- HTC Wildfire S Review Part 1 by Aaron
Aaron goes in-depth with the HTC Wildfire S, T-Mobile's newest Android smartphone. Announced at Mobile World Congress earlier in the year, the Wildfire S has a 600 MHz Qualcomm CPU, 3.2-inch display, 5-megapixel camera with flash, and Android 2.3 with HTC Sense 2.1. Despite the specifications, it performs well in most day-to-day tasks. It's a nice little mid-range smartphone that would be perfect for a first-time smartphone buyer, or perhaps for a texting teenager. It's available at T-Mobile retail stores now for $79.99 after mail-in rebate. Part 1 of 2.

my first smartphone used it mainly for e-mail, facebook and youtube and i does the job really well
"Your daughter doesn't need that high-end HD recording, dual-core totting Android Smartphone..."
Man, we have come so far in just 7 years!
As long as you don't use this phone for anything but web browsing, you should be fine. But don't expect to be able to put many apps on it. I have Pandora and Gmail, and thats all I can fit on it. Got the Amaze today. Happy for the upgrade.
I'm getting this phone in about 2 weeks! Im really excited although there are a few bad comments about the phone i would like to test it out myself and if anything i have a second one on mind the "Coolpad Quatro 4G"
@MasterHackintosh We would have to pay for the minutes plan, which is about $40 for the cheapest (around 400 minutes) and extra for the data plan, which is another $15-$30.
of course it functions well, it has specs between an iPhone 3GS and an iPhone 4, and it runs android as well, HTC way to go.
i have it and love it. I got it this year as my starter phone (first phone smart phone lol) only a few bad things. dont run rhapsody songs then lock it. it goes all glitchy and locks you out for 30 seconds. other mp3 files should be fine.
im getting this phone in 2 days..my friend has it and iv used it before...its great. i think you should get it
UK spec is good, no problems other than memory. 150mb for apps. Need a micro SD card (supplied)
really, thanks for saying that, i wanna get it in 2days, but ppl keep saying it sucks, making me second guess my decision.
I am getting this phone in february!
People seem to be complaining pretty heavily about the memory storage on this thing in blogs. O capacity. Having to delete aps if they want to download one etc.
i'm getting this phone for a backup phone since i broke my htc g2..and my next up grade isn't till next nov. Hope it doesn't suck.
Yes I have this phone it is a great phone it comes with voice command it does have android market and like in the video you can customize the look great phone
coming to virgin in october. just announced this morning
im getting this for christmas!! hopes its a good phone, and parents dont mistake it for HTC Wildfire instead of Wildfire S!!
I just bought it one week ago, Nice phone but a massive issue. It has extremely low internal memory so if you use Facebook like I do it can give you allot of "You are low on internal memory" warnings. I'm taking it back on Friday and I'm going with the Xperia Ray for not so much more. But all depends on what you want to do with it.
@MrJoeybear11 that phones not new anymore, and its the same as the world version of the phone so look that up!
Anyone thinking of getting this, DON'T . Trust me you'll regret it. These reviews are sugar coating the phone and dont talk about the many problems the phone has. Google it, or look at the comments on this video. These people arent saying the phone sucks for no reason.
My Wildfire S has several problems: random reboots, lag, crashing browser (can barely handle GIFs) and the overal browsing is slow, brightness of the screen switches (turning it on and it's too bright, then toggle standby), Clock&battery displays the wrong percentage when charging it (after toggling standby its fixed), little memory. Turn updates for apps off, because there isn't enough memory and a SD doesn't help. Seems the problems got bigger with each system update that HTC brought out.
i wish i got this instead of the lg optimus t... this looked like it had a waaay smaller screen but it looks like its the exact same size... and the camera is better. damn.
I played around with this phone. Seemed similar, if not better, than the LG Optimus V, which I've owned for about a year. Does it compare to the HTC Evo V 4G? Hell no. But it's relatively lag free and pretty lightweight.
Htc always makes such good looking phones
@iluvny4life battery life will be okay. but if you want a smoother android experience. go with the lg optimus slider. 800 Mhz processor.
@howne44 yes you need wifi if the video is over megabytes.
grandma tho? thanks for making me feel young Aaron!!
...I went from an iPhone to this ):
I don't mind the size or the feel, and other things I could get used to relatively easily...but it's way too slow!
as a backup phone its definitely worth it
at walmart this is on sale for 30% off. it only cost me 100$ for the phone and the plan! i got silver.
He makes us feel like screens below 3.5" screens are small. I have a 3.2" screen on my Optimus One and I think it's big enough.
it's free now and i hopefully will be getting in the next month!!!!
@MrBuracha Slowed down because less memory space only has a 2gig card stock
you shall make HTC Desire S review :)
@vicouswolf Yh i decided to get the Sony ericsson xperia mini pro (not the x10 mini pro) and i think i made the right decision luv the phone.
Cool smaller phone. Reminds me of my old sprint hero. :D
COMING TO VIRGIN MOBILE IN OCTOBER OMG
@kellykellyfan15 it does support live wallpaper. It's pretty smooth too
Might as well get a 200 dollar phone because in general you're going to be paying around the same for a high end phone per month plus your phone won't be outdated the next month.
I disagree with the notion that a smaller phone with a weaker processor is for people that are "new" to android phones or "don't need" the extra processing power. I have had 3 android phones and I like this phone because it has a longer talk time and battery life and doesn't take up a huge amount of space in your pocket, and the price is right. Just because a buyer doesn't want a $500 dollar phone that gets 2 hours of talk time does not mean they are "new" to smart phones.
I bought this phone 2 black fridays ago. You can't install many cool apps on this phone. It's only good for phone calls and text messaging. You can't stream nextflix either.
i have the htc wildfire s too its great
What do I do to clear up some memory, my text messages won't open?
FINALLY SOMEONE SAID IT HAS SWYPE THANK YOU
thats coming to Virgin Mobile USA supposedly
This was my first phone not bad
@TraumaSeries NO...the iPhone is top of the line...now that is arguable, but that is my personal opinion. I would have an iPhone over any other phone, but I refuse to get locked into a 2 year contract. lol
@vicouswolf yh same, it's 129£ though. Plus im still debating because iv heard a few bad things about the wildfire s but it does look gd :/
"1 ghz duel core super phone" LOL
Should I get the intercept, this, the optimus v , or the optimus slider?
Im getting this phone for christmas. (: My mom ordered ittttt.
@luisj2891 Exactly, people seem to miss the fact this is an entry level smartphone.
what is HTC sense?
Is this phone has a GPS Navigation, FB, Twitter, Google and etc please help.
Does it have a privacy setting for like, messages/photos and things? llike, you have to put a passcode in to get into the messages or something like that?
I don't hear no sound on the video.
I have it now and it is dont for old people. How you think?
MY PHONE IS COMING IN THE MAIL.

This phone is pretty neat I love playing angry bird in it :)!
can this phone run on a 4G plan at T-mobile
@122auto is it good??? and loud enogh
@phonecatss Untill you see Samoled.. I would pick my nexus s over my hd2 anyday
@MrDazzeed if you finished watching the vid, you would know
I think the minimum for touch phones should be 3.5in. This is way to small even if it's entry level.
thes sre the things on the phone sites I always check
gsmarena good at writing reviews on phone.
phonearena good at giving the latest phone news.
phonedog good at video review of the phones.
Have it
è meglio l'HTC wildfire s o l'HTC explorer??

"Not Everyone needs a dual-core powerhouse" and I'm watching it on an LG G3, spec monster of the year.
New American Fishkeeper I never have had a high end phone. I prefer midrange phones cause I get that high end feel with the over load of wanting to be on my phone all the time
kilo_yomama
Mid-ranges do have better in-hand feel quite a bit of the time.
New American Fishkeeper yeah like my HTC desire 816 it's beg but it has a 720p hd screen android 4.4.2 kit Kat sense 6 a 1.6 quad core processor (I forget the rest of the long ass name of the processor you can just look it up.) a 13 megapixel rear camera with a 5 mega pixel front facing camera and to top it all off it has a 5.5" screen. Now it only being 720p with such a big screen would seem to not be so good but actually it is better than I thought.
Hello!Does skype works with wildfire S??
Thaanx
does it have google play?
How much is it at virgin mobile?
does this have the android lock
@sollostyles How?
