Those rims look great in black!
Oh yeah! I still don’t understand why they did the half silver and black from the factory… all black looks way better!
Rims look amazing, I personally would have went with a TRD decal center cap to replace the Toyota emblem. Those are my plans. However it looks amazing, great job.
Great Vid Man, I can‘t wait to do this to my Toyota!
Just this afternoon i plastic dipped my Maverick steelies but not the lug nut cover it turned out great i didn't sand the wheels but i cleaned them really good an it dried without any drips
How many cans do you use for the rims and the specific name of the can and the color please I want to do it like you did?
Thank you for this video I was debating to buy new wheels, but I definitely like the look of your wheels, and I'm going to do the same. Thanks man
Anytime Man! Go for it they still are holding up great everyone asks me where I got them!
Dam! I also have an inferno orange tacoma and wow those wheels make the truck pop like crazy, i have to do this to my truck too!
Oh yeah I get compliments all the time on them honestly no one even knows they are painted unless I tell them!
@DomDemeo what?! That awesome they honestly look like bought powder coated wheels
Pretty clean bro, pretty clean! Was in the same boat recently but ended up just buying some KMC impact OLs , definitely considered something like this tho ! Getting my wildpeak at3s in a couple days! Great truck man! Thanks for the video
I was looking for a video on painting the shiny part of the wheels to match the rest of the wheel but this black would look much better on my white TRD OR, thank you! Next project.
Awesome have fun man and I’m shocked by how well they have held up years later the paint still looks just as good!
Great way to get by with stock wheels, when your saving for new ones!😁
Looks awesome, how’s the paint hold up? I live in NH and would love to do this but not sure of how the paint would hold up in the winter.
So Far they’ve held up great this winter I went right around 10,000 traveling all over to snowboarding during the snow storms we did get this year and you’d never know they were painted the key is to take your time with thr prep work and make sure you choose a nice day when the paint can fully cure
How many cans of paint and clear coat did you end up using?
I like the index card idea
Looks great brother. Good Job!!
Yo! How did they hold up? Looked awesome.
looks clean did the same with my lunar rock 🤙🤙
Nice man! so far mine are holding up great even after a few winters!
paint the lugs, they look great man
How did your paint work stand up after a year or so?
After 2 winters and 30k Miles they are still going strong I haven’t even had to retouch them the key is to really clean the wheel and then scuffed them up, so the paint has something to hear too
How's it holding up?
How has the paint job held up for you?
Great job looks awesome
I'm thinking that I'll do the same, but in bronze, since mine is dark grey.
So why no primer? And what are you using gloss black flat black or just preference
I personally like the gloss black and the paint was paint and primer all in one. I’m also not too worried about have to redo it in a few years my wheels are normally covered with mud or break dust always so any imperfections are pretty much hidden. If it doesn’t hold up I’ll make an update post or video
SWEET
How is it holding up the test of time?
So far phenomenally! I still get comments on the Tires or people ask where I got them and they are shocked when I tell them they are the stock wheels painted. Just make sure it’s warm enough when you paint to get good adhesion because we’re getting close to fall where I live it’s a little too cold to paint now.
How many cans of black and clear coat would you recommend?
I used 2 Cans of Black and 1 Can of Clear coat when applying the clear you want to make sure you put it on heavy enough it’s a smooth surface but not too much where it runs
Perfect sounds good thanks for the info
No problem man anytime good luck with the project. I’m honestly impressed with how well the paint held up this winter the wheels are still shiny and I’ve just seen a lot of people complaining about clear coating and it’s because they apply it like a spray paint in light coats that gives a terrible textured look
Thanks, honestly if you just put in the time and do research, you will either get solutions or somewhat an okay answer, looks good tho man rims came out clean
You should have painted those brake drums while you had those tires off …
What brand of paint did you use?

what mud flaps are those
I'm Back!!! ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
No primer?
The Paint was paint and primer in one and I might end up getting them anodized black so I’m not too worried they are wheels so they are going to get beat up with any off-roading or mudding I do.
How are they holding up? I used self etching primer before doing 3 coats of Duplicolor wheel paint and there's been very minor chips, hardly noticeable. Just wondering how this paint held up without the primer coat
So far it’s been pretty dam good I haven’t gotten any chips yet or flaking and after I washed my truck the clear float is still shinny.I did use a scotch pad to skiff up the wheels which helps a lot with adhesion and the paint I used was primer and paint in one I figured it was good enough because I’m sure at some point I will either repaint them or get a new set but for now it’s way cheaper than getting a new set of wheels. And I’ve always had issues with Dupicolor in the past unless I was painting bondo or a plastic piece
@@DomDemeo they look damn good for such a small price in money and time. Thanks for the video
those cans of clear coat have always ended up fucking over the paint preoject. Best off not using it.
