- .45 ACP is most popular pistol ammo in USA 🇺🇸.
The .45 ACP (Automatic Colt Pistol) or .45 Auto is walled handgun cartridge designed by John Moses Browning in 1904, for use in his prototype Colt semi-automatic pistol.
Colt M1911 A1 pistol. is most famous pistol with this ammo and Thompson M1 is the most famous submachine gun with this ammo. The .45 ACP it can be used in revolver.
This ammo is used by police around the world.
The .45 ACP is effective for self-defense due to its high stopping power.
In this experiment you will see .45 ACP ammo exploding outside the gun barrel. .What Happens? What powerful?
Targets : ballistic hand, apple, watermelon, coca cola can and wooden plank.
I used a Gopro Hero 10 camera for slow motion. 240 fps.

I like how this guy is straight to action
It's exactly how all these instructional videos should go but everyone wants to be a star and make the presentation more about them than the product.
I’ve been hit by live ammunition in house fires before. You barely feel it through the bunker gear. One thing I’m always mindful of is firearms in car fires as the firearm is mostly likely chambered and I’ll most likely unknowingly walk in front of the muzzle at some point while fighting the fire. Having a round cook off in a barrel is the same as pulling the trigger. The outcome is gonna suck.
Dude, you make a very good point, I never thought about a car fire with the firearm still in the car, scary stuff. One minute you pull over to use your fire extinguisher to help someone fight their car fire, next thing you know, bullet in the head lol!😒😳
I'm more afraid of O2 bottles in a car fire. When they go off they cut through the side of the body. An aluminum "E" tank will end up flat 5/16 " thick 12"×36" and will travel about 100 yards after going through the side of the car. I had one cut my bunker pants on the outside of the knee.
And it'll continue to cook off firing itself until the mag is empty or jams. I always clear mine before putting it in a lockbox that's cabled to the seat frame if I gotta leave my gun in my car.
You don't need to keep your guns chambered in the house just loaded with a mag empty chamber and ready to rack
@@raymondreddington4952 my home defense and carry guns are always chambered.
A gun barrel makes a big difference in performance.
Not only the barrel, it also depends on the firing pin
Yea no shit
A liberal insisted in response to my ," then why does a naval ship have a 20 ft long barrel if your 3 inch does the same transfer of energy?"
Reply :" it's a penis size thing."
Liberals don't need facts to prove a point, just feelings. Doctors have medicine for people living in a fictional reality.
"Liberalism is a Mental Disorder " by Dr Savage.
Best book ever.
Gun barrel Gas pressure makes bullet speed
A chamber would up the pressure dramatically behind the round. The shell exploding is the visible energy not being transmitted into linear force. The barrel and rifling are for accuracy and do help with speed but not near as much as just having the case not swell or explode.
That actuality had more force behind it than I thought
Same. Add another 2 or 3 feet though and it's probably got way less.
@@W1ckedRcL oh for sure. I'd put money on that.
It probably has more to do with the way it's supporting the bottom of the brass case where if you would have thrown it into a fire it probably wouldn't have as much punch to it
It has more force than it normally would because one end is fixed tight to the block, otherwise half the forward force would also be directed backwards.
That’s funny- I thought the exact opposite. I had no idea such a powerful round would be so weak outside a barrel. It had less penetration than a .22 fired normally.
If the case was free to move there would be much less damage from the bullet.
yep, but the casing would be flying instead of the bullet.
@@pnwrider4818 if I remember correctly, Mythbusters did an experiment using a .22 as an automotive fuse (they also dumped a bunch of different calibers into a fire), and the results showed that the CASE was the more dangerous part.
You get it,most don’t
@@calebr4191 a large round chunk of metal is much less dangerous that a thin sharp piece of shrapnel.
Only thing that makes bullets deadly is the speed.
Yes
I'm actually impressed by how much energy the bullet still flies away with.
Because the bullet and cartridge can't move freely; it's fixed in place.
That watermelon chop was on point.
He has a pretty sharp understanding of what's he's doing .
Very
That could actually still be very bad if it hit your neck or eye, but lethality definitely dropped about 95%
I'm really surprised it penetrated the ballistic gel at all! That was really cool
you should put the ballistics gel in the path of the shell shrapnel
My neighbor was in Vietnam during Vietnam war.
He say this is a common bobby trap. Usually made by AK or nagant ammo.
It may not take your life at once but the wound always torture you to die.
Many of us who are CRO's (Chief Range Officers) have had multiple guns blow up while running shooters on the clock or have been hit by ricochets and have frags or whole bullets in us. I was hit in the back by a 168 grain 308 bullet that had lost most of it's velocity and just dragged my shirt into the hole and bounced back out off my rib. My friend Jeff has a whole 55 grain 223 bullet that could not be removed easily and has been between the bones of his forearm for years. He carries a photo of the x-ray on his cell phone to show people LOL. Bradley had a 9mm bullet in his leg that had gone through a 55 gallon plastic barrel that worked it's way to the surface and could be removed safely. Most wounds especially from low velocity won't kill you. Good video.
Bullets need that confined space such as a gun barrel to generally be lethal, Mythbusters did test like this years ago and none caused fatal injuries.
When ammo cooks off from heat as in a round thrown into a camp fire its my experience its the case that is propelled and bullet moves very little
1:08 lol that bee came into view and was probably like “OH SHIT!” 😂🤣
easy, quick, and compact💪✨🌹well done!! and congrats you just got a new subscriber😁✨👍
I appreciate yhis being 2 minutes and 30 seconds long, only proper for 45 acp.
very interesting, thanks for making that video!
Did anyone else get memories of Edward Fox target practice in "Day of the Jackel" when he broke out the watermelon? I was half expecting it to explode. Great accuracy on the cut for the bullet!
Interesting. In fact the power was more than I expected. Even though what was displayed was far less than even a short barreled pistol. Now my curiosity is aroused: I would like a view of the cartridge going off and self-destructing in slow motion. I've also curious about the accuracy potential (which I expect to be 'not much'.)
Good ballistic analysis
It's crazy if it had so much as a half inch barrel it will blow a barn door through most body parts I personally love .45 as a personal defense round
OK, that was interesting. Thanks !
Very interesting. If you still have your ballistics gel hand and another round, how about putting it near the side of the round when you shoot it? I notice a good amount of stippling on the dry wall. I'm curious how much injury would occur to the sides. Interesting impacts on the various targets.
You should try .38 special wadcutters. They sit deep in their cases so it may act as a bit of a barrel to get higher speed.
The case has to be in a chamber of some sort to build pressure.
No power behind it, that's where most of the firepower comes from. Thank You Sir.
Would have been hilarious if that fly got knocked out from that watermelon spray 👀
Nice video. I wish my grass was that lush
No blablabla... only pictures.👍👍 c'est super ce style de vidéo. Seulement des images. Merci
1:10 the fly goes "yeet, armeggedon outta here!"
All bullets just need some guidance, and rifling sure helps. Great Demonstration.
Thank you good work 💯⭐
It's because the powder is not getting burnt the way it does in a barrel through compression simple yet a good example of gun mechanics .
The fly that was cruising by watermelon was shot was hilarious.
Well made video!
That looks like it would really smart.
Interesting video. Thanks for sharing.
Wow, not what I would have guessed. Very eye opening. Subbing now!
Best use of a can of Woka Cola that I have seen in a long time.
La importancia del cañón,que obliga al proyectil a salir girando como un trompo y eso rompe todo.
Although it would suck alot less, it would still suck to get hit with it. Still a .45 . Awesome demo!
i mean, stand 5 feet away from it and ur not gonna feel it probally
@@dudus9287 for sure. Probably just startle ya more than anything
Wouldnt even do that if the case was not strapped into the relese. The case would fle farther than the bullet.
Painful but not deadly without the gun...good show.
Interesting, I never gave this much thought.
Outside of the blasts from the bullet it’s almost ASMR
The craziest thing to me is this is still lethal outside a barrel
It’s not. The case is fixed. Not possible in the real world and inaccurate test.
I’ve always wondered about this
Barrel directs gas pressure only in one direction. Thus giving the highest push to the bullet.
Place the 45 in a vice and hit primer with a awl and hammer you’ll see a big difference for sure.
Mmm this just gave me an idea for a mail thief. Thanks!
if im correct the reason why the 45 isn't doing a lot of damage is that there is a lot of waisted velocity because it isn't contained within a chamber and barrel to help propell the bullet faster.
Yes. The explosive powder inside the brass shell is normally ignited and takes some time to burn, reaching peak burn by the time the bullet would have left the barrel. This means the released gas from the explosion only has to fill the barrel, pushing the bullet out in front of it. Without a barrel to constrain/direct the gas/energy is released in all directions so the amount of energy propelling the bullet is significantly lower. This is why the bullet here doesn't have much force.
I would have thought the brass would split!
1:10 the bee caught on frame was fun to watch
Imagine catching the bullet from a safe distance, now u can say u caught the bullet
How about some rifle rounds like 30-06 or 7mm-08 or 7mm mag
Love the warning on my cci ammo DO NOT DROP! This has not helped although I know it take a pretty good hit to the center of the primer....thanks guys...😐
Now time to try 45-70
Man I thought the Bullet made the gun but naw the gun make the bullet
That could put your eye out.
That's was cool. If you set it up as a security trap , some chicken shit DA would still try to prosecute you with a destructive device.
Booby trapping is illegal to prevent first responders from getting pungi spiked in the feet when you have a heartattack
@@CoreyandCrew I didn't use the word Booby Trap for a reason.
@@martyshannon7542 "booby trap" means any concealed or camouflaged device designed to cause great bodily injury when triggered by an action of any unsuspecting person coming across the device. so your "security trap" would probably be legally considered a booby trap
@@giantmanice thanks.
@@giantmanice .. Well said. Descriptions usually include the words "not directly under your control when discharged." Common examples are a shotgun with a string tied to a doorknob or a string ran across a walking path. Since the target is indiscriminate, both would be illegal, with serious consequences.
"You'll shoot your eye out". 😁
I almost skipped past this video cuz I thought I knew was going to happen... I did not. I swear I'd seen a video before where they did something like this in the bullet just tumbles randomly while the cartridge explodes without any direction. Also Good slice on that watermelon to get to the bullet in one cut
That little device could cause a serious injury.
That watermelon cut! 💯
Check out that rifling after firing dude.
Wow! I can’t believe how much horizontal energy It lost. A 45 usually rips time and space.
add a tube to the end and see the difference lol
my 13year old was shooting my 1911 and had a round go off in the mag. blow the grips off and burned his hands a little but that was it.
Probably would not feel too good, but little to no penetration except perhap the eye. What was the FPS if you know ?
Isn't that wonderful little boys and firearms bless your little hearts
I'm honestly surprised it went forward
very interesting.
Neat video.
Super video, vždycky mě zajímalo jakou to má sílu, když to neprojde hlavní👍 V joulech to není, ale ta dřevěná destička mi dala obrázek
Příští video bude s .22 lr a pak se můžete těšit na speciální náboje 500 NITRO EXPRESS a nebo 50 BMG
Put a short barrel on it.... you basically have a gun 🔫 and it would kill just the same as a regular one. That's interesting how much force it has. Wow
It's funny. While young I would throw 22 shells into the camp fire. The bullet was heavier than the case so the case would fly off and disintegrate leaving the round in the ash.
1:11 fly pulls a disappearing act . LoL 😂
Bullets exploding outside the containment of a gun barrel are dangerous , but all the pressure is lost as soon as it’s free of the brass case . Reality vs movie . LoL 😂
Well, this can conclude that guns are rendered useless without barrels. The groove I within the barrels give trajectory, accuracy,as well as penetration power of the bullet. All in all, even compact guns need at least 2" of a barrel for some trajectory and penetration. Last but not least, compact guns can not be used to aim at distances 30 yards and more. Hence,I don't understand why many people love sawed off shotguns.
Interesting 👍🏻
What if there was a chamber to prevent the case from rupturing, but like zero actual barrel?
If you wrap it in thin leather and set it in ballistic gel it would show people how your hand would fair if it went off while holding it.
That would make for a sore ankle 👍🏻
Barrel play an important role👍👍Thanks me latter.
"Tripwire alarm"
Video interessante!
Can you try 45-70 at some point
Can you do .22 LR next?
Ok 👍💪
I'd hate to have that cut out of my hand
So the scene in ''shout em' up'' is mostly realistic?
Still hurt 🤕😂
Cool
Should show what does in a barrel More spectacular.
Ow, stop shooting me.
That was a good visual about how important it is to store your gun in the house with no rounds in the chamber. It would be good to see a video of a 357 or 38 pistol round fired from a revolver. Then show one from just the cylinder. Then show one fired from just the speed loader. It just might save a fireman or a neighbor. A lot of old people have revolvers and they keep them loaded because they don't want to be fiddling with tiring to load them after getting the gun unlocked.
No, isn't, if it's not your defense gun, ok that makes sense, but if it is, there's no reason not to leave a round in the chamber
So I guess you tell the bad guys to wait until I load my gun?
Interesting video but why no Chrono of such bullets? Velocity is the key factor man
I would venture to say if you sleeved the bullet it would increase its lethality.
Cómo la hizo?
wouldnt necessarily kill ya but goddamn would it not feel good, when i was younger my grandfather who's a vet (used to live w my grandparents on my moms side, my mom and younger siblings) he used to absolutely stockpile firearms, mags, and ammunition, just about most mainstream calibers were in this room, .22lr, 9x18/19, .45, .380, .38spcl, .223, 7.62 (of multiple kinds), etc. well one day, his lovely bedroom/armory caught fire because of a candle he had left going while he napped, and the fire spread to a majority of the room, and man, you can ONLY imagine what the inside of my house sounded like, shit probably sounded like Waco to our neighbors LOL, obviously there was no barrel length so the projectiles really didnt catch MUCH velocity at all but still, you could hear rounds wizzin everywhere
that's a zip gun though lol
Do steel case!
