Hi there , welcome to the channel and thank you so much for subbing ! I picked a bunch of black berries so have new videos with those coming up . Take care and ty for watching :)
I just found your chanel. I was looking for how to make blueberry jam. I did signed up, and I am looking forward to new canning, but also cooking. I will be watching for sure.
Thank you for sharing this I was searching for a recipe for canning frozen berries and wah lah there you are :) I have one question though I have certo pectin in the foil packets not sure how much to use?
The liquid certo ? Look on the pkg I think that may have different directions . I haven't used that in ages . If I recall it took 2 pkgs but I may be wrong .
If you are using pectin , you would probably want to use pomona's . If not using pectin you would need to bring it to 220 degrees . You could certainly try it , see if you like it . You can always try something and see if you like it . I like using pectin for a few reasons , some people like the boil it method which I find to sticky . Hope that helps
I do things the natural way. Daily Vitamin and sunshine, lots of sunshine! If you put a piece of regular parchment paper over your towel you won't ruin your pretty towels!
Hi there , if you use Pomona's Pectin you can use less sugar and it will set up . I order it directly from their website . Hope that helps , thank you for watching :)
You can use any pot to hot water bath as long as you have something on the bottom to prevent the jars from breaking and you have at least 1 inch of water over the top of the jars in the pot
@@FannyUrbanhomesteader do i need a tight lid? And is it a rolling boil i need to keep going? Ps like your channel very much..definitely trying the orange extract too as very difficult and EXPENSIVE over here in the uk.....new subscriber. Thank you x
New subscriber here. Glad I found your channel:) I wished I seen this before I did my frozen blueberry jam and jelly today. I did it a bit different, the jam looks like it will be ok but the jelly is watery. I don’t think I put in enough sugar. Any suggestions? Just leave it?
Thanks for subbing! Let it sit for a week or so . If it doesn't set up you can reprocess with more pectin if you want . Pomona's pectin is the best for jellies , never fails and you can control how much sugar you use if you choose .
Add chia seeds to your currently open jar. It will help thicken it nicely. I recently added 2 teaspoons to a jar and it is nice and thick. Seeds soften nicely and you won't even notice them.
Thicker than ... ? You have jelly , jam , and preserves . I consider my jams to be closer to preserves because I kinda like more chunks of fruit . It gets thicker as it cools, but is spreadable . Hope that makes sense and answered your question lol . Wasn't sure exactly
Fanny Urbanhomesteader thanks. I see ppl stop cooking the jam when it is still liquidy and fill the jar. I cooked today and it was quite good and filled the jar and put in fridge and I felt at the top of the jar it was some liquid. I thought it will cool and thicken right? In two hours I had to ship it via post to someone so I don’t know if it was correct or not hahaah
4 cups prepared fruit 5 tbsp pectin , 1 tbsp lemon juice bring to a boil you cannot stir down , boil for 1 min after 1 min add 5 cups sugar , bring to a boil again you cannot stir down . Add to hot jars and wb 10 min
When it comes to a boil you can't stir down , boil for 1 min while stirring , then into the jars . Sorry I left that out , hope it helps . Thank you for watching :)
@@leebiggers3358 That will depend on your stove . I'm using a flat top electric , a gas or coil would be different , can take up to 5 mins if I were to guess

Hi did you pùt a lid on while you were steaming in your canning pot? Is it possible to just use a large stockpot with a lid?
You can use any pot to hot water bath as long as you have something on the bottom to prevent the jars from breaking and you have at least 1 inch of water over the top of the jars in the pot
