Hello Nikola, greetings from a Spanish follower of your channel. First of all, congratulations on your channel, I learn a lot by watching your classes. As a Spaniard, I was intrigued by your reflection on the fighting mentality of Spanish players and how they are no longer just clay court players. I have also wondered about this improvement in Spanish tennis across all surfaces. My answer lies in the history of Spain and the mentality and temperament of the Spanish people. As you may know, Spain has historically been a country involved in great feats and military conquests around the world, and this was largely due to the fighting and conquering spirit of the Spanish. Something very interesting happens with Spanish sports in general, not just in tennis. I mean that currently Spain as a country does not have the same importance it had centuries ago. It spent a large part of the 20th century oppressed by a dictatorship, losing all its influence, etc. Let's say that politically it is a country that lost the battle after centuries. BUT in sports (and perhaps in the business field) it is one of the few places where you can still see that essence, that strength, that mentality that allowed the Spanish to achieve those feats in the past. And specifically in sports, as you know, in the last 20 years there has been an explosion of great Spanish athletes, world-class, in practically every sport you can imagine... from tennis to football, basketball, motorsports, almost any sport you watch, you will find Spaniards fiercely fighting to be at the top, with a high level. This has been especially true in the last 20 years because before that, in the 60s, 70s, 80s... it was difficult, as Spain had spent 40 years where there was no time for sports, they had to work hard to lift the country out of poverty. In my own family, I have examples, my uncle was an absolute phenomenon on the bicycle, he had over 500 watts of power, but my grandfather told him there was no time for games, that he had to work, and like my uncle, many other Spaniards missed out on decades of the 20th century because they couldn't dedicate themselves to sports. So after Franco's dictatorship, the economic recovery began, and the children of the 90s can be said to be the first ones who could dedicate themselves to sports again, and that's how the fruits of having good athletes in almost every sport started to emerge from the late 90s until today, and it continues. And of course, more and more children can dedicate themselves to tennis, and there are increasingly more courts, not just clay courts. This is my reflection, and I was excited to share it with you in line with what you were discussing with my compatriot Sara. Greetings and a big hug!
Great video!!! So much positive energy from both Nikola and Sara💫. It would be an awesome idea to try these kind of drills on a rec player. Keep up the good work guys🙌🙌🙌
Spanish clay-court are indeed different from northern european/german one. In germany, you have multipal layers of earth, the last, the clay is bigger (min.5-10cm) In spain, I just returned from Palma, the clay layer is only like 1-2 cm and under it is stone/Beton (guess it is because of more intensify sunshine which would dry out the courts in spain quicker... Nice footwork (the small steps in between)
good drills to learn from them. Sara was in top shape very explosive and persistent til to the finish. The coach demands more, to make his player better.
Great video coach! Sara is amazing. Coach, I am not sure if you've done a video session on this topic or not, but as an older player from an era forgotten, when we used to move/run on court, our racket carriage was very loose and didn't have any particular form to it. I noticed Sara for example doing the x drills, having her wrist extended ready to pounce on the forehands when getting close to the ball, ala Holger Runé. So we basically just carried the racket as if we were running towards our boat that has come loose from its anchor with a can of pepsi in our hand, so to speak. Just holding on to the racket carelessly, running towards the faraway ball in this case. What is the proper dynamic form for a tennis athlete when running towards a lateral ball or a short ball/drop shot? How do we carry the racket when running and how does preparation come into play as we get close to the ball to be hit? I understand that there is millions of possibilities with this idea, but it would help greatly if one can have an idea about a general rule can be applied for this philosophy, if there is one? I'm not even sure if my question makes sense.LOL. Thank you as always for the quality videos and your commitment in making a difference. Cheers! M
Game is more uniform now Nick you are right in terms of playstyle and surface speed/bounce. Not only that people dont specialise anymore you have to be good at everything.
I’d love to be able to hit those finisher balls in mid court. I’ve no issue with baseline top spin shots but when I have a chance to finish the point I don’t hit the finisher clean/hard enough and bring the opponent back into the point.
Hi Nick, have important question, About forehand.. Do you think that if you try to hit your forehand but don't lead the way with your non dominant side first, you would end-up hitting late and not in front ? I Feel it happen frequently and I feel stuck can't rotate enough and have a big trouble with power and consistency ...
Looks like a good raquet. MP or TEAM. ? I have the nerve issue coming down the arm radioneuropathy. It hurt with a Wilson Blade 98. So may have to go down in weight. Thank you.
My friend in High School was one the top players in Volusia County and his name was Darren Farmer, we ran into Emilio Sanchez in the mid 80s and my friend Bret the Human beat Box, beat Box for short, asked Emilio for his autograph when he was walking around the tournament, and Emilio was so nasty to my friend Beat box, that my friend Darren told Emilio he game is trash and Agassi was going to destroy him, and then Darren told Emilio that he could ace him and take a set off him, they started arguing about it, my friend was 16 and so was I, but my friend Darren was 6.7 and 190lbs, and I told my friends to chill out, and that they wouldn’t stand a snowball chance in hell against Emilio and I apologize to Emilio for my friends. Emilio started being cool and said to Darren I like your heart and how he defended beat box! So Emilio got us tickets closer to the night match and he gave us Lipton autographed shirts, and said he was sorry for being a jerk, but he was just getting over food poisoning and he was feeling moody! So it’s a small world, and Emilio is one my all time favorite players, behind Agassi and Krickstein. Great video Coach
Respected sir federer hits forehand with a complete arm open but this girl is hitting with a half arm open can it makes a difference on forehand speed please tell thank you
Hey keep it up, coach. Tennis is a bit lonely, (empty courts, driving 30mins+ to find action, finding compatible partners, etc). I come watch stuff here, knowing that there are others who love the game out there. I have a theory that only the smartest people love tennis, and so the top 1% rule the world, which is why courts are empty haha.
So useful and effective drills! I assume you focused more on the intensity and the effect of repetitions and footwork patterns, rather than technique issues. For example her backhand take back is straight down, without a loop. And she doesn't clearly "pull back like a pro" at deep forehands, but she doesn't fall back either...

The drills look super fun and super brutal, I love it. Great hitting from Sara!
Coach Nick thnx for all the vids, they really are life like and have helped me a lot.
🙏💯
תודה!
🫶🫶 much appreciated thank you

Nik, much love from Italy, thanks for your incredible work ❤🎾

Great feeding coach! Thanks for sharing. I’ll add these to my lessons! Haven’t done much bounce feeding like you.
The bounce feed is what I need. I have trouble with incoming fast pace right at me. Messes up my timing, especially BH wing.
Great Drill 🔥
Tried the “V” drill with my orange ball kids this morning and it went really well. Thank you!
Fantastic!
good drills to learn from them. Sara was in top shape very explosive and persistent til to the finish. The coach demands more, to make his player better.
Great stuff Coach Nick! ❤️🎾

Niko - how would you compare American HarTru green clay to European (red) clay in terms of speed and bounce?
Are they very different?
Night and Day. Har tru (American green clay) plays more like hardcourt than red clay
On the ones where you move back what’s happening? Am I supposed to rip the ball or am I supposed to hit it high?
Ema you’re so awesome you.
Love the cool cool video, cas there so awesome all are

Absolutely great!
I would stand 3 minutes :)

Great drills. Noticed you didnt do an insane number of reps on each drill, some coaches do and quality just drops too much

Nick what's your whiteout frame, you're keeping it a secret for so long. Greetings from Spain 🇪🇸
respect for the game... respect... that is where the whole earth is slipping in many ways.... but in Spain....
Sara is in real good shape.
She can play ball for sure :)
Sara You are fantastic ❤
Damn, shes good!
കൊള്ളാം, മോർ ഡ്രിൽ ഇടണം 👍
Sara is freaking gorgeous! Cant even focus on the exercise because of her...
There's one Spanish tennis player who was not always positive: Nicolas Almagro.
Me gusta🎉❤
10 min 25 sec she hits all forehand and backhand outside the court all
The spaniards are used to playing in hot weather
Can we see her play against Emma?
Croatian mentality > Spanish mentality 😉
Does he only train hot women, or does he only include them in his videos?
Spanish tennis girls got pregnant from their coaches, is romantic isnt if?
