are the background doing something to the loser . Like burning at the steak, Dino meat, and the victim of a drive by shooting
Definitely should have added Justice League Task Force and Primal Rage!
Just remember... Patience 👌👌👌
man power instinct and power lord look great i saw them but never played dem
Fidel Castrosolis you mean Killer Instinct? ;)
Good list, haven't heard some of them.
i would have added in world heroes or world heroes 2 instead of having street fighter take up two spots on the list but your pick are great games oh and i loved ranma 1/2 hard battle and super battle as well
Never understood why they chose Hyperfighting Street Fighter 2 over Super SF2 for the SNES Classic.
Only significant changes my list would have is:
Swapping out Samurai Showdown for World Heroes 2 (and not just because they are both Neo-Geo ports).
Mk3 snd Instinct. But we always ended up putting Mk 3 back in for are final up all nights
The shaman at 2:12 is straight out of Altered Beast.
Great video
Sad to not see Saturday Night Slam Masters on here. Oh and BTW the Ninja Megazord appears atbthe very end of MMPR TM SNES. You don't play as him however he's just there for a cutscene.
Los primeros dos puestos son in clasico ... el tercero ha sido una revolucion en aquella epoca
TOP 5 SNES Fighting games are:
1) Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3
2) Killer Instinct
3) Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles - Tournament Fighters
4) Super Street Fighter 2
5) Mortal Kombat 2
Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 & Killer Instinct had the best combos.
I agree. Ultras and Brutalities are sick.
Great job,Great list,Snes :The best Console ever made
Power Rangers Fighting Edition was one if my favorite.
Where is primal rage and shaq-fu ? :(
I also miss Clayfighter, what gives???
They said good, not nostalgic
Primal Rage, Clay Fighters and Tough-E-Nuff
Tmnt tournament fighter should of been a arcade cabinet back in tha day, that would of been lit and close to popularity of streetfighter 2🔥🔥🔥
That would have DOMINATED arcades back in the day! Small wonder they never tried it. Thanks for watching!
Where's primal rage?!!
I'm surprised mk 2 wasn't on the list to this day it's one of my favorite games.
MK3 over 2 your crazy MK2 was the best in the series and one of the top SNES fighting games!!!
I've yet to see a mobile fighting (port or otherwise) that worked, but would love to be shown differently some day. Thanks for watching!
Great list.
I own Weaponlord, Power Rangers Fighting Edition, and Killer Instinct.
All fantastic, and collection treasures, but a little dated now for people to enjoy at parties, except power rangers. Lol
And Weaponlord truly is insanely difficult, I don't know how I beat it when I was a kid.
They don't make fighting games that badass anymore.
What happened to clay fighter?
Good video id put tmnt tournament fight on a higher number, that game is great,me and my brother bottled it out on it
Alpha 2 is awesome
