I’m pretty sure it is still in your Amazon order list, and that rang up as a hefty bill.
I don’t know how to fix this or get connected.
Error registering device does not mean it can’t connect to wifi. It means you have to fix the registration.
I don’t know how to do that either.
If you bought the Amazon Echo from someone else, they have to de-register it so you can connect it to wifi.
Hard to do if I have it now.
An Echo device can be deregistered through the Amazon account or their alexa app, so you could get it resolved if you can at least get a hold of them via email or phone.
I didn’t buy it from anyone else.
If you can log in to Amazon from a PC or the app, then there is the possibility it isn’t your account but a garbled connection for the Echo. If you can’t access Amazon with your credentials, then you need Amazon tech support for that.
I’d rather not have to navigate that.
Let’s say the unit has a glitch and messed up your registration information. Put a pin in that little hole near the power cord to reset it.
I think that reboots it.
It resets it, and you get to go through set up again.
It asks to get set up on the network.
True, and you go to the Alexa app to connect to the wifi network and register it to your Amazon account.
What could prevent it from getting set up?
You have to have the Alexa app on your smart phone or tablet or install it on a wi-fi enabled computer.
I know that it doesn’t let you run the app on the first or second generation Kindles.
Let’s say it isn’t registered or the registration is messed up. Reset it, then sign into the Alexa app and connect the Amazon Echo to the wifi network and answer all the other questions.
It may not get very far.
I can’t help it if you need to reboot the router so everything can connect, whether the Echo or your computer.
What if I can’t sign in to Amazon?
Then you’re using the wrong email address for your Amazon account, the wrong password, or your connection is so bad it can’t recognize those credentials.
If that’s the case, I’d go over to the computer and do the click to call or click to chat to reach tech support.
That’s assuming you have an internet connection, though if the computer can’t connect either, that explains why the device can’t register. Whether you want to reboot the router and then reset everything else or log into Amazon from another device order new everything, I don’t know.
Are there times the app doesn’t work?
The Alexa app can be downloaded almost anywhere, but if it won’t play nicely with a jail broken phone, that’s not Amazon’s fault.
It isn’t a jail broken phone.
You have to have the Android 4 or iOS 7 or higher.
For a moment, I thought you said I had to have iPhone 7 or higher.
Amazon isn’t going to make you spend that much money to buy their device, though they’ll be happy to sell it to you.

I bought mine from EBay and I have to call the seller and hopefully get DSL number..hope its not stolen.
This happen to me..but Amazon Tech support stated it was either reported Lost or stolen...

i get this all the time when buying stuff on ebay or warehouse deals on amazon. just find out how to factory reset the device and do that. it always works after that.

@@bigwilly3377 make sure you are doing the proper factory reset. This often involves pushing a pin into a little hole for several seconds.
