I’m surprised by how big these compact cars are getting. I wonder if the massive size of the midsize segment is a factor in why people aren’t buying them as much anymore.
Americans are getting fatter, so vehicles have to grow to fit them. Its like a woman's small t-shirt would be a large by 1950s American or even modern East-Asian standards.
Likely not, considering everyone is going after SUVs these days. Most consumers want size. Of course there’s the minority of us who still want their compact cars to be compact, though.
Funny how even generation Honda Civics always have a bit more zazz than odd generation Civics. The 8th gen was spacey and cool, the 9th was a snoozefest, the 10th was back to edgy and youthful and it looks like the 11th is trying to be the accountant blending into commuter traffic.

Well, I like it... I have a 9th Gen Civic and I like this new one. The Interior is very upscale and the exterior is very mature and elegant. It would be a perfect daily driver, with style and comfort. If you want more grip from the tires when cornering, just get better tires. I know very well that factory tires are not precisely the best ones.
Two weeks ago I was in a fence between this in EX trim and 2021 Sonata SEL because they basically in the same MSRP. The Sonata won and it is in my garage now. Let me explain why below. The advantages of the Sonata: * Rides better (I think the weight contributes also) and quieter with the double glass at the front row. * I felt that the 2.5 L engine in the Sonata has more power with instant torque than the Civic turbo. * Believe it or not it has flat cornering that I think better than the Civic EX. The Civic suspension is just too soft for my taste. * 100,000 miles warranty. * Bluelink is free for 3 long years. * Lot more space both in the interior and the trunk. * The lane-keeping assist feels more human-like. * Driver lumbar support. * It actually feels and looks sportier than the Civic. * 6-way power driver adjustment seats. The advantages of the 2022 Civic EX: * Better sound system. Sonata's sound system is nowhere near bad but the Civic EX sound system is just fantastic. * Better fuel economy > 3 more MPG * Sunroof * Additional USB charge port. The features and safety technologies are actually similar on these vehicles. If you are looking at this, I urge you to also look at the Hyundai Sonata.
I want to be so excited about this. As a Honda owner and someone who's appreciated their quality and reliability for years I have some feelings about those inconsistent panel gaps. At many angles it looks like the panel don't fit either closely enough or fit consistently. There's something about it that reminds me of looking at Dodge/Chrysler/Jeep products and feeling sorry for the folks who spent actual money on those. My love for any car manufacturer is always tempered by the fact that they're machines and can be duds or heroes with any redesign, even from a great company.

Engine block crack is a known defect in Honda Civics like mine and warranty was extended to 10 years from purchase date. Honda Dealership service quoted me $8,000 to repair Honda’s engine defect. I expected a Honda Civic to last longer than 117k miles but the car is essentially totaled. 10 year extended warranty expires around the time the engine block cracks. How convenient for Honda. Honda should have issued a recall for the known defect in their engines but instead, decided to screw over the vehicle owners. Really deciding on whether to get the 2L engine or the 1.5L turbo engine. Do you really feel the power difference? Is the fuel saving significant? And most importantly, is the 1.5 turbo less reliant? I'm mainly gonna use this car to commute. Thanks for answering!
If you are not going to need that huge power, NA is probably nice and good choice...Turbo in other hand is more powerful and more fun to drive but you have to pay a little bit more attention on the long term maintenance
I get why the sedan purists are upset that SUVs are replacing so many sedans, but when I see reviews like this, I just can't fail to get why it's happening. I already understood the higher ride and larger road presence, but just watching anyone stoop down into a sedan is enough to put me off the idea. And it's even worse when you compare the head room. The Civic may be decently roomy for a sedan, but I'm so used to all the headroom in my own vehicle, not being able to find a comfortable driving position without a hand length's worth of space between the roof and the top of my head feels cramped. Plus, why would I want to lose all that cargo space? And I live where it snows and rains. Even a front-wheel-drive SUV is better than an all-wheel-drive sedan in heavy snow and rain because of the extra ground clearance and weight. I would have to be left with no other choice to go back to a sedan. Even a nice one like the Civic.
A few years ago, I used to despise Honda and Toyota for getting out of control with their whacky designs on mediocre cars so I bought a Jetta instead. And now every car is copying Jetta's design.
"The ride is great for a cheap car" - says the helicopter owner. I also think it's safe to say we are unlikely to ever see a 6'4" rear seat passenger sitting behind a 6'4" driver in a Honda Civic.
Wish the ugly tablet type thing would fold away into the dash when not in use, it seems Honda have copied every other manufacturer with this, also do the front door panels move when the windows are wound up and down?

09’ civic coupe is the best version hands down of all civics.
I just took delivery of a 22 Civic touring model and can tell you this is the best Civic ever....by far.
Wow I like the look of it a lot. Interested in what the Type R will offer
Is it me or does the new civic look like the Scion tC with the face lift?
Really deciding on whether to get the 2L engine or the 1.5L turbo engine. Do you really feel the power difference? Is the fuel saving significant? And most importantly, is the 1.5 turbo less reliant? I'm mainly gonna use this car to commute.
Thanks for answering!
If you are not going to need that huge power, NA is probably nice and good choice...Turbo in other hand is more powerful and more fun to drive but you have to pay a little bit more attention on the long term maintenance
While the turbos can have carbon buildup issues, if you make sure to drive it at highway speeds on a routine basis, it shouldn’t be a problem.
Side note, love the ending song in this video
I would rather have touch screen. The buttons will eventually wear out.
Even a nice one like the Civic.
mini accord but Honda lacks in the warranty area at only 3 years
I agree Nissan has a lifetime warranty and Hyundai has a 10 year warranty!
A few years ago, I used to despise Honda and Toyota for getting out of control with their whacky designs on mediocre cars so I bought a Jetta instead. And now every car is copying Jetta's design.
I agree
"The ride is great for a cheap car" - says the helicopter owner. I also think it's safe to say we are unlikely to ever see a 6'4" rear seat passenger sitting behind a 6'4" driver in a Honda Civic.
The fact that he technically fits sitting behind himself says a lot about the backseat
"Big guy behind a big guy" ayooooo lmao
Damn, if I wanted a boring car this would probably be the one to get!
Is that a Chrysler Conquest Turbo shirt? I still want that car.
Wish the ugly tablet type thing would fold away into the dash when not in use, it seems Honda have copied every other manufacturer with this, also do the front door panels move when the windows are wound up and down?
New wheels and maybe exhaust and this car is golden 👍🏽
So the car shortage is going to end soon?
Huge improvement
It definitely looks good in silver.
One of my dreams is to own a Honda Civic, whenever I see one I pray to ask God to bless and empower me to succeed enough to get one someday. 🚀✍🏽 Amen🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
good luck
Starting to look like the Accord, should have stayed with the sporty look😁🇨🇦
The new interior looks great.
The exterior? I dunno... I like it but I don't love it. I think I still prefer the 2016-2021
What about the road noise?
Baby Accord, you may mistake it on the road. For me the styling is a bit muted for this generation.
The design team is members are all interns.
Tell him to work out or to work
Great work guys. I hope you get to test drive a bugatti.
Yes yes PLEASE put it out in the universe!
No lumbar support? In 2021 who at the design and function office signs off on no lumbar support?
MIKE DANGER NEEDS TO DO CAR REVIEWS TOO 😆
