Every time I listen to this song, I can remember how I’ve witnessed my sister knelt down crying and begging for her then husband to stay when he was about to leave her for another woman. My nephews were just months old and 2 year old at that time and I was just 12. Since then, he never made any effort to show up and see his own children. Now that I am all grown up, I still can’t comprehend how a person can be so selfish and cruel, especially to their own children.

I have always loved the Dixie chicks and always when I'm sad I play them over and over now that the kids are older they tell there friends oh my moms listening to the Dixie chicks she's sad. Well brings tons of memories of me and there dad splitting up but I love the music. OK I am sad but just brings me back to when the kids were small

He's two and she's four and you know they adore you ...... Damn....I really hate that situation or any situation where children lose out. Yeah, I hate that part, a child's sorrow in missing and longing for their parent or wanting their family back . Adding insult to injury is guilt a parent feels , either by causing heartache or not being able to prevent it. Scarred for life by life. I wish no one's childhood be painful , childhood is so special and far more critical than adulthood.

I like this song, but at 2:48 it just breaks my heart. As a dad of two young boys, thinking about how upset they get some days when we drop them off for school, knowing we'll see them again in just a few hours...
