    I will have to watch that a few times to take it all in,live the home made tools I wasn't aware that the gap had to be right when tightening up the clamps,its definitely definitely lolly stick weather.

      I don’t think it’s a critical measurement, but the idea is the rack clams need to have some preload in order to stop the rack body moving side to side when you turn the wheel. If I can clarify anything, feel free to ask!

      Well, drop me a comment if there’s anything I can clarify! Yeah the idea of the brackets being pushed against the D shaped flanges on the rack is to stop it being able to move side to side. Hopefully it’s not too much of a chore for you to generate sufficient lolly sticks :D

      @@redfoxclassics was you putting aluminum strips in the vice to protect the rack ?

      Yeah, that’s a trick I learned at school actually. Bit of aluminium sheet in the vice, give it a few taps with a hammer to form the sheet around the outside of the vice, and you’ve got a cheap and cheerful soft jaw.
