For me, the most impressive thing about watching Lee train is his impeccable form, even when using maximum poundages. No cheating, never getting sloppy, always in the pocket. That's the best example he can set for the up and comers to follow.

If lee had been 6 feet tall he would have been mr O ten times in a row. Total bad ass. and a huge inspiration.
As much i want that to happen, i don't think that would be the case. He lacked lats. İf he only got more lats with being taller he would rule the Mr O for sure
If Lee was 6 feet tall, I don't think he would have been proportionally as big as he is in his actual height frame.

I tell you guys the last bloke that you would pick on in the gym is Lee Priest he never had to throw a punch because he cooled many guys down and broke up fights in the gym. 80's and 90"s. He was a calm incredibly intelligent with wit to match possessed the strength of 10men. I remember he did a pin ch grip one handed with 3 X 20kg plates.The bro's figured that if a guy like this could ever hit your skin you would be damaged if he got under your skin you would be dead. I only ever had the greatest respect for this incredible man.

Yeah. In high school, I was 4'8, around 100 pounds.
Joined the Army Reserve right after high school. Many years later, a friend of mine at a part time job, offered me to come and work out with him the first time. And then I got hooked. Many years later, ill run into my friend and thank him so much for taking me into the gym, and even people I went to high school with back in the day, look at me differently. Like, " this wasn't the same small, dude in high school we known". And the looks are from jealousy, that's it. I'm no bodybuilder, but I just love to work out. But there is a lesson to be learned.
Be careful who you pick on early in life. Later on, you never know how that person will turn out, and,....may treat you..
Keep lifting everyone. Eat food to grow. Bulk up, and diet down, and appreciate life.😃😃😃. Oh, now I'm 5'8, around 205 and 210. So a huge difference since high school. 😁😁

@@silversurfer647 I was 4'11-1/2 at the beginning of 9th grade(14 yrs old)(1984),and weighed around 90 lbs. I breakdanced back then. I was one of the shortest. It was 4 or 5 of us that were in that 5ft tall or less(Height Category),in the early part of 9th grade.
The next year(early part of 10th grade), I was 5'3,and 103 lbs. Didn't breakdance anymore, and often felt like a lost soul throughout that year. The next year I had a dirt-bike, and an after school job at the grocery store. Started lifting weights too, then got into martial arts. I still do both today, at 51, soon to be 52. I grew in height until the age of 20. 5'10. In 9th grade people told me that I'd only reach 5'3. Went to a doctor for a checkup soon thereafter and he assured me that I'd grow to at least 5'9, based on my excessive shoe-size. Size 9 shoes I wore when I was still under 5 ft tall. I was a Breakdancing Elf in 9th grade. 🤔
I have a lot of respect for this man. He's always been a great ambassador of the sport. He's right at the top with some of the very best.

Same, I was very short in primary and high school, had a weird name, didn’t develop very well, at one stage had glasses with a patch, had my first operation at 7, on my birthday on my nuts. I eventually got taller, after I left grade 10 I went to just over 6ft. The bullying was relentless. Just years of it, lost my dad to suicide in grade 10, parents separated in grade 9, grand dad killed by a drunk driver grade 7, 5 or 6 schools. Not having a whinge but it does define you, I was drawn to weights, muscles, working out, i have a rare pancreas deficiency so I haven’t absorbed much my whole life, its much worse now but on enzymes so I can absorb but it’s left me with chronic pancreatitis. Watching my idols, meeting Lee once, big moments for a fan, I put the work in the gym but due to my rare issues, didn’t grow, managed to get to 94.5kg using a bit of Epistane at one stage, that was a good product. But I loved lifting, forget the gains, just lift because you want to move a weight. I can’t right now, but at 52, I plan to get back to the gym, just to lift, good for the mind and mental health. I’ve seen every trend. Just lift, be happy.
The way Lee was looking in the 90s would smoke any 212 pro of today.

Lee Priest is the biggest bodybuilders for his height ever. I can't think of anyone else that has been able to pack on that much muscle on that short of a frame.

Lee Priest is a living legend. When I first got into bodybuilding 20 years ago, I followed his routines from the mags. It was way too much volume for me of course, but the bones of the routine, exercise selection etc, was very good.

The pose he does at 4:37 is the greatest pose I have ever seen, dare I say better than Arnold's back double bicep pose. Lee should name it the Staring into the Heavens double front bicep God pose, or simply the Priest Pose. Lee has all the mass with perfect symmetry to pull that pose off and look fu5king incredible while doing it, like a Greek God, Apollo himself, go Lee.
It's called the Victory pose, started by Sergio Oliva. But I think Lee did it better than Sergio.

It drives me crazy how Lee Priest isn't a Australian sporting hero just like Warne and other's. We cherish people who play rugby league & AFL to which they all get state funerals and much more. Yet in truth none of them are known in as many countries as Lee Priest. Body-building especially today is huge worldwide.

Today's youth right or wrong use performance enhancement drug's as much as any nation on Earth per capita. They do not hate them but promote them.
Yes people born before 1995 have the right opinion that steroids are extremely harmful but we are talking about Body-building. As a sport Body-building and steroids go hand in hand as it's impossible to become a Pro without them.
With that in mind then Lee should be looked upon as a true Australian sporting hero.
@@dcr1545 HeyDCR. I total agree with you. I'm a big fan of Lee to. But I just know Australian society frowns heavily on steroids. Not like in other countries that accept it as part and parcel of the sport.

I disagree. I admit he was an amazing bodybuilder. No doubt about that. Mr Olympia in my mind is suppose to embody/represent the pinnacle of male form and developement. Lee's height is not representative of the ideal male form. In order to be the best in the world. You have to have it all. Genetics and unrelenting work ethic. I think there should be a minimum height requirement to be Mr Olympia.

Height prejudice, simple as that. I've followed bodybuilding since '76 and seen it happen so many times that the clear best on stage was the shortest guy, and the judges completely overlooked them. Danny Padilla, Mohammed Makaway, even Franco for most of his career and hundreds more.

Good for Lee Priest's mom for speaking frankly. The #1 way boys are bullied in school is being labeled and demeaned as homosexual. Even more problematic is that some of us really are homosexual. The psychological affects of that bullying stays with you forever. I hope nowadays people are more accepting.
