- Steve joins us this week on Gen X Are We Adults Yet? to share his horrific story of drugs and street life at an early age, found himself in and out juvenile hall, graduated to CYA - California Youth Authority and he didn't stop until he reached California State Prison for 4 years and 8 months. Now in 2024 he has earned a certificate of rehabilitation and is awaiting a decision from the Governor's office regarding his application for a full pardon!

I remember the crank days back in the late 80s through the 90s. My dad used to cook. I'm 44, and it took me this long to get my stuff together. 6 years clean and sober. Yea, old bathtub crank. I lost my older brother because of it. Anyway, thanks you guy's . Blessings I wouldn't have changed a thing. Doing great

remembering last time i exited an institution was totally unable to sleep in a regular home as it was to quiet!!! the noises and all the screaming thoughts rocked me to sleep ,sad times.

Hey at least she was there teaching you the ins and outs of the cops and so on. My mom just dropped me off in the middle of the hood at the age of 12 and took off I had to figure things out myself

@@genxareweadultsyet I didn't mean anything by that like you haven't been through it. Growing up in those areas are hell....I was more being sarcastic. Hard to include that I text. I'm doing great...now...after overcoming my mother....only took 40 years 😂😂l

I went to rehab in orange county all the way from Oklahoma been clean almost 2 years I really want to make my way back to California one of these days
Steve was my hope shot at the end on my road. I had some dealings with him out there doing what we do on occasion and then on my last days I saw him and his brother at the library doing something different with themselves. That gave me hope at the time, that maybe I could do something different.

I was just saying the other day i was talking about going back in time. I would tell 16 year old me to stay away from the hard drugs and that i have way more potential than 16 old me think i do. But hey, I love my life a lot now too.
Sounds like you and I would have similar messages for our younger selves. Looking back I’m not sure I would have taken my advice 🤷🏽♂️
