    Great video showing exactly what we need to know for floating gears. It showed the foot work and the engine sound with shifting.

    Only clutch to get the rig rollin after that no damn need! Eaton fullers are fantastic nice and simple. Many ways to drive though. First time I got into a truck I was floating gears… had some trouble down shifting and getting the truck moving of course. The clutch you gotta get that right. Feelin it grab, give just the right amount of throttle too much it’ll jump too less itl start bogging and hopping or stall right away. Not good. Shit can break! Most have sensitive throttle pedals that are easily tappable to give fuel. I had trouble with that sensitive throttle pedal on the first truck I drove you can tap it with your finger and it’ll rev the engine. I got used to the clutch and was then able to drive. Easily listened and shifted correctly. I had little trouble down shifting. Revving to correct RPMs (truck had a Caterpillar so it wasn’t that bad great engines and transmissions) give it a rev or 2 sometimes a quick tap can work. Transmission would downshift. I then had to get used to doing that with the Jake brake on. I was only using it to show down without down shifting. Just letting it blare in one gear pulling it then I’d turn it off and begin down shifting then turn it on again lol yeh know. Obviously way to go is learning with it on. Many different ways once used to clutch and downshifting it’s a breeze comes natural to you. That’s how I got going luckily on a Caterpillar powered Kenworth and a simple Eaton 8 speed. I then got into older trucks and learned even more about older style transmissions. REAL shifting there

    love the video mate, question, does it cause damage to the gear box or clutch floating gears ?? thanks in advance, all the way from australia 🇦🇺 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

    • @Grtruckingdemolitionllc
      @Grtruckingdemolitionllc  4 года назад +2

      Wesley Walker thank you man, and my father always told me if your going to drive trucks you have to learn to drive without using the clutch. So the only way it can cause damage is if your not shifting right, but matching rpms to next gear is fine

      old comment but best way I found is to take note of what speed each gear is at 1500 rpm once you can remember them you should be able to recover any gear to 1500 rpm depending on your speed

    Why do u do that little loopty loop in neutral while going from 3 to 4 and 8 to 9? I see alot of people do it there too idk if its suppose to help or what

    • @Grtruckingdemolitionllc
      @Grtruckingdemolitionllc  4 года назад

      newyearbaby100 not sure why I do it, but I know what your talking about I always do it. It kind of helps thou to get the next gear at the right spot, since you have to wait a second before shifting

      Ahh i see man thanks. On another note something you should mention thats like super important, is letting out on that clutch super slow especially while loaded. Ive seen many new people break the shaft in half. Or do a video lol

    When downshifting to get if out of gear you have to give it gas then rev it? Like how so yu get the stick out of gear so that yu can rev it?

    • @Grtruckingdemolitionllc
      @Grtruckingdemolitionllc  5 лет назад +2

      Chilled Coughee so to downshift you put the stick out at the same time you press on the accelerator, and leave the accelerator pressed, and shift to the lower gear you have to press the accelerator one time, and have to get it out of gear into neutral and to the lower gear

      @@Grtruckingdemolitionllc thank you for explaining that. I was gassing to get it out but I'd take my foot off then gas again to rev it up and it wouldn't work smoothly... thanks alot... now I understand, I rev up from the initial press on the gas that took me out of gear till I shift down back into gear.

    Are you pressing the gas to go into the next gear after going into neutral? Or just getting the RPM's up and moving to neutral then into gear without a second rev of the engine? Meaning are you kinda pumping the gas twice like you would do when double clutching? Gas to neutral then gas to gear? I hope my question makes sense.

    • @4TheLoveOfGadgets
      @4TheLoveOfGadgets 5 лет назад +2

      Right...yu talking bout downshifting? Cuz when I do it I have to give it gas jus to get it into neutral then rev it up to downshift....so twice? Hope they reply to yur question....

    • @Grtruckingdemolitionllc
      @Grtruckingdemolitionllc  5 лет назад +1

      No when upshifting you wait till it goes onto the next gear then apply the throttle, know for downshifting once you go to neutral you do give it some throttle and go into a lower gear at the same time. Does my explanation make sense ?

    • @Grtruckingdemolitionllc
      @Grtruckingdemolitionllc  5 лет назад +1

      Chilled Coughee your right for downshifting you have to give it a bit of gas for it to come out and then rev it again to go into the lower gear
