Ive seen others plasti dipp their wheels and instead of applying tape all around the wheel to protect the tire you can stick notecards between the wheel and tire all around. It does the same thing and may be less of a hassle. Just a tip for anyone going to do this
Those do look good, but I have plasti dipped my wheels. I didn't have to take them off, I put paper towels or plastic around the rotor and that was it.
That is alot of work compared to the Plasti dip. You don't need to take your tires off or tape anything up. This is 4x more work . I would like to know if it was worth it and how long did it last ?
My son in-law did this to his Tacoma . They look really good, they are still showing gloss black 2 years later. Mind you that like with any wheel finish, road debris will nick and have some small rock chips on the finish. But it does hold up pretty good.
How has the Superwrap help up over time? I'm interested in doing this to my Tacoma, but I've also seen other videos where the rims were sprayed with Plasti-Dip.
New wheels and potentially new tires is over $500 easily. I thought this might be a good low cost solution however the finish really didn't hold up well at all.
Was holding up really nicely until I went through an automatic car wash. It flaked it off and I had to end up peeling everything down. Came off really easily though! Heh
It may have nice appearance but realistally its senseless to do all this to wheels being the paint is sprayed on not baked on therefor will chip off & scratch up easy, its better to just save the time & money on can paint to just go buy rims that are the color & style made by some company less headaches all the way round..
I found after about 6 months it scratches off very easily. Even just going through an automatic car wash it comes off. They now recommend not going through auto carwashes with it so I doubt it would hold up well between tire changes.
an easier option instead of taping the tire is buy a pack of cue cards from the dollar store and stick the cards into the lip of the wheel, have the cards overlap each other to have complete coverage.
No, not for this covering. This is meant to be peelable and removable. If you sanded the wheels you would be ruining the base wheel at which point why not just use standard paint?

even better and easier apply tire shine to tires NOT any on rim itself...over spray on tire wont stick and will peel off easy
Or just use a trash bag . Rip it down the middle and stick it through the spokes and spread it out. Works just as good.
Oh on the tire the company makes a protection you can spray on the tire and done need all the tape or cards. Peels right off
I like what you did with the hubs
Great video I took off the Toyota logo and installed a trd logo
Looks great man

Looks very good 👍. I wonder if it could be used to paint or “dip” a camper shell.
I have the same wheels and like the look on them but seeing this def making me want to black it out
Good job dude looks great!!
I like them very much, about to do exactly to 4runner wheels and like the chrome nutts and emplem
I know this video is a year old but I'm curious as to how the wrap has held up?
i know I'm quite off topic but does anyone know a good website to stream newly released movies online ?
@Watson Elijah try FlixZone. Just search on google for it :)
@@watsonelijah9693 What about a good windshield crack repair shop in the Chicago area?
@@watsonelijah9693 A little off topic here, but who won the NFL 1992-1993 season superbowl?
Paint your mini wheels pink! It'll be a great contrast colour to your blue!
🙄

How long is it supposed to last as you said simi permanent does it stay on as long as you keep it clean until you want it gone?
How has the Superwrap help up over time? I'm interested in doing this to my Tacoma, but I've also seen other videos where the rims were sprayed with Plasti-Dip.
Honestly it didn’t hold up. First time I washed the car with a pressure washer it flaked despite spending all that time prepping.
Oh wow that sounds like a waist of time and money. I guess we are going to Plasti dip our tundra. Thank you for letting us all know
Thanks for the awesome video. How many cans did you have to use?
6 cans for 4 wheels is good to have extra...not including glossifier if u want shine
Do you like that vs primer and paint
nice job bro.
I personally would buy new wheels before going through all that work for stock wheels.
New wheels and potentially new tires is over $500 easily. I thought this might be a good low cost solution however the finish really didn't hold up well at all.
How do you like the super wrap
The best way I found out is using playing cards
How long does it last on normal road conditions?
I found it to not last long at all. First time I went through a touchless carwash it scratched it. I probably wouldn't use the product again.
Whats the biggest tire size can you go on the 17inch stock rims on a 2inch lift?
Idk I’m
Courts too too
What makes this better than the Plastidip?
not better different..more colors and better power coat look...plasti dip is good but rubber appearance
@@dflex4180 Has it held up well over the past year?
@@informedcitizen8687 mine only lasted a month on chrome. I prepared the wheels properly but it won't stick good on chrome
Suggestion try the blue from the engine on the tires ??
Can the center caps come off without taking out the nuts?
Not that I know of. Wheels need to come off to get the caps off
How do you remove the center cap (not the logo) from the wheel? The wheels came out amazing
They just pop out with a quick tap from the back of the wheel when the wheels are removed. :-)
What happens when you need new tires? Will it get scraped up?
Most likely yes. Would require a reapplication at that time. Although I imagine plastidip would require the same treatment.
Where i could buy the spray paint and the clear code
Links are in the description. 👍🏼
How do you get the brake dust crud off? Mine is baked in there pretty good.
Lots of time and elbow grease for baked on stuff.
Simple Green works great, hit it hard, let it soak in and scrub
I think Bad Wolf needs gloss white wheels.
Superwrap says not to spray plastic?
When I made this video there was no warning like that on the product. That said it bonded to the plastic just fine when I did it.
How has this held up?

@@classicminidiy so how is it better than Plasti Dip? Plasti Dip doesn't peel or chip off from an automated car wash!
Same thing happened to me decided to take it through automatic car wash to see how it held up, just flaked off.
I hate black wheels but I like gun metal gray metallic...do they come n gray metallic
Here are all the finishes it comes in - getsuperwrap.com/gallery/

@@guzmanpatriot powder coating today is very good but very expensive it would better pff to just putchase rims from some place.
I wonder how easily the stuff scratches when you put new tires on the rims

@@classicminidiy just the question and answer I was looking for. I still want to try this. I suppose touching up will be necessary from time to time.
Are you in charlotte nc?
Yup.
Cool im in Charlotte also, want to do thus in my truck also
an easier option instead of taping the tire is buy a pack of cue cards from the dollar store and stick the cards into the lip of the wheel, have the cards overlap each other to have complete coverage.
not easier than just putting some tire shine so it wont stick to tires
U don’t sand the rims??
No, not for this covering. This is meant to be peelable and removable. If you sanded the wheels you would be ruining the base wheel at which point why not just use standard paint?
should have just painted those style of rims ..
No need to mask off the tire comes right off make sure your tire is sitting strait
Applies to wet wheel... 2:42
Same as plastidip? Plastidip lasts for quite a long time, looks great though!
Plastidip is much stronger than this but I think this has a better finish. All trade offs
@@classicminidiy it looks awesome, this is the first I’ve seen it and you applied well.
NOPE! Tried both plasti still better!
glad i found this..i love plasti dip but was thinking about this
Too much freaking work. I'll just buy black wheels.
