- My Amazon Echo won't play music!
Turn up the volume.
The volume is fine.
It will seem like it isn’t playing music when it is really turned down low or muted.
If I ask it a query, it can respond, so the problem isn’t the speakers.
If it is in the middle of playing and pauses for a second before resuming, then repeats every few seconds, the most likely issue is a device with Bluetooth turned on near it.
I can’t think of one.
Then there’s the possibility that it has a wifi connectivity issue.
There is more than enough bandwidth in the house for the Echo.
If the Echo has a connection problem, you could try unplugging it, waiting twenty seconds, then plugging it back in.
You’re telling me to hard reboot the Echo.
If the router has had setting changes and needs to be rebooted, you may need to reboot it to fix the connection problem, and that’s the likely solution if devices other than the Echo have problems.
My router hasn’t updated its firmware.
If the power LED above the Echo’s power connect is white, the unit thinks the connection is fine. If it is blinking orange, it can connect to wifi but not the cloud.
If it can connect to wifi but not the cloud, the issue might be Amazon.
Then you can go retro and log in via a computer and see if Amazon is down, or if there’s a problem with my account.
Even if a credit card bounced from someone trying to accidentally order a brand new TV, Amazon Prime music should still play because it is free.
If the power LED has a steady orange light, that means it can’t connect to wifi. Unless you put it in a metal closet, put another wifi source too close to it or have an ISP problem, rebooting it is the best solution.
Because we’re down to reboot everything and hope it works.
Rebooting the hardware can also help if the cloud services killed your running programs, the music apps, if it detected a loss of connection.
Then things should play after the connection is restored.
Just as a note, if your Amazon prime subscription ran out, you’ll lose access to the music library though the titles would still be visible when you look at it.
That would make restoring music simple as easy as paying for Amazon prime again.
You can also regain access to the music by going to the digital music store and paying for each song separately.
Amazon Prime would be cheaper.
If you’re playing Prime music through the Amazon music app, it will lose the ability to do offline playback if you don’t connect the app to a wireless network for a month.
That’s to make sure you’re connecting the device to Amazon’s network, so they can see what you’re doing and apply the necessary digital rights management, because if someone complains about rights, they have to take songs out of their library.
Then there’s the fact that if you download music for offline payback, it is deleted from the device as soon as you sign out of the app.
The Amazon music app is more a work around for playing the music the Echo isn’t.
Then we’re down to calling tech support or buying a new Echo, whichever you have the patience for.

Ok this just wasted my time... it’s not a problem with the WiFi or speaker it keeps on replying that it doesn’t know a song or even 70s 80s or any kind of music... it won’t play country or pop or anything

For real I have my thing connected to Spotify and it only play radio not the actuall song
For example I tell it to play despacito and it play

Contact the company through the Alexa app because for me they troubleshooted the issue and determined there was a pairing issue and after a minute or so I requested a song and it played. Greatful.

May 20 hour playlist got deleted down to 20 songs? Why?
Switched it off for a minute or two, switched back on and it’s playing music again 🤣

I don't know why but this dude character really bothered me. lol The chick character told him everything he needed to know in the first 30 seconds that should have eliminated 10 of his troubleshooting steps. Ok rant over. Video did not help but thanks for trying!
