    Fuel vaporisation causes poor hot starting after a journey (heat soak) and can cause air bubbles in filters & breakdowns. Fitting a 3 way filter with a tank return for the aerated fuel in place of the straight filter should fix it.

      Or after your main filter, as the return line gets clogged MUCH easier, so you'll be changing filters WAY more often if you don't prefilter. Only really an issue if you have a dirty tank though.

    I wasn’t paying attention and install mine. Started up great, fuel filter full of fuel. Realize I got the side that said “IN“ on the carb side. So I swapped it with the OUT on the carb side and now it’s doing the same thing. That’s with my 71 Cutlass and it’s doing the same thing on my 79 Camaro and I changed the whole entire fuel system and it. I think the IN side is suppose to face the carb with just bad product word placement. Who knows. Lol

      It’s just a bad design, ditch it and get a Wix or other filter

    Your best off to drop the tank cleaned out and reinstall it or put a brand new taken place this way you know it’s gonna be clean

    I have the same filter on my Chevy 73 but when I go above 30 it starts bogging and shuts off and when I check the filter it’s empty and the pump isn’t pushing as much gas

    • @Foxcanfixit
      @Foxcanfixit  Год назад +1

      Yeah, get rid of that filter, get a Wix clear plastic filter. Then if you have issues it may be the pump or a line restriction

    Hello thank you for your video was great? I have a question , which is your opinion about chrome canister fuel filt? That you used in your video because , I have one but I do not know if will be better reemplace it for universal plastic fuel filt , thank you for your support

    • @Foxcanfixit
      @Foxcanfixit  Год назад

      I think the universal plastic ones are better. They make them in 1/4, 5/16 and 3/8 line sizes

    Can't a guy spray starting fluid in a short burst to get a little surge of the engine when you hit the mark ?

    • @Foxcanfixit
      @Foxcanfixit  Год назад

      That or brake fluid or carb cleaner, yep any of those will find an air/vacuum leak around the intake or carb, but I don’t think it would find an air leak in a fuel line.

  • @gtzglvez
    @gtzglvez 2 года назад +1

    Bypass the main fuel line..20 ft fuel hose should do..straight to the gas tank and you will see it its your main fuel line on frame....my symptoms were air bubbles and no fuel to fuel pump

  • @trainguy1218
    @trainguy1218 2 года назад +2

    Seems air may be drawing into the input (suction) side of the fuel pump due to an internal leak in the pump body. Old pumps can do that. Is yours original? That would seem to be the most obvious bad part of system. Esp an old pump with an old, worn pumping parts. Try a new, or temp pump anyway and see what happens? Hope it helps!! :) DL

    • @Foxcanfixit
      @Foxcanfixit  2 года назад

    is that glass filter good for injection engine ??

    • @Foxcanfixit
      @Foxcanfixit  2 года назад +1

      Absolutely not, it wasn’t even good for the carbureted ones. It’s breakable, the ends can loosen from continued vibration, the seals fail, etc, these are terrible.

      They actually just fine. People that dont regularly check them and mount them in bad locations complain the most about them.

    Anyone have a problem where upon replacing the fuel tank, the line is sucking air out of a full tank? Obviously something came undone in the tank or the arm is stuck in the up position, but the sending unit was new as well and worked for about 3 tanks. WTF

    • @Foxcanfixit
      @Foxcanfixit  3 года назад

      Could have a hole in the plastic line that connects to the tank sending unit. They are prone to cracking as they age.

  • @GMC.Sonoma.4.3

    You routed the fuel filter somewhere where this is too much slack and that’s what’s causing a lot of your problems here. Not just the rust

    • @Foxcanfixit
      @Foxcanfixit  3 года назад

      It was a bit higher than usual, but it’s the same setup as an old mechanical pump diesel and they work just fine. However, i see your point and would have moved it if I kept it.

    • @Foxcanfixit
      @Foxcanfixit  3 года назад

      It’s was indeed part of the problem.

    • @KelseySchier
      @KelseySchier 3 года назад

      How could too much slack in the line cause the problem? Just trying to understand, I have multiple fuel issues going on.

    • @GMC.Sonoma.4.3
      @GMC.Sonoma.4.3 3 года назад +1

      @@KelseySchier it can restrict fuep floe and when your vehicle runs low on fuel. It wont have much of anything it can suck in because tye slack keeps gas in the center of the slacking point. Ive dealt with those issues before also.
