Still running a clutch cable from a flymo lower as there was no bike shops for miles 😂
Driving an old car in Australia (where bush mechanics started), from one country town to another. Started with four flat tyres, drove past the highway patrol with no number plates, and flats. Pumped them up, drove 240km. But in the last 50km the exhaust pipe snapped at the middle of the car, and was dragging on the road. So we wrapped a rope around the entire car, like a ribbon for a present, and drove it into town, 11pm at night, roaring like a rally car!
Busted Cv axle on a 4 wheeler. Had a chainsaw and ratchet straps. Made myself a ski to get home. Would have been easier to hike home and get tractor but there’s no fun in that
Snapped my gear lever on my ktm lc4 clean off in the middle of the Alps, no Shop for miles. So we fixed it with a fork, duct tape and some cable ties. Drove over 1000km with it all the way home with a lot of hard shifting

Ok, there are very fast official drivers, but the essence of Dakar is represented by these drivers category, real enthusiasts who work hard to fulfill a dream, setting an example and inspiration for many people who, seeing the tenacity and resilience of these sportsmen, then try to realize the their dreams.

Red Bull Rally, twice. On Honda 450's. They both knocked a chunk of metal out of the side of the engine. Custom wood plug from a stick, Quick steel, 45 min lunch break, and then stealing a few ounces from the other bikes to fill the engine back up. Both survived till the end of the day.

The sportsmanship among racers is one of the best things about the sport (former road racer). Outstanding story... super glad there were no injuries and that his race goes on.

This is, I deem, the Dakar. Tiziano that struggle everyday in the thoughest category, Nani who shows being a real sportsman. The obstacles, the struggles and the joy of an awesome adventure. Then yeah, is great to see Sunderland at 10000 km/h flying over everything, but the true spirit of this race is in the sand inside the tents of the Malle moto. Daje Tiziano, I ll see you at Vivione’s pass this summer 😉

Tiziano Internó is always a pleasure to see him. Always smiling and positive, I follow him since last Dakar’s race and it seems to me to be together with all the Pilots of the Dakar.

Malle Moto is only for hero's and madmen 🤪 you have to be so tough and have such a strong never quit attitude, it takes a very special kind of person to finish the Dakar in the Malle Moto class.
This is what really really makes me absolutely love the Dakar all the way around. Sure there are some guys out there to win but everyone is on this personal journey, and everyone wants to see everyone complete that personal journey. It's seriously the only major event where almost all disciplines of racing work together in a race, something about that to me is magic.

But we know he’s not alone because on the Dakar you’re with all the other bikers, together.
As side that the tv version will never show. It’s the best side, the more honest side…

In the future, GoPro will give Malle Moto action cams, that they take from the riders each stage…
Present them on a channel….This is the Dakar for me…. Action cameras film the solo bikers oil changes, tyre changes all solo… no mechanics…. This is the Dakar…

I really dont understand, I mean I really admire the mental attitude ans d positiveness of these guys. (Loeb could have paid a bit more attention)
While i appreciate watching all the categories race during the day it wold be the malle moto guys that i'd like to hang with around the campfire (if they ever had time to hang by the fire)
Are the cars electronically warned they are approaching a bike?
Or just the bikes warned of fast approaching vehicles?

Top man. Lucky you weren’t killed. Safety systems should work better than that, and the organisers need to sort that out. And the car (etc) drivers need to be more careful, lives depend on it. Motorcyclist lives matter and are, by the nature of motorcycling, more vulnerable than those of other drivers. Come on ‘Dakar’, sort it. Les in UK

i just get Muito ZANGADO 😡😡😡😡😡 they heard the ALARM and some just doesn't slowdown this happen all the time!
Loeb always struck me as not a very nice person. this only goes to further that feeling, going blind over a dune at full speed with the beacon alarm sounding.....
