- I wanted to put together something very different with the @YamahaGuitarsOfficial silent guitar, the SLG200S through the Yamaha THR30II Wireless. A fantastic combo for busking and recording without having to buy expensive mics, stands, and interfaces.
I am using the Line 6 G10ii Wireless system to connect to the amp.
Thanks a lot to my brother Angus Cooper for helping me film this!

I think the silent guitar and wireless amp are the sexiest combo in existence, thr wireless stereo is already magic but the combined aesthetic of a bodiless instrument producing forgotten tones through invisible wires is just *chefs kiss*. I just got a new wireless relay after using a cable the last 2 years they've been discontinued, got to be more delicate when switching leg positions, I really like the look of a guitar that conceals and protects the wireless relay, its like they were made to go together, incredible gear pairings, playing and production as usual.
Good Times and The Trees are 2 of my fav acoustic guitar tunes. Well done.
Beautiful to the ear. Beautiful video to watch. Thanks you for this.
Wow. Didn’t expect the Vai and Lifeson. Very nice, sounds amazing and excellent playing.
Gorgeous guitar and u made it sound so melodic and tranquil...great video !
Good job Cam! Love the passages. 🤘🏻😎
My god that was beautiful, your playing is amazing. . . Loved the Star Wars part
Absolutely beautiful Cam, chilled me right out, thankyou 🤘🏼😈🤘🏼
Man, thank you for showing me my new setup. That’s literally everything I want in a guitar and amp, light, wireless, steel string, sounds good, Japanese. Bravo brother from across the water.
Beautiful playing Cam!
Lovely sound and tone, tasty playing too. I like the alternative tuning
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏Awesome, Cameron. For a minute there I thought it was a black guitar till I saw the grass through it.
OK but like...this but unironically. Beautiful music dude, we all want more ❤
An homage to the versatility of the instrument we all share such a love for. Thought you were solely a flat picker, you anchor down like a pro. Thanks for more inspiration. When I say instrument I mean the guitar in general.
Cheers Joe!
Cheers!
That first track reminded me of medieval times!! Sounded familiar. Damn Good Times!!! Love that riff!! Keep killin' it Cam!!! The Trees is one of myu fav Rush tunes. Such a cool concept and great lyrics on that one.
First track was the Braveheart soundtrack 😎👍
That is so cool, sounds great mate!
Best video to date in my opinion, Cam. Thank you.
Thank you! :)
The Braveheart version is amazing.. Hopefully you can play the full song..

GOOD YOUNG GUITARIST......AND A YAMAHA ELECTRO ACOUSTIC SOUND VERY CLEAR,...SO A NEW GENERATION OF GUITAR...VERY GOOD WORK...KEEP ON CONTINUE 👏👏👏👏✌✌✌✌
Thanks a lot!
Great video Mate...

The Trees! 🔥🔥
beautiful video and playing buddy 👌🏻 hope all is well
Thanks a lot David! All is good here! Hope you're well too :)
Nicely done
Hey bro. Love your video! It was the final thing that convinced me to buy the guitar and then inspired me to get the amp too. However, the amp model in the video is the THR30IIA, not the THR30II. I bought the other by accident and now have to return. That being said...THANK YOU for making the video and you sound great!
Nicely done. Thanks for putting this up. I just picked up an SLG200S and was checking out what others were up to.
Glad I could help. Could not be happier with mine
@@CameronCooper I just bought an used one like two weeks ago (out of stock every shop in my area). I love it for practicing in 'silence'. But I'm starting to wonder how it would sound like when used as an electric guitar on an electric amp. Have you tried this before? Does it produce any decent sound? haha
Also ordered my first amp, the Yamaha thr5a for it. Expected delivery date turned out to be in an half year.... also out of stock everywhere!
@@Sammyc50 This whole video was performed through an amp, the THR30II
@@CameronCooper Yeah, I'm aware of that, it sounds amazing! Wish I could play like that... But I was wondering if it was possible to use the SLG200 to mimic the sounds of electric guitars with an electric amp, or the electric amps settings on your thr30ii. Making use of the piezo pickup.
@@Sammyc50 it's not really designed for that but you can have a go
You come on the scene like a samurai. I like it...
Haha wasn't expecting that
The Trees sounded great!!!
The trees are beautiful ;)
Awesome bro.
Beautiful
Muito bacana o vídeo. Simples, minimalista, e de bom gosto.
Estou nos primeiros passos do violão ainda, mas é exatamente essa a minha meta.
Sounds awesome Cameron! You’re the reason I have a Yamaha THR30 II now. Got it few weeks ago. Like I always say, and I’ll it again, thank you for your inspiration videos and everything you do... I know how to play Cathedral now! I have never rewound a video so much in my RUclips life! Thank you!!! 🎸😎🤘
Some rush and Steve Vai! Great video
Okay I am buying this.
Amazing 👍
Very cool🤘🤘👍
I used to own slg100. So close to getting a new silent guitar but hope yamaha will come with one with built in bluetooth
What would you like to use the Bluetooth function for on the silent guitar? For playing backing tracks would be as easy as plugging a BT receiver at the bottom. But as a transmitter to maybe wireless headphones would feel weird due the delay caused by the limited speed of Bluetooth signals.
Or maybe Bluetooth to connect a phone or tablet to get more built-in effects?
Damn good time's!
verry good
Absolutely LOVED hearing Good Times. Thanks for sharing this.
You're welcome! :)
Damn good times!
Damn good
sounds so good......almost like it was produced, rather than the live examples you demonstrate here
Thanks for the Video! Im 65 and decided to learn guitar... I was going straight for aa Les Paul Studio not a traditional choice I know. Then I cam across this Yamaha. i like it. To learn and to grow for my personal enjoyment. What do you think.? My 1st Guitar...
I have an SLG-200S. I replaced the stock tuners with Gotoh SG-381-05 Magnum Lock locking tuners (the buttons look exactly the same and the stock tuners) and I swapped out the Yamaha plastic saddle for a Tusq saddle. These two changes made all the difference. Try it out. You're welcome.
nice do you now where to get this parts how it looks and what sound like thanks mate
Utterly sweeet
FREEEEEEDOM!!!!!!
That was very relaxing, very nice. How well did that guitar stay in tune out in the cold weather? The Trees n Damn Good were my favorite.
Cheers! The guitar didn't mind the cold weather at all. Really cool!!
@@CameronCooper Kool.👍 🎸
Really love what you played!! Is it a song, so yes are there any tabs?
No tabs for the Braveheart stuff
Yeah !
Great stuff! Although I'm thoroughly convinced that you could plug into a potato and make it sound good. :)
Wes
Hammer
Yay
Braveheart❤️
Sounded great! what's the name of the last song?
Hi Cameron, always a pleasure see you playing. You're an Charvel expert, right? So, I have a Charvel So Cal 2011 Japan with recessed Floyd Rose. Dou you know any Japan So Cal with recessed Floyd Rose? Or is it a mod? Thanks!
Thanks a lot! I wouldn't call myself a Charvel expert but all Japanese made Charvels between 2009-2012ish were dive only apart from the Wild Card 5, 6 and 7. Did you buy the guitar secondhand? I fear someone may have either swapped the neck (I.e. put a Japanese neck on a mexican Charvel body) or done the routing modification themselves.
@@CameronCooper Thanks for your answer! Yes, it's a second hand guitar. The serial number is JC10002612. I made a research but I'm not so sure. I don't think someone swapped the neck. Everything looks perfect, with DM pickups, original FR... I'm just curious about the recessed FR. But the guitar is awesome, sounds really great.
1:30 Shout out to DLR. Damn good times!
👍👍👍
If I buy the slg200s, which THR amp should I buy in order to jam along with a regular steel string accoustic guitar friend and to be on the equivalent sound volume?
I’d love to get into the classical fingerstyle-type playing. I’ve managed to learn Ed’s 316, but are there any other songs you’d recommend for this style of playing?
The best thing to do is look around and listen to what excites you in that style and then pursue that. I worked out Song For George by Eric Johnson at the start of the year and that little short piece was an education in of itself. Intro to The Last In Line by Dio might serve you well :)
@@CameronCooper awesome, thanks man!
Looks and sounds amazing! How much are these going for (£)?
Google the guitar, prices vary
You need to do a lesson on the brave heart sounds amazing
Buddy..
Can one attach distortion pedals to this one?
And use it to place rock music the likes of
AC /DC
Led zep
GnR slash
Aerosmith
Etc
Fuck yeah.... The trees!
Hi Cameron, reviews I have watched all talk about the pickup, mic mod and effects, nobody seems to comment on the SLG as a guitar - action, feeling, holding tune etc... the normal stuff. Do you have an opinion in this regard? Thanks
I will be doing a video on this later in the year. I guess it feels like any old acoustic guitar with a pretty fat neck and reasonably high action. Certainly not a pig to play like some acoustics. :)
@@CameronCooper Thanks so much, appreciate it. Look forward to your video. Regards.
Braveheart!
I'm going to ask what everyone is thinking
What does t sound like with distortion?
What was that first piece you played? It’s beautiful!
A rearrangement of the Braveheart Theme
@@CameronCooper You made it sound like something from the Witcher soundtrack. Got me The Fields of Ard Skellig vibes.
Very nice sound, almost makes me want to get one to learn but that's a high investment for someone who's poor and something I might not be able to manage.
😜😊Braveheart was awesome 👍❗️ it was all pretty damned fine actually😎👍
Was that Braveheart??
How did you record this? A mic in front of amp or some other way?
This was recorded DI
How do you record this? Is it straight to your laptop or pure from audio cam?
Straight to a laptop
Is it necessarily to use d.i box for this type of guitar? Or it's all good without it and plug it straight to a mixer/audio interface or to a PA system if doing live gigs?
I would have thought it would work just fine through a DI Box since I recorded these short segments using the 'Flat' Setting on my Yamaha THR30ii which is pretty much a flat DI sound
@@CameronCooper i see. Mmm but my concern is about the high frequency of this guitar if i'll be using a long cable. They say that, the longer the cable you'll use, the high frequency of a guitar will degrade? So that's why,m we need to have a a d.i box?
@@PatrickJohnEramis I'm not sure if cable length has anything to do with it. The guitar has an EQ on it and the high end can be tweaked either on the guitar or at the mixer.
@@CameronCooper thank you for your inputs, sir. 🖐️
Could you pls do a full strum only vid with the just the simulator - no piezo ? Thanks :)
This is just the simulator.
@@CameronCooper thanks mate..but there's not much strumming going on. I'm keen on hearing it used as like that
I might do that in the demo coming up but I'm not usually a strummy player.
@@CameronCooper Thanks mate, any strumming is fine. Im just curious as most vids are picking.
Trust me strumming is just fine. In the passed couple of years when I have been testing kit and equipment for brands of all price ranges, it really seems to be the player that makes the gear shine. Not bigging myself up there, it's just something I have noticed because I have always had to adapt to something really different whenever I have tried something new. :)
Hi Cam,
So is this the acoustic version of the THR30ii?
Thanks
No the standard THR30II. The acoustic version hadn't been released when I shot this video
Can someone tell me what the second song he played was?
Good sir. What was the 2nd song played in this video??
Damn Good - David Lee Roth
Hi! Sorry what songs were you playing?
Have u tried the THR3011A. ? Reckon u getting the best acoustic sound u can?
I haven't and I don't really need one considering I spend the majority of my life on electric
How to record this song?
But how does this video has no noise environment sound? Just audio captured in Camera's mic?
This video is made like a music video, audio first, video shot later
What was the first song being played? Or was it improv?
Braveheart Theme?
Mine only works if I use a TRS to TS adapter. Are you doing this as well? If so, why didn’t you show it?
I just wanted to make a video I liked. Not a how to video.
@@CameronCooper This has actually been a very productive exchange for me. I had the original Line 6 wireless transmitter and it would only work if I plugged in a clunky TRS to TS adapter. I just got the updated version of the transmitter and it works perfectly with no adapter. I wouldn’t have figured it out without your video and reading this and other comments. Thanks!
…oh, and great video by the way. I enjoyed your playing very much!
what is the first song? i love it so much
Braveheart theme
@@CameronCooper oh my god. I can’t say how appreciate it is. I don’t expect I can get the answer. Thank you so so much bro. Do you still have the guitar note?
You're welcome! I don't have tabs since I learned this from watching and listening hard to Zander Zon's bass rearrangement for it. I hate tabs.
