I muted the video, can still hear it.
😌
Damn, your joke is the best hahah
How can you do a review of a "silent" guitar and not play even one time without the amp to see how silent/quiet it is?
agree 100%
Well I mean, it would just sound like an unplugged electric guitar so it would be kinda unnecessary I'd think.
What if he was playing while talking but you couldn't hear it
Armin K ikr
Drake Ingham wait what’s the point then
Owned this guitar's predecessor, the SLG120n for 5+ years now. I travel a lot. It's never been turned down as hand luggage on over 300 flights, including on some spectacularly rickety little planes in the Philippines. Its survived bus trips in Central America and trains to tibet. It sounds amazing even now. I plug my old iPod nano into it and jam along in airport departure lounges. If you don't need this guitar, its just a decent and quirky guitar. If your lifestyle means you need it, it is literally the best musical purchase you could ever make without exception.
You've just sold it to me. The single one confirmation I have surfing the net for answer for. Thank you
Keith Budd adds are getting smarter
you fly every week? are you mental, mate?
What is its price in India
How often do you fly!?
thats not silent, I can still hear it
Ruok I know I'm gonna get wooooshed but its called silent not muted

It's always nice to see this kind of gear reviews/demos done by people who can actually play. This was a great video.
What was the song in 2:00 onwards plssss
@FromTheNorth.
Where are you watching guitar reviews by people that don't actually play the guitar?
And why? WTF?
@@timothyjames2955 it's just a g major, a minor, c major and g major chord, not really a song
@@radio7353 but he's right its just a chord progression. Its not a song. Those chords may have been used in a song but how can playing a chord progression ONCE constitute a song?
Came here for the review, stayed for the beautiful playing.
Honestly I could have listened to you play for hours, that sounded amazing
Love this guys' technique and melodic phrasing.
Sounds so good.
Yeah, he really sounds amazing. Reminded me of music from the game Chrono Cross.
I've watched so many guitar reviews in the past so it's refreshing to actually watch a good one! I have the SLG200N and will probably get the SLG200S having watched the two go head to head. Excellent comparison and great demo!
Broooo.. that sounded so clean and brilliant.. your grove‘ n was legit. Definitely buying both of these versions
The body shape kind of looks like a Les Paul and I love it. The sound is amazing as well, it’s a very clear sound and It would be awesome for practicing in public if you don’t wanna disturb or attract attention from people.
Excellent comparison of steel and nylon string models' sounds. Thanks for the straightforward demo. Very useful and beautiful playing.
I listened through headphones, and I must say that these guitars sound very good. I'm planning to buy an SLG200S as soon as possible. Update - I bought it (feb 2016): perfect neck and fretboard, great sound, and very very good possibility of studying along a musical base (it really seems you are playing inside the music). Completely satisfied.
andsalomoni great guitars for sure, I used to own one slg200N, then swapped with someone for a slg200S, love it
I got one but I m not sure i do need acoustic amp or not because it doesn’t sound like above . However if it’s with earphone it s fine. What can I do ??
What was the song in 2:00 onwards plssss
@@222t7 any kind of small amplifier should work. Even the aux input on a stereo would be fine for practice.
Nah, wouldn't hide my belly...
I'm afraid my belly would stick out through the guitar,,,, I'm serious, I love the sound but I want the whole guitar
sounds fantastic
I don't understand all the haters here. I've been playing Gibsons and Fenders for over 40 years, and I think this Yamaha sounds just fine, and seems incredibly practical as a traveling or practice guitar. I think I could even give it a try for recording. One question, though. How does it do with some serious overdrive?
OnStrike4Ever Check out my Carry On Wayward Son live cover. It might answer your question. 😜
They sound much better than i had expected. That was also some excellent playing at the 534 mark
Mick is a pretty good acoustic player. Can’t believe this thing has been out since 2015 and I’m just now seeing it in 2019.
James Lucas..
Yeah. He strums a great G chord. Lol.

Still an amateur...
John Perry it’s 2020 virtuosity is dead.
@@jameslucas248
Christ, that's cynical.
On the other hand, you might be right..
Well done jog on the demo. This guitar seems exceptional on feedback free playing. And good sounding. Yamaha seems to be a well positioned brand worldwide, kudos for that.
Yamaha: "We present to you the world's lightest and most silent guitar."
Air guitar: "Hold my beer."
I laughed pretty hard at that. Thank you
You guys wanna hear 7 minutes of me playing a G chord?
Yes, please.
Def yes.
Yes
Lol as soon as he starting playing I scrolled down looking for this comment
@@PabloCardonaMusic same for me
And THIS is how you do a well done review! THNX
Great review. I like how methodically each guitar was reviewed and the final song played with both versions was great.
But what does it sound like "acoustic"?
Came here to find out what a silent guitar is AND I'm still confused.
It basically makes no noise when played without connecting to an amp
@@TheRahulHegde so basically a light electric guitar?
Still seems like the best option for relatively affordable direct (relatively silent) recording solution of an acoustic... 2020
love your magazines!!
the steel string one arrived this morning. i like it. it's a lovely looking and sounding guitar.
John James McCartney what effects should I get if I want a more warmer tone..
Love this guys playing
Incredible sound.
Really want to pick up the nylon string version. Sounds beautiful.
gr8 method, perfect delivery! I might end up buying the nylon version. YAMAHA, pay this guy!
I would like to see what happens when you add distortion and other effects to play metal on this guitar
Thicccolas I’ve had great success using this in songs where I need to throw some distortion on passages (or a solo), but still want an acoustic sound. Check out my live Carry On Wayward Son cover with this guitar. Let me know what you think.
This guitar looks absolutely beautiful
Looks transparent much?
Hey guys. I'm blown away by this review in a whole.. I don't know what made a greater effect on me: silent guitar (I didn't even knew existed) and to me great sound that makes, the shape of it that changes perspective on a few things, the background music while the host is talking, the hosts voice, the scene of a whole room, color of the wood in the background, the song he plays at the end (I know its the same like the one in the background) expectancy of autumn.. Enjoyed it so much I'm watching it over and over all day..
After a few times I watched it, I got somewhat confused..
Keep in mind I'm not musician and I don't play any instrument so I apologize for not being more concise and not knowing correct names for "things". I did google some basics to make things easier but still..
Is squeaking noise ( the sound of sliding fingers along the wire) more pronounced in steel wires than nylon ones?
What I'm assuming is this: Yes, squeaking is less pronounced in nylon ones.
With that in mind listening and watching the part that starts at 5:30 confuses me..
Video shows Mickey (?) playing nylon than steel than nylon again.
But it seemed like he was playing on steel while shown playing nylon (maybe not every time)..
I believe Mickey used loop here (that thing that records your play and loops it while you play another layer?) or the sound was overlapped later and he probably played with treble and maybe effects and that all makes more uncertainties..
I'm trying to figure what I really like better. Nylon or steel. Is steel more suitable for certain part of song? Can't get a clue really because of aforementioned problems..
I know flat wound strings exist to and while I personally don't hear the difference (between round vs flat wound steel wires) I assume flat ones are less prone to that squeak, is that correct? I'm not sure because videos I watched were focused "on sound" rather than those "features" I'm interested in.
Care to comment? Anyone?
when he switches from nylon to steel he is changing which is in lead position
I'm sorry but I don't understand you. What's changing? He's changing to lead position?
Mzaphod Bibl Elixir polyweb strings😉
Looks pretty chill and sounds pretty chill too... I like it
Very nice review and demo, thanks! :)
I love them, and seriously thinking about getting one or both
Great demo and very nice playing
Many thanks for an excellent video demonstration. However, I am now torn between both guitars. I came wanting a steel string silent guitar, but love the concept of the nylon.
It was so relaxing to watch and to listen to this review. I found myself dozing off 😴 And I usually can never fully relax.
what a good demo, makes me feel like rushing out and buying one for once
:30
“As you’ll see, it’s very quick to assemble and disassemble”
*Puts it backwards the first time*
But he did it quickly
I can say - I got one - the Nylon one is a good product - however it does come a little rough - HIGH action (ridiculously high) also rough edges to the frets. Plan to bring it in to someone for finishing and setup.
Thank You !
THAT'S what ℹ need to know 👌
Those Solos were so Sweeeeet! 🤘
very clean and nice sounds!
It’s got a nice sound -wasn’t expecting that.
wonderful review, to the point. however, I would love to see some closeups of the control panel of the guitar. still, the best review of the guitar out there. thanks!
I was just listening to that incredible , smooth music
What's the song in the background? really digging it. Great video fam!
Noah Cook not sure about the song name but there’s a band called acoustic alchemy that has lots of songs like this, try listening to Columbia by Acoustic Alchemy
I like your review style. I want to see what every feature does and sounds like, then form my own opinion.
Have a SLG 130NW love mine especially you have kids around you can put on headphone. Wish the saddle can be slightly lower even I have managed to max the clearance... Still slightly higher than all my classical guitars.
Nice playing. I wish you described what you were doing to get the different sounds.
I originally bought the older SLG110 a decade ago. Loved it. Now have SLG200 steel string AND nylon. Main reason? Convenience. They can do everything, and the onboard tuner and effects are great. The design is so lightweight and comfortable, that everything else starts to feel really heavy and cumbersome. The 200 has been around for about 7-8 years now, so I’d be expecting an upgraded version soon? One upgrade that would make it a show stopper would be the addition of at least one electric guitar pickup, wired through the onboard preamp? If that signal could also be blended to the under saddle pickup already installed, it would truly be an almost unbeatable guitar for practice and even stage performance. YAMAHA, PLEASE ADD A MINI HUMBUCKER OR TWO!!!!😎
That was a proper demonstration. Well done. Waiting on FedEx for mine as I write this...
I Think they sound great, just hard to imagine if you would play it live? might have to get one and find out !!
You give excellent reviews.
Have the "original" SLG100S for years now and I really like it (I am a amateur). Excellent built quality!
One thing I noticed is that it stays in tune "forever", while all my other guitars have to be tuned after minimal temperature change in the room, or just standing for a few days.
On the other hand, it is bothering that it has no built-in tuner, which would be really no effort these days... Also, some more effects (like distortion etc.) and adjustable parameters would only be a tiny extra microchip + 3 potentiometers.
BTW: sounds excellent (my opinion) with ELIXIR strings.
Thanks for review this slg 200n
I decide to buy it after watching your video😀👍
Is this a Yamahahaha? Does it have much terrible?
Auneek Gomes hahaha
lol
Döner you're petty! Yeah I watched that wack video too lol
Döner was literally just on that video
LOL
Sounds amazing. I will buy SLG 200S next monday
i got the guitars and using Marshall AS100D atm, please what kinda amp or setup are you using ?
I like both of these, but I've been debating over this for months. I played acoustic guitar on and off for about 17 years or so. Never got very good because I was just messing around here and there, working a lot, etc. The other thing is disturbing family when playing it too often or playing the same things over and over again trying to master them. On a regular acoustic, it's just too noisy. I also dabbled with electric (Fender Strat) and some effects pedals with a small amp. However, I sold it all back around 2014. Looking to get another guitar in the near future and trying to figure out whether to get the steel string or nylon string. I'm a big Zac Brown fan and love the sound of the classical guitar, however, it is quite a low sound. Almost a bit too mellow, yet much easier to play, do string bends on, etc. I never did learn how to properly execute string bends and have it stay consistent. The steel string sounds brighter and louder in general, but I have to put soft contacts into my eyes every day and I've noticed that with those callouses that form on the fingertips, they can peel and there will be little pieces of skin here and there that get on the contacts. It's definitely a tradeoff between the steel string and nylon strings, for sure. I love blues, rock, etc. I don't want to make the wrong choice and pick one when I should have gotten the other.
For instance, I love the sound of the nylon at 5:42. That's a different sound than the steel and is unique and brighter. If playing the same thing under the same settings on the steel, would it be a lot more tinny sounding? Somehow part of me feels like if I got the nylon one, it's not really the same as playing a steel string guitar as far as finger strength and the general tone. Might be hard to play blues on nylon, for instance. I guess you technically can, but it doesn't have that same pop sound. Any suggestions?
I definitely like the ability to use an MP3 player with it and make various digital settings adjustments. Picking a color has also been irritating me. I like the black and the crimson red. The sunburst just looks weird to me.
At 5:42 is the steel string.
Yamaha does nice products, i have THR10 and the X version, both are great for practice. How much is the SLG200S ? If one of you guy owned one tell me, is it worth it, i never had an acoustic guitar.
I've watched a few of these demos on the silent guitar, I've yet to see anyone use it acousticly yet
MPYR ! I mean it sounds like an unamplified electric.
Another benefit is that if you decide to use pedals, the “original” audio will not be heard under it
that was a beautiful melody
fantastic review!
Is there much difference between the necks on the steel and nylon versions? Or rather, is the nylon string the typical chunky spanish guitar profile and string spacing?
So elegant...beautiful design.
Sounded fantastic!
Looks and sounds amazing
I came here looking for a guitar that i can play at night when i got insomnia without having to disturb people in my house. i plan to get a really silent guitar and then put a headphones to it and enjoy playing even it's at the middle of the night. i've got one acoustic guitar, i was planning to buy one electric but a really silent one which won't make too much noise when it's not plugged in. do you guys have any recommendation which one is the best? i never own an electric guitar before.
Get it. I play this in the corner at the airport while people are sleeping between flights and no-one has stabbed me yet. The Nylon version is quieter than the steel one when played with headphones.
Bought this one this week. Love it, I can play at night (sounds good even with my cheap phone headphones) and I can also practice my right hand's strength any time without worrying about neighbors hating me. If you want to play an acoustic get this one, don't get an electric to play acoustic tunes.
just buy an electric and a vox adapter, you can plug in headphones and get the bonus of an actual guitar, not this shitty thing
most electric guitars sound the same without an amp. just buy the one you want grab an amp and suitable headphones. or you could buy a preamp like vox sells and you dont need an amp at all
Wow ! I was impressed with the sound of my 1st generation SLG100S which doesn't have the "modelling" but these really raise the bar. They're prettier too and I presume they'll play as well. I feel an upgrade coming on ;-)
Does anyone know the name of the instrumental piece that plays while he talks for the 1st minute or so?
esa serie la fabrican en Japón? por que las versiónes anteriores las fabrican no se si en Japón o en korea , por ahí leí que la 200 slg la fabrican en china? pero no estoy del todo seguro
What was it plugged into? This video has the best playing and sound
Hi Sir, nice review. but I'm still a little bit tortured here.I am not a pro guitarist but I do enjoy playing guitar. I had alrdy had 2 accoustic guitar(string and nylon oen) and now I lived away from my hometown. On my new place I couldn't play guitar loudly, therefore my question is, doea silent guitar worth the money considering I'm not a pro? Which one is better slg 130nw or slg 200? Because those 2 are still on my budget
Thank you so much beforehand
Geez...im going to search for someone else reviewing this. Brutal dude
Do I need any special amp for this?? Because I plug into line 6 guitar amp 75 w and it doesn’t sound like above . With Earphone is fine !
What is the tab for the melody?
PLZ AWNSER?
I liked this video but it's hard to get an idea of how loud it is when played acoustically
As long as it sounds like that while I'm playing, I'll buy it.
How long does the batery last on these guitars?
Thanks
Depends on how much you use it
I want one, sounds amazing
The only thing I was wondering about this guitar was how loud it was when it wasn't connected to the amp.
Sorry I meant the guitar being displayed at 6:56. The one at the beginning looks like the Nylon String one. I want the SLG200S. What color is that one? Thanks.
Wow......amazing sound
Curious - what amp are you playing through? Thanks1
I want to give compliment for this silent guitar sound and for your guitar playing skills in few words , that is "an incredible, an awesome, jus wow , love it" :*
Who knows if Yamaha has a different model (traditional body guitar) with the same pick up than Silent Guitar?
Definitely going to look in my local music shop for a play.
very interesting instruments indeed!...what about the prices?
@Guitarist at 5:34 can we buy your tabs? Cause it was such a beautiful melody who touch my soul xD. I would like to have your tabs.
ikr i love that melody sooooo much. it give a bit of a romance feeling but more of a feeling of confidence
You can ear play or slow down the video to follow along with his fingers
CheapAssSynthesizer exactly
Im using silent guitar in my recordings. And music vlogs.
Hey great demo, what color is the SLG200S? Is that a sunburst or a tobacco sunburst - at 1:14? Thanks.
I don't gig anymore but still own over 25 guitars. I'm considering buying both the SLG200N and the SLG200S and would like to ask all Silent Guitar owners one very important question: has anyone had any issues with the intonation on these guitars? Thanks!
y u having amping plucked in! i wanting to seeing silencio sound!!! >:(
I wonder if this would be a good tool for recording purposes. I’m currently miking my Martin with a TLM49 but it’s not the best Martin. This gives more flexibility too. Anyone ever record on one of these? I would be running into an Apogee duet interface into Logic.
I want to listen how it sounds on distortion pedal
Until you play one of these, you can't imagine how good it is. With this and a modified Tele, I've got everything I need for a gig. However, I still take a Fishman-equipped Martin along just in case.
