    Any body that will trap and sell their furs for these prices are doing themselves and the entire fur industry a disservice. Don't sell fur at these prices.

      Irish, I was just ready to rant and rave over the prices but did just fine. When fur was fair, average beaver 65.00. dogs (coyotes) 75.00, rats 5 to 7 or8 big rats. All my traps are down in the shot. I help out out farmers with beaver problems but that's it You no longer can live of the land trapping, what a shame. If you wanted you could make500.00 a week but those times are gone forever. The best to ya. Alberta Canada

      @fabiancanada8876 Год назад +3

      Inflation adjusted that would be 160$ for red fox and 80$ for raccoon now. Instead more like 20 for fox and 10 for racoon? At the same time there are basically no well paying jobs and you have to be self employed or be lucky and have a good business.. Tough times for most people and it keeps getting worse. I feel sad for my children and have no idea what they should do.

    • @Lure-Benson
      @Lure-Benson Год назад

      @@fabiancanada8876 In the US state of Utah has a $50 coyote bounty program I hunt in.
      It is great with a state government check for the scalps and lower jaw so not skinning and selling hides.
      The program is listed on the Internet under Utah Coyote state bounty program.
      I use a FoxPro caller - AR 15 in 17 Remington and an AR 10 in 6mm-284 win for long shots I have used a Tikka T3 Ultra-light in 7 mm Re mag shooting 125 grain bullets that carry a very long ranger with little bullet drop.

      @trappingtoday  Год назад

      sure is!

    • @fabiancanada8876
      @fabiancanada8876 Год назад

      A new average truck is around 75k (CAD) here with about 7$/gallon for gas. Insurance around 1500 CAD/year. And you better dont need any repairs, mentainance, new tires or anything like that. Minimum wage is 15 $/h and a lot of people are working for that. As a skilled person you would be hard to get more than 25$/h. So you can pretty much forget employment here in Nova Scotia (with a few exceptions like teachers e.g.) and need to be self employed/have a business which isn't easy to start/run either (at least not in the beginning). You can get a decent house for about 300k at 6% financing. Food is really expensive.

    For many years the state of Utah has a coyote bounty program that pays $50 per coyote - only need to take the lower jaw and scalp then get your state check for total coyotes killed.
    Just look it up Utah state coyote bounty program.
    To cut cost I put a motor kit on a bike I bought at goodwill for $10 so it runs on a liter of full for a week for driving back roads.
    Any gun can be used when you aren't saving the fur, and an electronic caller really brings in the Yotes.
