  • At Indiahikes, we strongly believe that children must trek. When they’re young and observant is the best time to expose them to the outdoors. They absorb lessons of resilience, confidence, and leadership and also learn to protect the environment. These deep values take a very long time to imbibe in a person, but it can happen over just a few days on a trek.
    In this video Swathi Chatrapathy, Head of Content Team shares about three main points that make a trek suitable for children and also recommends 5 treks that are suited for kids between 8-10 yrs old

    I have sort followed the sequence which Swathi has suggested. In 2019 I went to Dayar Bugyal with my 8 year old daughter and then to Kuari pass in 2022. Now we are planning more. In my personal experience it tends to a great exposure to the children and opens them up and as mentioned in the video also even the preparation for trek brings the family together. Highly recommended to all parents.

    Mam what do you think about Harkidun valleY....???

    • @Indiahikes
      @Indiahikes  Год назад

      That would be a very long trek for children, since each day is quite long. Even exit isn't easy. You could do 2-3 days of the trek and come back and give the child a nice cultural experience. But wouldn't recommend doing the whole trek unless the child is above 12-13 and fit.

    • @Indiahikes
      @Indiahikes  Год назад +1

      Wouldn't really recommend it unless you're planning to do it at your own pace and a mix of vehicle+trekking. For 7-8 year olds it's too lengthy a trek. Would recommend choosing from one of the treks mentioned in the video.

    • @Indiahikes
      @Indiahikes  Год назад

      Hi Aditya, unfortunately, we don't have any treks for 5 year olds. The minimum age criteria for all our Himalayan treks is 8 years.
      But you can start taking your child to the local day hikes around your city to introduce him/her to the world of trekking.
      We do have 240+ treks across India documented on our website. You can check them out to plan your hikes - indiahikes.com/documented-treks

    • @Indiahikes
      @Indiahikes  Год назад +1

      6 would be a little too early for longer Himalayan treks. It's better to start local, or maybe take them on weekend treks to begin with. To a place like Benog Tibba or Prashar Lake. This article written by our founder will give you a very good idea of how to go about it - indiahikes.com/children-trekking/
