    This video solved my persistent and elusive fence problem. His gallagher fault-finder unit is exactly what I bought, but failed to learn how to utilize it to it's full potential. This video taught me, despite my previous laziness to do so in my own. All of a sudden, the Gallagher became a lovely bargain, whereas before it seemed just an expensive volt-meter.
    I can't thank you enough.

    Thank you for the video. I also watched another video where you show how to replace the battery and I replaced mine successfully. I do have a question: what is the purpose of the little metal piece that comes out when you push the metal just below the letter A? Thank you!

    • @FencerFixerRepairLLCKansasCity
      @FencerFixerRepairLLCKansasCity  Год назад +1

      You're welcome for the video, glad it helped you out. On the metal piece that pops out the top, that's used for getting into wires hiding in insulators, like bull nose insulators on corner post and such. It just allows you to get in where the metal plate with A and arrows can't reach is all.

    I've always wondered if these are reading actual amps or are the amps scaled? Do these chargers actually put out amps or milliamps or microamps even?

    • @FencerFixerRepairLLCKansasCity
      @FencerFixerRepairLLCKansasCity  7 месяцев назад

      They're typically very low amps but very high voltage. They're a pulsing type unit at about every 1.2-1.5 seconds, so they're not a constant steady output. So it gives the person or animal time to get the shock but then bounce off the fence and back away.

    Love the video. I’m new to all this country stuff. My neighbor wanted to keep his cattle in that kept coming over to our property so I put up this electric fence. I have the exact same tester it’s reading 6.9kv and 0.2A on most of the fence but when someone touches it; like him. He don’t seem to get a shock. What could be going wrong? Thank you

      Oh I would like to add the unit is a 10 mile solar system and I’m running 3 positive lines on two sides of a 3 acre property they are separate lines all attached galvanized

      If you or him touch the fence and either barely feel anything or nothing at all, with the kind of voltage reading, then it's likely the shoes on your feet are insulating you against the ground so your not completing the circuit. Squat down to a knee to bypass your shoes and then touch the fence, brace for it, and see if it hits harder. If it does, the fence and everything is fine, and it's just that you yourself or him weren't grounded enough because of whatever shoes you were wearing.

      Is that one single strand or a bunch of multi strands? If it's multi strands that are tied from top to bottom then the system is wired in parallel which lowers the overall total resistance of the whole system. So if you let me know if it's a single strand or multi strand set that will help. Also how many acres/hectares are you fencing in as well Will also help?

    what if you are reading 7 kv but 0 amps?

    • @FencerFixerRepairLLCKansasCity
      @FencerFixerRepairLLCKansasCity  4 года назад +5

      That's a good sign then. That means there's nothing dragging your fence down. The lower kv falls the higher the amps will climb. So if you put a short on your fence down a little ways on your fence on purpose and recheck the beginning, the kv might read 2kv or 5.5kv with some sort of amp number. The amps will vary depending on the type of short, how bad the short is, how many wires you have, and how strong (joules) your unit is.

      @@FencerFixerRepairLLCKansasCity I've got everything hooked up but I have one last question. My fence goes all the way around the pasture and comes back to my gate where it dead ends. Can I leave it dead end there or do I have to go under the ground and make one big connected hot wire?

    • @FencerFixerRepairLLCKansasCity
      @FencerFixerRepairLLCKansasCity  2 года назад

      It can be a dead in end and doesn't have to make a complete loop. The way the circuit completes itself is when the animal, or anything else that touches the fence, gets hit by the fence. It goes from the fence, through the body, into the ground, back to the ground system, and back to the unit.
