    I have this unit, took me week to figure out there was an issue. The filter allows lint to plow by and block the heat pump coils, causing it to increase dry times and over heating. However, there is fix, a couple videos on RUclips show the fix, add weather stripping to back, and bottom and top. I did this and now have never had any lint in the lower drain plug filter. Works great now, no issues. I was super frustrated until I figured this out.

      I know exactly the post you are referring to. I am using the silicone sealant around the filter. I also clean out the filter and area after EVERY use (and when using the new Pet hair feature, I clean the filter before the wash starts, to remove hair and dander from the filter). I've never had clumps of lint inside the filter chamber. My machine is 7 months old and I really love it. Fingers crossed that the machine will last - for both of us. Good luck!

    I bought one of these in Dec 2023. I love this machine. Being able to put a load in and have it come out clean and dry is great. As with any washer/dryer, (separates or all in one) maintenance is important. The more loads you do, the more often the cleaning of the machine(s) is required.
    1. I modified the filter. This is something GE should have done. There is a youtuber that added weather stripping along the top and bottom edge of the filter and along the back. This reduces the lint that can get past the filter in these locations. Since doing so I have found little to no lint on the blue fins of the condensing coil.
    2. I regularly vacuum out the filter housing. Also, I clean the filter after every load.
    3. You have to clean the water pump filter also. If you have pets you need to do this more frequently. I have no pets so I do on the first of each month.
    4. The youtuber that came up with the filter mod also has a video on how to do a deep cleaning. Again how often you do this depends on the number of loads you do.
    It should be noted that even with a separate dryer, lint is a problem that needs to be addressed. You will need to not only clean the filter and the area around it, but you will also need to clean the duct work. This include the duct in the machine as well as the duct work that vents outside.
    So maintenance on the GE Profile all in one, is different but no more than on separates. It has to be done on a regular basis. What I saw in this video was the water pump filter had excessive build up. With pets and several kids, this filter needs to be cleaned more frequently.
    A recent GE update adds a pet cycle at the beginning of a wash cycle. It is in the menu section. It adds a cold air cycle, where high speed air is blown in and run through the filter. This dry air helps to reduce pet hair prior to washing.
    GE: Please modify the filter to include seal around the edges of the filter. We should not have to do this ourselves.

      @@maf11300 I agree. They also need to update the manual with monthly cleaning of the pump and cleaning the lint filter every single time, like you mentioned. Following the guidelines they have written will set you up for failure, fast.

    I just want to state that if your cylindrical filter, came out just like that in this video, something was definitely out of waked! I have been seeing a common pattern here about combos W&D. Please make sure you read the instructions and make research before you purchase.
    I will mention 3 important factors here. 1- if you are a family of 5 that only do laundry on Sundays this machine is not for you 2- Max load says 10 Pounds at time I have try 15 and 20 but selecting garments per materials type 3- DO NOT use softener under no circumstances.
    Things I notice from your video, sticky lint coming out of the main filter with long strains with heavy secondary foam filter buildup, an unusually clogged lower cylindrical filter and lastly a heavy discoloration of the microban color on the main seal. Ours have been working flawlessly for now I will keep all updated
    Thanks for the excellent content as usual !

    In case this helps anyone, this was our fix. We had the same 353 error code issue and the machine was getting really hot. Same thing with GE telling us it is out of warranty. We watched a lot of videos and did the same that everyone suggested, we washed the foam filter. The last tech that came out to look at it asked if we washed the filter and I said yes. He washed the ENTIRE filter with warm water. The part of the filter you see at 2:45 we never even thought of washing and that is what was clogged. After washing the white mesh part of the filter, the machine started working normally again.

    We also experienced the Error Code 353 overheating issue. I had it looked at the next day and our tech said the diagnostic test indicated everything was operating within normal limits. The filter, coils, and drain filter were clean. I think the problem was the sensor kept detecting wetness/humidity and kept it drying too long. We switched to timed drying for a while and had no issues. Eventually returned to auto sensor drying and experienced the problem again. With a flashlight I saw there was a lot of wet lint inside the machine that wasn't getting dried out and making it to the filter to be collected and removed. This was probably the source of moisture that kept the dryer running until it overheated. It was difficult to access and remove, and a large clump fell back down into the machine, but after washing a load it all collected in the drain filter. Haven't had a problem since getting that wet lint out of the machine. There really needs to be a service opening for the user to have better access to clean the coils and the large area before (to the left of) the filter to keep things clean. It is ridiculous trying to keep everything clean going through the narrow filter opening.

    • @tanvach
      @tanvach 4 дня назад

      This makes a lot of sense. I just deep cleaned the left side of the lint filter cavity and got a squirrel sized lump of lint out! Even though I clean the filter area regularly after 2-3 loads. The lint lump was causing a lot of moisture absorption and extending the dry time by a lot.

    Yep, same here- 9 months and the machine no longer dried our laundry. Luckily we were still able to wash after the repairman left and were given the suggestion of setting the dry time for even longer than the almost 2 hours we had been setting it for. We had the same experience with the delay in receiving the parts but the customer service was great. They extended our warranty by 9 months and sent free cleaning brushes. It took about a month to get parts (the heat pump had to be replaced) but we’ve had no issue since the repair. Fingers crossed!

    Thanks for the review on the GE UltraFast Combo!
    We have had our Ultrafast since June and so far so good for operation. Since the beginning the one issue has been lint getting past the filter with GE not offering a solution on their own. Would be nice for GE to develop a lint trap with a thin rubber gasket to go around the entire lint trap to get a better seal.
    However, there are video’s showing Modification’s by adding foam door seals to help the issue. I operated it without the modification and it was ok, however there was much build up for lint WAY IN THE BACK cut out for the lint filter. I attached a 1 inch foam filter to the back of the filter from one of those video’s and that helped a lot to block the lint buildup in that area of the trap. Before I had a very little lint buildup on the COILS, since the modification even less has occurred if any. I have not done the gasket modification for the bottom or top of the lint trap and not sure whether I will do such at this point. I do get a little lint on the very top of the trap but it generally is clinging to the back filter.
    Been cleaning the lint trap after every load and the PUMP FILTER (bottom trap door on front of the Ultrafast) every month. However not doing so many loads as you are doing with your busy family life. Those video clips included do show LOTS of build up especially that pump filter, was most of that hair? That was unreal when I saw that filter being so clogged. You may have needed to clean that area twice a month with that much buildup. I know WHY SHOULD I GO THOUGH ALL THESE HOOPS. I get it!
    Sorry you had so much trouble with the GE Ultrafast, just glad you were able to get a refund to apply to another system to suit your family needs. Good luck!

I would not even know where to start with that much laundry! LOL I did do the Filter Lint fix as mentioned below because I was a bit paranoid about the lint build up on the heat pump coils. Since doing that minor upgrade no lint is passing through. My only maintenance now is to run warm water through the fabric softener auto dispenser as I have had issues where the softener "gunk" built up. CAVET EMPTOR! We bought this combo in January 2024. On June 1, 2024 it failed. Repairman stated it was the control boards which they had to order. One month later the control boards came in and then they decided it was the discharge pump too that was bad. Another 6 weeks waiting for the pump to come in. Finally got the thing repaired today on September 3. OVER 3 MONTHS with no washer/dryer. He also stated that 12 other people in my area that purchased these have/had exactly the same problems.
    Before the repairman left, he indicated that based on his experience, he will be back to repair in the future as there seems to be a design flaw in that homeowners are not able to remove lint/hair in certain areas of the machine which are hard to reach or unreachable all together. Now we are in a position wondering if when we press the start button, will it work?
    This is really unacceptable. This unit is NOT inexpensive-very high price to buy. GE should stand behind and totally refund everyone that purchased one of these faulty machines-else I predict a class action against GE on the horizon.

      I want to post this for you in case it may help.

    I would be surprised if you get less than 10 years from the Speed Queen set, but I would be far more surprised if you get more than 20 years. Speed Queen is good with regard to reliability, and they are way better than the GE, but they are not as bulletproof as Alliance wants people to believe.
    Also, this TR set has a different wash action from traditional top load washers with agitators (& the TC series). My experience is that its cleaning performance of the TRs is on par with top loads that don't have an agitator, but can't compete with traditional agitators or with front load washers. I will be interested to hear if you find it adequate for the laundry you do.

    • @thehometownhomestead
      @thehometownhomestead  3 месяца назад +1

      At this point, clothes are cleaner than our Maytag (the set we initially replaced) top loader without the agitator. Also cleaner than the GE. I rarely have a shirt come out with spots still on it, even without spot treating all that the kids come home with. 😆
      Even with the GE, I often had to run their shirts through a 2nd time with stain remover to get them clean.
      I was aware of the difference in the TC and TR, but thought this one would be best for us. I’ll keep you posted if a problem should arise, but so far so good!

    So that GE had a spin speed of 1,300 RPM and was a heat pump dryer, so it used less than 1 kWh to wash and dry a load of clothes... the SperdQuern has a spin speed of 710 RPM and uses a 6,000 watt resistive heating element to boil out all that water the asthmatic spin in the washer couldn't get out, and then blows all that energy out of a 4 inch hole in the wall, consuming well over 4 kWh for a *smaller* load of clothes. All because GE botched the heat pump part of their combo, untold terawatt-hours of electricity will be wasted by people going back to vented fire-starter dryers. 😢

They absolutely do last forever and have quick cycles. Because that's *all* they were designed to do. lol

    • @kwhopper1100
      @kwhopper1100 Месяц назад

      @@dregenius it replaced a high speed front loader . It spins it out just as well the drying times are exactly the same . What actually changed is the washer is three times faster than the GE front loader it replaced . So even at 35 minute drying cycles which is what our dryer does it out runs the dryer . The GE front loader which destroyed itself after 8 months took one hour to wash a load of clothes and didn’t spin them out any better . Also what’s better for the environment , replacing a washer every year or two ? Or buying one machine that lasts 25 years and doesn’t create a lot of extra pollution due to manufacturing replacements over and over ? And like I said we simply hang out clothes to save energy anyways so a lot of the time our dryer does not run at all thus avoiding extra heat in the house to get rid of as well as eliminating the electrical use entirely .

The dryers take 30 to 40 minutes to thoroughly dry even large loads. And that is entirely too much work and effort in maintaining the machine. And I did reach out to GE customer service and detailed this issue as well as the quick field fix lol that was three months ago never heard anything back but they may be designing a new filter
    Plus, you should be cleaning the lint filter after every cycle common sense says just like you would do after every cycle on your dryer
    In my opinion, GE never should’ve said to only clean every five cycles that was probably done as a marketing convenience factor ploy.
    Unfortunately, also sounds like you were the victim of a repair person that was not very bright. They should not have left the unit down and out. They should’ve left it to where you could still continue to wash only so that is on them.
