One of the best videos on this unit, and I feel like I've watched them all. This couple also seems cool as hell
Thanks so much, @FunkyKong! We really appreciate the kind words and are glad you enjoyed the video. That GE all-in-one washer dryer has been a great addition, and we're happy to share our experience. If you have any questions or need more info, feel free to ask. And hey, we try to keep things cool and down to earth-glad it comes across!
On a side note, this is how a couple is supposed to be. Both helping each other for life. She's a gem & loves her guy & has no problem with being a real wife. I'm lucky to have the same. Great video guys! 👍
Thank you so much! We’re both really grateful for what we have and love working together on everything life throws at us. It’s wonderful to hear that you and your wife share that same partnership-there’s nothing like having someone who’s truly by your side. We appreciate your kind words and are glad you enjoyed the video! 👍
This is one of the best things about the Internet. The longer this product is out on the market, the more real world reviews we’ll get. I love reviews like this. It shows what the machine is really all about. With that being said, I think I’ll wait before I purchase one like this because it seems like they still have a lot of kinks to work out with lint issues.
I agree I think that newer generations will have worked out the maintenance needs. Thank you and have a great day!
@@GrowingABetterTomorrow Nope.... GE just released another model. A few less features. Added Steam feature, removed Bulk Soap dispenser and Bulk Softener... and guess what, same filter design.
Also just watched your Video. Your condenser / coil is loaded. It's not just the area you see with the flashlight. This coil goes deep into the machine on the left and rows of coils internal also collect lint and hair. We highly recommend you follow our flushing procedure. You will be amazed how much will come out of the coil. Also, unseen is another drain under the could that collects the condensed moisture. That drain also needs to be flushed and is part of the flushing process.
Also, when you insert the Drain Filter, always make sure the Basket is in the correct position before inserting. This can cause you to think it is inserted correctly if you do not position it correct. Also, there is a marking on the housing showing a locked position. This is hard to see and will usually require you to FIRMLY continue to tighten the filter until you see it line up with the markings.
Thanks for watching the video and for the advice! I didn’t realize how much deeper the coil could be loaded. I’d definitely like to follow your flushing procedure-could you share a link to it? I also appreciate the tips on properly inserting the Drain Filter. Making sure it’s lined up correctly is something I’ll pay close attention to. Thanks again for the help!
@@GrowingABetterTomorrow different washer dryers in the UK don't have lint filters they just have the filter at the bottom
@@GrowingABetterTomorrow This is what he's talking about: ruclips.net/video/lA1RLbfGRpQ/видео.html I did it on my machine and it worked great.
We’ve had an LG all in one ventless washer/dryer combo for 10 years with zero issues (purchased from Lowe’s). It works on a condenser. Before that we had a similar model Haier for 10 years and had no problems with that one either (stayed with the house when we moved). We hang dry clothing and use the dryer for sheets and towels. The most important key to longevity is to make sure you’re running the clean cycle and checking the filter every 1-2 months. I will never go back to the traditional separate appliance system.
Oh and we live in the woods with a dog and two cats and do an average of one load per day.
Hi @readyornot316,
Thank you for sharing your experience with the LG and Haier all-in-one ventless washer/dryer combos. It's great to hear that you've had such a positive experience with these units for the past 20 years!
We also make sure to run the clean cycle regularly and check the filter frequently. Your advice on maintenance is spot on, and it's reassuring to hear that it has contributed to the longevity of your appliances.
We’re still getting used to our unit and learning the best practices for maintaining it, but it’s encouraging to know that with proper care, these machines can last a long time.
Thanks again for your valuable insights!
Best regards,
Kevin
I have heard that LG one is also kill it glad to hear!!!!
Which LG? I would like to purchase the same one. Thanks!
@@christopherkramer7223 After a quick search on Lowe’s website, my model is no longer available.
However, Home Depot does have a couple of LG combo units on sale right now.
@@christopherkramer7223The older model the comment mentioned is the WM3998, which is based on old, inefficient, energy-hogging cold water condensing technology. LG has a new model, the WM6998, that utilizes a heat pump much like the GE, with the benefit that it cleans its own evaporator coil with water after each dry cycle.
You guys are so refreshingly honest and straight up lovely❤
Thank you for all your detailed informations and advises 🙏💖
Thank you so much for the kind words we really appreciate it! Have a great day!
We have had the same unit for almost a year. My husband is a diesel fleet mechanic and my son is an electrical lineman. Like you, their clothes can get pretty grungy. We have a tech coming to look at ours Monday. It quit draining water/drying clothes. Hopefully it’s an easy fix because I have loved this machine. The maintenance is more than any other machine we’ve owned. I definitely need to get the vacuum and brushes you guys recommended. Thank you for sharing your experiences. ❤
@SewCrazi Thanks for sharing your experience! It sounds like your family really puts the machine to the test-diesel mechanic and electrical lineman clothes must keep it busy! I completely understand the challenges with maintenance; it’s definitely more involved than most machines, but I agree, it's been a solid machine overall. I’ll be making an update video soon and will try to walk through how to run the system diagnostics on the unit. Hopefully, this helps in case any other issues come up down the road. Thanks for watching, and good luck with the tech visit! ❤
These machines have a lot of conveniences, however they have not been put through enough testing long-term testing. I do believe that in the long run, they will have issues, especially if constant maintenance isn't done..
I had a heat pump dryer. I sold it. I couldn't take the constant cleaning of it and I'm single.
I went back to my vented dryer hallelujah I could do three dry cycles in no time and never have to worry about the filter.
They aren't new. They just haven't been very common in the US.
I agree. Any time saved by the added convenience of not having to shuffle clothes from the washer to the dryer is wiped out by all the maintenance. It reminds me of one of the early Roomba robotic vacuum cleaners I had. It required constant cleaning and maintenance in order to keep it running. I eventually got to the point where I just got rid of it and went back to manual vacuuming. Now though, I have a much newer model and it requires very little maintenance and actually saves time. My hope is that these washer/dryer combo heat pump units will mature and become reliable and require little maintenance.
@@spitzer1113 very well said I agree it's in too early of a stage for reliability. I know they're gonna say that they've been around in Europe for a long time but here in the US things are different.
@@petermaz701A VERY long time. We have had washer dryers in the UK since the 80s. We do still have separate washers and dryers too. Top load washers are not common in the UK, only ones we have come from the US. Our major manufacturers of washing machines haven’t offered top loaders for decades because nobody wants them, lol.
I just purchased the unit and started looking online after my purchase. I was excited because the review rating was high and many reviews at that. I did take a tip from one you tube video to put extra weather stripping on the pull out vent which made sense to block more debris to getting to the coils. I clean my every cycle too. I def will buy the brunch you recommended. Lucky I don’t have any animals but I’m still excited for this machine. I don’t mind the extra maintenance as single man who lives alone with adhd this has huge benefits! I’d love to see your update from your last video to see how things have been going since you used the new brush! Thanks for the video!
@NunYa-g2e Congratulations on your purchase! It sounds like you're off to a great start with the extra weather stripping and regular maintenance. Those little tweaks can make a big difference in keeping the unit running smoothly. I completely get why this machine appeals to you-it's a game-changer for simplifying laundry, especially for a single person managing a busy life.
I'll definitely share an update soon on how things are going with the new brush and other maintenance tips. Thanks for watching and sharing your enthusiasm-best of luck with your new machine!
I love mine. Bought in Dec 23. There is just me with no pets. Since i did the filter mod, the coils remain clean. The guy that came up with the filter mod also shows how to do a deep cleaning with a sprayer. Sonce the unit os a sealed system, with the drain oppened all the water will flow out as you do the deep clean.
If doing multiple loads, it is not really double the time of separate units. You only save the time of one drying cycle with separates.
The ease of use is what i like. You just set it and forget it. When i had separates, i had to clean the dryer filter after ever load. So, there is no difference on filter cleaning.
This is an amazing unit. The LG and Samsung appear to be good also. They include more cycle options but really do you need 32 cycles? All 3 have advantages and disadvantages. GE comes with a 5 year heat pump warranty, the others are 1 year.
If you are looking for energy savings than a heat pump system is a great option.
Hi @maf11300,
Thanks for sharing your experience with your unit and the filter mod. It sounds like you've got a great system in place to keep it running smoothly. I agree, the ease of use is a major benefit - setting it and forgetting it saves so much time and hassle.
The deep cleaning method with a sprayer is a fantastic tip, especially since the unit is sealed and drains all the water out. It’s helpful to know that, with multiple loads, the time saved is mostly just one drying cycle, which isn't a big deal in the grand scheme.
I also appreciate your point about cycle options - do we really need 32 cycles? Sometimes simplicity is best. The 5-year heat pump warranty from GE is a significant advantage too.
Thanks again for your detailed insights!
Best,
Kevin
WOW. You just clearly showed the obvious design flaw(s) of this all-in-one GE I wanted to buy... I'll wait until GE resolves the issue(s), if ever, or look at other brands like Miele or LG... Aren't these machines supposed to make our lives easier? lol. THANK'S for this great review!!!
Thank you for such a thorough review. I'll keep my 30 year old Kenmore.
Purchased the LG heat pump dryer, the most recent one with the condenser access on lower right front, have had no issues with it for 6 months. Open the condenser cover and it was still clean. I think the separate washer and dryer units do better job.
Thanks for sharing
everyone overlooks one extremely critical and valuable aspect of this washer/dryer technolgy. My old typical American dryer used 6kw of energy from a 240vac recepticle. my GE unit uses, at the most 1kw but more like 800w to 900w of power. So figure out what your energy costs are in your area, mine are crazy expensive. Old dryer would take about the same time to dry a load as the GE so every hour I use it thats 6kwh vs 1kwh. and the cost of energy will never go down, that I assure you. Also why is it, for some reason, Americans just don't like to read the manual or ever do any maintenance? Even old-style W/D's require maintenance, no mechanical/electrical device on the planet is 100% maintenance-free. But Americans want to just plug and play and forget, and when it breaks blame anything but their lack of maintenance. This savings is helping to defray the GE's purchase costs. Also I recovered a 240vac breaker in the panel. I then repurposed that circuit to a 120vac 30 amp breaker and now have the extra space to put a commercial freezer there and pretty much run it for free with all the savings. Everyone that says "I would never buy it because you have to do maintenance" I just wonder if they are doing any maintenance at all on anything they own. Thanks for the video as the lint issue is the only weak part of the unit and I never knew of the secret hidden lint area on the left so I bought the brush and the vacuum extension to help take care of that. But it seems even with that curved brush, there is still lint that in not being removed so I also bought the GE extended warranty so I am concerned for 5 years. Also one last point, the majority of house fires in the USA are from dryer vents getting lint build up. I wonder how many people periodically clean out the lint in the vent? I would add that to the list of maintenance that is required by a homeowner before your house burns down
Great Video, thanks all very helpful points, I have followed all your advice and leave my filter out after I cleaned it and I finished with the machine, I found that the moisture inside makes the lind stick to the inside housing and cakes things up, I noticed this when my glasses fogged up while I was inspecting inside the lind filter hole, now Ieave the filter out and the door slightly ajar
Excellent video guys! GE came so close to a Homerun with this unit, but it does need the manufacture modifications in order to improve it regarding filtration.… I would give them at least a double for an excellent attempt
The should add a side door on the left to access the tunnel that goes up to the filter.
I'm all about saving energy and in fact I'm a retired energy management designer / programmer, specializing in HVAC equipment. Thanks for making this video, it's very interesting and I can see that this machine must've set you back a fancy penny. I've spent a lifetime working with heat pumps - so my question is: where does the needed heat come from in the colder months? Are you feeling cold air blowing around the machine in the winter? A heat pump has heat on one end and cold on the other. When you calculate energy savings, if this machine is taking heat out of your home in the winter, that has to be taken into consideration too when calculating energy savings. Anyway, good luck with this machine. My advice though, is don't give up that 240 VAC receptacle, you may be opting to get your old machines back!
Hi @BernWag,
Thank you for your insightful comment and for sharing your background in energy management and HVAC systems. I'm glad you found the video interesting!
We live in a passive solar, super-insulated saltbox home with an open-envelope design. We built our home in 1984, and it includes a fan that circulates air from our thermal mass below the floor. Because of this setup, we don't detect any noticeable difference in room temperature, even during the colder months.
Your point about heat pumps and energy savings is very valid. In our specific case, the home's design and insulation level help mitigate any potential heat loss from the heat pump dryer. This might not be the case in less insulated homes, where heat extraction by the dryer could indeed impact overall energy savings.
Thanks again for your advice and interest in our experience with this machine!
Best regards,
Kevin
@@GrowingABetterTomorrow Thanks for the reply Kevin. I'll subscribe and watch more of your vids, this is the first one I've seen. I love the idea of passive solar and I'm toying with the idea of a small greenhouse with geothermal assist. I'm also hoping by next year to have a PV system installed and I'd like to get most if not all of my energy (including an EV truck) from solar. I'm currently converting my own HVAC from oil based to heat pumps (these mini-split heat pumps are pretty amazing). Anyway, thanks again for sharing your experience, looks like we have a lot in common, including Carhartt shirts that usually have some kind of oil on them! LOL
best to you both

REALLY?? YOU DID THIS FOR A LIVING AND YOU DONT KNOW THAT IT IS JUST A TRANSFER OF HEAT???
@@johngallati8164 Are you talking to me? Your rant seems to be unfocused. How about you ask, specifically, what your question or concern might be? I'd be glad to set you straight.
It's a closed loop system so it recirculates the same air and as the condensor coils remove the moisture from the air it warms the air up, but it's the moisture removal process that dries the clothes so your clothes dry at much lower temperature than a regular dryer which prevents your clothes from shrinking etc. Its much more gentle on your clothes and delicate fabrics will last longer. But it helps to have the unit in a dry space with warm air and not in a cold, damp basement.
Came here to see how to clean lint trap now ordering some stuff but i still load mine max but found out if i changed my spin setting to max i dont have the issues with drying so try that see if it works for you 🤷♂️
Thanks for all the great information. This is what I look for in a product review.
You are so welcome!
I’ve had mine for 11 months now and it just stopped drying. I came home from work the other day and found two breakers were tripped - one was the washer outlet. I corrected the breaker problem and set the washer to “rinse and dry” because I wasn’t sure when or why the breakers were tripped. It didn’t dry the first time, or the second and third times either. Iv’e not gotten an error code, but now no water pumps into the washer, and approximately three minutes after being set to run a load, the machines announces that the cycle is completed and turns itself off. 😢
Thanks for sharing your experience, and I’m sorry to hear about the trouble you’re having. We’re planning to post an update soon about our washer/dryer after using it for a year, so stay tuned for more insights.
In the meantime, have you tried running the unit’s self-diagnostics? It can help identify the issue and guide you toward a solution. Usually, this involves pressing certain buttons in sequence or accessing a service menu.
I’d be happy to make a video on how to run diagnostic tests for these machines-hopefully, it’ll be helpful for you and others facing similar issues!
thank you we are considering this for our new build this or the samsung
My 37 year old Maytag top loader needs maintenance too, I turn it on.
Can you tell me how to change the menu I acidity put the dog hair setting on and don't no how to turn off
Hi @dianajohnson6293! To turn off the dog hair setting, navigate to the menu on your control panel, then look for either 'Wash Options' or 'Special Cycles' (this depends on your model). From there, find the 'Pet Hair Removal' option, and simply deselect it to turn it off. That should do the trick! Let me know if you need any more help.
I was intrigued by these all in one washer dryer units. However, this is exactly what I expected, based on experience with pretty much anything manufactured today.
Edit: instead of the two in one filter, it needs to be designed with a lint filter and a separate filter in front of the coils. Anything that gets around the seals of this filter, or gets in there when you’re pulling the filter out, goes into the coils.
@jrhackman7414 You make an excellent point about the design challenges with these all-in-one units. I completely agree that separating the lint filter from the coil filter could improve functionality and maintenance. From my experience, I’ve noticed that the filter cartridge seems smaller than the channel it sits in, which likely allows lint to bypass the filter and accumulate where it shouldn't.
Additionally, I think the dispensers could use a redesign for easier cleaning and better accessibility. When units are designed for convenience but miss these key aspects, they end up requiring more effort to maintain properly. Hopefully, manufacturers take feedback like this into account for future models!
Nobody has time to do all this cleaning and maintenance. We simply want to use the machine and be done with it. I think washing clothes in a wash tub with a wringer is more effective at this point. Regulations and obsessions with energy efficiency have ruined laundry machines. It’s not just these new “one and done” machines, but ALL of them. Top loaders don’t use enough water, and the front loaders aren’t much better. I am seriously thinking about making my own “dasher” manual washer or setting up a double wash tub with a wringer. When I first got married around 2005 I remember we bought a cheap “Roper” brand washer and dryer. Never had a problem. In 2014 we bought a new GE top loader and it didn’t use enough water and the agitator seemed rather weak. I’m very unhappy with what happened to laundry machines! They’re all ineffective and seem cheaply made. We just bought another new set and it doesn’t even have the porcelain enamel on it anymore! The top of the dryer also isn’t flat so you can’t put folded laundry on it!
I've seen many of the YT videos on this issue. As a life-long construction equipment design/development engineer and manager, I am amazed how consumer products are just not tested thoroughly and fundamental design issues addressed. I see it all the time. Consumer products are short-lived, throwaway items.
I'm guessing the venting system was designed and after limited testing, where they must have seen this lint issue, it was decided it was too late to change the design and tooling and they needed to get this onto the market. Appropriate warranty costs were built into the project financials for this potential issue.
From what I've seen, the major issue is the lack of access to clean out the passageways and fins. Just adding a simple, opening top cover would solve this design flaw. Also, to make things worse, the lint filter itself is not well sealed in its slot, allowing material to bypass and get stuck on the face of the condenser/evaporator.
I certainly wouldn't buy one. We have a Whirlpool Cabrio top loader and natural gas dryer. 7++ years and they still operate perfectly with no issues. If one breaks, only one needs replacing, plus we can dry and wash in parallel!
Yes, I agree-it seems like much of it comes down to company culture today. There’s a heavy focus on rushing to market and making sales rather than going back to first principles and addressing fundamental design issues. Thorough testing and long-term reliability seem to take a backseat, which is frustrating to see, especially for products that could easily be improved with small design changes like better access for cleaning or a properly sealed lint filter.
That was a great video thank you. I just got my machine.
Hi Kevin. Do you use fabric softener? I have found that if you get the 353 error, it is some times caused by fabric softener buildup on the lint filter. I wash my filter under running water every 50 cycles with a soft scrub brush and no longer have any issues.
No we don't use a fabric softener and Thea does carefully wash the filter each time that it is used. It's a bit more maintenance but it seems to be working! Thanks for the thoughts! Have a great day
I've been looking at a few of these lately and the Bespoke 5.3 cu ft Combo by Samsung seems to be the Best one out of the bunch and cheapest
Cleaning lint for my 20 yo Kenmore dryer takes 10 seconds. Never had a problem, except one gas solenoid went bad. I replaced it.
WOW! What a PITA. Was considering one of these for a 2nd upstairs option because we're getting less able to do stairs. Not now! Much better off drilling a giant hole in the house for a traditional gas vent dryer. What a mess.
Yeah, I totally get it! Ventless dryers can be a real hassle, especially with all the maintenance they require. For an upstairs option, a traditional gas vent dryer might save you a lot of time and frustration in the long run. Sometimes going with what’s tried and true is just simpler and more reliable, even if it means a bigger installation job. Thanks for sharing your thoughts-definitely something to consider!
Hi Kevin, your video has been extemely helpful. New owner with pets and already stressing over the hair build up. 60 plus widow trying to be my own handyman. While cleaning the lint area with a swifter, the fluffy duster part fell off the pole and fell down that hole. I am unable to reach it with a claw tool. Will this damage my machine?
I'm so sorry that it's taking me so long to respond to your question. And I'm not certain but I would contact the company technician they were very helpful when they came out and took the unit apart so that we could see how the system operates internal operations. Again I'm sorry that it's taking me so long to respond. I hope things work out! And have a great day!
I bought the exact vac attachment and brush before I started using mine. Now I'm worried about this unit. Ugh
@TimTracy-vx7tf I hear you-these kinds of worries can be frustrating. We recently posted a 1-year review of this unit on our channel. While it’s honest about the pros and cons, it might help you decide the best way forward based on how it’s performed for us over time.
@GrowingABetterTomorrow Thank you.
Where's the filter mod video?
Wow! You really put that machine through its paces! I think most households don’t have that kind of debris demand for their laundry system. I’m actually more impressed with it now knowing how well that unit has done with your demands of it. And GE should pay ya’ll for trial testing their technology! Thank you for your very detailed video, it is much appreciated.
I wonder if you could blow that hole out from the air intake, where ever that is,lol. Avoiding residue from dryer sheets by not using them may help the gunk issue.
Hello. Have had this for 3 days. I put a small load in last night on quick wash setting. When I woke up my phone notified me that it had been running on combination load for 80 minutes? What does that mean ? Washed several loads before on same setting and it never said this ?
@daisymayla Hi! I'm not familiar with that specific message either. It sounds a bit unusual, especially since you've used the same setting before without any issues. It might be worth checking the manual or reaching out to the manufacturer's customer service for more detailed info
More than likely load could not spin out properly.

This technology is great, however the maintenance needs procedure needs to be simplified and more accessible.
I agree in interations of this product I think that they will make significant improvements in the maintenance requirements required for owners.
I have an all in one unit..I have the Samsung Version.. I haven’t ran into any of these issues, partially because the way it’s designed, the coils get flushed with a powerful water jet every cycle. I’ve never had a single issue, and I do like that the door automatically pops open once it’s complete to expel any moisture left over. If any of y’all are reading this- skip the GE Version. I had a GE Hydrowave back in 2011-2012 that broke because the water inlet to the tub completely broke off and wasn’t a good machine from the get..the dryer only lasted two months. Never again will I buy any GE product. Had my Samsung top loader for 10 years with no issues and just recently upgraded to the front loader.
Very useful information! Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
thank you guys for a such a good review
Yikes, it seems like it would be easier to hang the clothes out to dry if you’re trying to save energy. I just replaced my laundry pair, the washer and dryer are both energy star rated but don’t require this kind of maintenance.

I watched that video and I modified mine using brushed weather stripping around the outside of the filter case. It reduces the space for sliding in the filter so it will require a little more push to slide it in but it works really well.

Unfortunately for me, the door has locked twice in 14 months. Now I’m having to wait a week before I can get it fixed. The repairman had to break the lock to rescue my wet clothes. 🤦🏼♀️ Thank goodness I took out an extended warranty.
Oh no, that sounds so frustrating! It’s such a hassle when appliances act up, especially with wet clothes stuck inside. 🤦♀️ The extended warranty definitely sounds like a lifesaver in this situation. Hopefully, the repairman gets it sorted out quickly this time so you don’t have to deal with it again. Fingers crossed for a smoother experience going forward! 🙏
Odds are that the seal that leaked, a string or hair was in the seal and water whicked out along that fiber.
I was hoping GE would’ve already came out with 2.0 better versions
They came out with a new combo machine, same poor filter design.
How much does doing a load in a regular washer/dryer cost?
@@Warp2090 I never measured what it costs
23 cents
Seems to me that aside from the energy savings and the snazzy app 'n stuff... the BIG selling factor of an all-in-one machine is the time saved (30 seconds?) in manually moving a load from a washer to a dryer. But in order to save those meagre 30 seconds, this particular machine requires that you spend precious MINUTES constantly de-linting it. If you enjoy de-linting, I can confidently say this machine is for you!
I mean it depends on your needs or use case. The benefits to me is that it only takes up half the space, there's much more flexibility in placement, no need to vent, and only needing 120v outlet.
Thank you
I wish the lint filter opening was big enough so I could get in there with my hand!
I totally agree with you! It would be so much easier if the lint filter opening was larger. We’re hoping the next generation of these units will come with a much better filter system. That would make maintenance a lot more convenient!
@@GrowingABetterTomorrow I got a cleaning brush today, looks like it collected most of the nasty stuff from inside.
I'm really lucky that my Hotpoint heat pump tumble dryer has a flap and access point to reach the fins and clean them out if need be. The air goes through a filter in front of the loading door at the bottom. Then through a second filter at the front bottom left where the access for cleaning is. This means you can get easy access all the way along the air duct, heat exchangers and filters. GE should have done this, but I guess being a dryer and washer there is less space.
That sounds like a great design, Gavin! Having easy access to clean the fins and air ducts makes maintenance so much more manageable and efficient. GE definitely could have benefited from incorporating something similar, but as you said, the combo washer-dryer probably has space constraints that limit design flexibility. Thanks for sharing your insight-it's always interesting to hear how different brands approach these challenges!
holy smoke! Too much maintenance - way too much compared to conventional units.
It's not that bad!
@@peachyclean93 Keep selling yourself that lie from the devil - that is exactly what he wants you to think.
Conventional dryers plug with lint too. People just ignore it until it ignites and causes a house fire.
@@kathyern861 if the devil is real, surely he's got bigger fish to fry than what washer and dryer someone's using.
@@shawnsg The devil is real and he plans to fry you to a crisp. What are you going to do about that?
This washing machine needs it's own *build in lint vaccuum cleaner* 😂
Yes I agree, given that this is their first iteration of this product I think it's reasonable to expect some challenges and maintenance requirements. I just hope that we share the information so that as many people are aware of it before making the purchase. Often companies need as many as three generations before the product is refined to a point where it's very good. Thanks again and have an awesome day thank you!
we are deep in this hole 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 12:45 mark
I have had mine since 7/23. I love it, but it does require maintenance like anything else.
I agree, hopefully Thea and I will make an update video since she is the one who actually does the cleaning. However I do love the energy cost reduction and the improved space in the area. Thank you and have a great day!
I’ll pass… this is the kind of maintenance you’re saying people who don’t even know they’re driving down the street at night with their driving lights on only would have to do. I like my GE top load fill agitate drain rinse spin washing machine. Now they throw computerized technology at everything. Great video. My advice would be to learn how to take it apart yourself which you sound like you’re handy enough to do.
The filter is a big deal. Especially when it is not something new. All watching machines have them.
And yes, it is a pain to clean them, it seems engineers never have to clean something.
But, what I don't understand is this. Why do people like to wash in the daytime? Load it in the evening and the next morning everything is ready. Especially in Europe, because in the night electricity is cheaper.
Too much work for too little of savings. Maybe the 2nd generation will have some improvements.
THEY SHOULD HAVE MADE ALL THOSE AREAS EXCESSIBE
So after 5 years and no warranty throw it out. 1788.00 bucks to boot. No way.
To be honest... even standard separate dryers need cleaning... especially if you have a long vent run... Often those vents get clogged and the dryer struggles to dry clothes and exhaust the lint.. Just look up dryer vent cleaning on youtube and you'll be shocked
Thanks for being detailed, but I think you guys should have gotten a speed queen especially with all the cat hair and greese
Clean filters with water, use brush, vacuum, turn brush to remove excess lint. No thanks……
So you'd rather blow 6,000 watts of heat out of a 4 inch hole in the wall just so you can ignore any maintenance (well, until that huge red hot heating element in your boomer tech vented dryer catches the clogged vent on fire)?
That's too much work to keep it going. We have had standalone heat pump dryers in Europe for the past 15 years
IM SORRY BUT THEY NEED TO START PUTTING BETTER QUALITY IN THESE MACHINES IF THEY WANT ME TO BUY ONE...I KNOW OF 50 YEAR OLD MACHINES WITHOUT A PROBLEM STILL IN USE
Not new technology. Standard unit in europe
good vid.. i'll pass on this tech until it is more user friendly.
"Whole bunch of cats". grease and oil residue are one thing. But tons of cat hair is another.
Hard pass , tough work being a greeney
23 cent my eye!! How about the make up heat needed from your home heating system. Now if you live where it's warm all the time in the deep deep south it makes sense but even there you aren't going to do without make up heat from your home heating system. You fell for the biggest lie out there. Right next to heat pump hot water heaters. All heat gathered is extracted from your home!!
The concern here is about the energy use of certain heat-based appliances, like heat pump water heaters and heat-pump dryers, which extract heat from the air around them to perform their functions efficiently. This process does draw some warmth from the home, which could lead to a need for “make-up” heat, particularly in cooler climates.
Here's how it works:
Heat Pumps and Energy Use
Heat Pumps Are Efficient: Heat pump dryers and water heaters use compressors and refrigerants to transfer heat from one place (air in your home) to another (inside the dryer or water heater), rather than generating heat from electricity or gas. This is why they’re generally more energy-efficient-they’re simply moving heat rather than creating it from scratch.
Heat Loss and Replacement: When these units take heat from your home’s air, it creates a slight cooling effect in that room. In warm climates, this isn't a big deal and can even be beneficial since it reduces the indoor temperature a little. But in cold climates, especially in winter, this may mean your heating system has to work a bit harder to replace that small amount of lost warmth.
Impact Varies by Climate: In a cold climate, the heating system may run slightly more to offset this, whereas in a warmer region, this isn’t a concern. That’s why there’s sometimes debate on how efficient these units truly are in colder areas-they still save energy overall, but heating needs might go up slightly in the winter.
So Is It a “Lie”?
Not exactly! These appliances save energy and money overall, but in colder climates, the total energy savings may be a little lower due to extra heating costs.
At 14 minutes I know I will never buy one. Way to much to go through to clean that bad boy.
OMG that pocket is an absolute design flaw. Come on GE do better - seriously!
I don't want wrinkley shirts
Why would anyone want this type of high tech machine!
I asked my husband for a regular washer $200 bucks nooooooo.... My mother in law talked my husband into this thing it sucks and is super heavy takes about 4 hours to wash and only one blanket at a time🤦 I hate this thing as much I hate my mother in law
GE Should stop selling this unit. Nobody wants to pay $3000 for a machine to only have continued problems 3-5 months down the road. RUclips is loaded with videos posted on this machine with major issues. I’m definitely not buying this machine.
@kimmythequeen7611 I completely understand your frustration, and I agree that seeing so many negative experiences can make anyone hesitant. However, I believe constant innovation is key for companies to improve their products over time. My own experience with the GE all-in-one washer/dryer has been positive-we’ve had ours for nearly a year, and it’s been working well for us so far. That said, we’ll be sharing an update soon on how it’s performing long-term. Thanks for sharing your perspective-it’s important to highlight all experiences so companies can learn and improve!
