I like it how atmospheric imperial ships are fundamental flying bricks, while there mainly space used fighters are aerodynamic.
Imperial fighters look cursed.
Thunderbolts also have vector thrust allowing them VTOL and also makes them highly manoeuvrable in the air as they are able to "viff" to get above, below, or to the side of an enemy aircraft. Alongside their heavy armour it should place them above a Lightning for sure, and probably towards the lower middle of the top 10. They are certainly a match for the Hellblade.
That first place choice was totally what I expected. Kinda hard to beat a fighter when the fighter can also pull psyker bullshit and fuck you up.
Also I think the nightshade interceptor deserved to be on this list, and pretty high up as well. They are the main fighters for the crimson hunter aspect warriors, who are arguably the best fighter pilots in the entire galaxy.
The side-view used for the Fury class is the Fury-class Imperial interceptor from Star Wars: The Old Republic. 🤪
Glad you noticed. I wanted to see who are the true fans who will notice it.
My sith fury interceptor from swtor made the list!!!
I'm not sure if any Astarties tech can compete with Eldar or Dark eldar for that matter.
BUT they got the numbers on their side
Quantity over quality
How about Custodies, they have something of their own? 🤔
Not sure they could field many of the Fury's (# 6) since the Jedi pretty much destroyed them all just after the formation of the new republic...
Hahahahahahah
LOL! Number 6. Love it. The picture is of the Fury Class starship from Star Wars lore.
ahh so many flying bricks
You dont need to have aerodynamic plane in vacuum, you know. Same with heavy fighters, they dont except to dogfight, they fly in, dump missiles and retreat.
Haha yeah. I think some/many of these were thought up and designed in the 80's. Love that they lean in to it and don't change aesthetics with new times!
Aerodynamics is for people who can't build engines. Also anti-grav tech is common in the designs...
That's the charms of 40k.
Be cool if they did a warhammer mod for sins of a solar empire
When the Thunderbolt has worse stats than any real life 4th gen fighter...
It's a big shame alot of weapons systems and defense components which modern Aircraft have are not in the Imperium of Man's aircraft forces. They usually have Ww2 to maybe Vietnam style aircraft tactics while there's not many same systems which are six generation like to the Imperium of Man's air forces.
The Imperium of Man need alot more technical and tactical advances for planet bound aircraft forces and offensive and defense systems because it ain't fair they don't have them and are stuck with lower capabilities for the ground.
They may have a few point defense systems but not enough good ones if you ask me. I see alot of ww2 style flak guns most of the time and not enough auto targeting and ballistic hyper sonic speed projectiles for their boys on the ground. Give them some more advantages.
So I combined some of my DNA with a Cordyceps fungus, by using gamma radiation to break apart the DNA, and adaptogen chemicals (mostly Ergine Diethylamide, and Scopalomine Diethylamide) to Fuze the DNA back together. It's a disembodied organ in a brute sense.
But it was created as a fractal computer, which can be accessed using adaptogen chemicals, like Caffeine Diethylamide...
Anyways, apart from telepathic linking, it can be used like a regular computer, too, by connecting wires attached to regular technology (like a TV), to its holding tank.
And I would really like to use that to create a Warhammer 40k game.
The limitation would be the ammount of data produced, but as long as it could run a simulation, and download it on to a disc, or digitally, it should be able to function on like a PS5 or something. It would just be like a memory, with a physics engine that could provide user input.
blud leaked top secret government project 💀💀💀
This was posted half an hour ago!?
No one in the GW design team knows how to wing. I could build more aerodynamic air foils from lego bricks...
Ork ones are actually the most aerodinamic ones...
Most of these are designed for space combat.
@@powerflumi Then they don't need wings at all. Waste of mass.
@@Boseeinsteinshake Its where the lazcannon and rockets are slapped on.
Also they have some athmospheric flying capabilities.
Some fan who is an Engineer did a bunch of videos testing the aerodynamics of the 40k flyers some 5-10 years ago or something like that.
Turns out most of them are at worst decent to actually pretty good.
With the worst contended being the Astartes flying bricks - e.g the Thunderhawk had a negative drag, meaning they had a worse time at getting drag than an actual brick
Suprsingly the Chaos and Ork ones are the best.
The Ork mostly because they are WW2 era flyers with a bit of orky stuff.
The Chaos stuff like the Helldrake was the best as it is an defacto living organism.
@@powerflumi My bigest problem really are the wings, They have NO profile in most cases, being simple roughly wing shaped slabs. They would generate zero lift. If a fighter is meant to fly in an atmospheres and has some sc-fi device that makes it fly, at least don't give it pseudo-wings that make everyting worse.
I think you missed a number that belong near the top of your list and would knock those bottom choices clear off the list such as the Tau Manta and Tiger Shark and Necron Night Shroud.
Not familiar with the Night Shroud, but the Tau ships you mentioned are not specialised air fighters, which are what being compared here.
The Manta is an Assault Dropship while the Tiger Shark is a Ground Attacker / Titan Hunter. While they can defend themselves in a fight, it is not their main purpose.
“Cries in no Avenger mention”
Dakkajet (orks) '... angled thrust nozzles to change direction quickly, which makes it seem out of control.' - Seem?
2:17 Thunderbolt looks like something between a Bf109 and a Me 262, but with steroids. Heh 😅😅
Would be cool to have a game with only flyers. 😊
What about battlefleet Gothic
You have Aeronautica Imperialis
Service ceiling of 39km is nonsense. Modern jet planes fly at 15 or so and above 20 you need rockets, and at some point wings do not help anymore, so after that if you have good enough engines ypu can just go to space so sthere should be no service ceiling. 🤷♀️
The dakka jet doesnt really use a jet engine to fly. It works and it flies but if you opened up the engine there would be a couple of nuts and bolts and some teeth rattling around amongst some scrap metal and thats about it. Not really a jet engine.
I love people calling out GW for their designs, men is a world were people still use swords and demons destroy the fabric of reality why even care they look cool that's enough 😅😂
U forgot the legendary and never seen purple ork bommajetfightarghhhh
Wot figtah
Corvus blackstar?
Interesting thing is that most of the modern day fighters are more advanced than 40k fighters due to advanced missiles. Maybe everyone in 40k has so advanced counter measures that dogfighting is nessessary. 🤔
Nightwing looks similar to Batwing.
dark eldar should be slightly above eldar... their "lack of discipline" would actually be an advantage in dogfights. plus they're high on drugs that increase their reflexes and stuff. also they're murderous and aggressive pirates. also i'd like to see the tau razorshark in the top 9ish spot
