If you had actually popped the top off the battery there would be no need for the drill!!! Pretty much all vehicle batteries are made to be opened and resealed so that when the battery acid inevitably loses some or even most of its sulfer content as sulfates built up on the lead inside it, it can be dealt with properly! By using hot glue you created a spot for the acid to seep out of the acid proof container....

That cover, that you drilled, with the tabs on the sides pops off and the 6 fill holes are underneath it. This makes it easier than most batteries for refilling. A flat head should be all it takes to pop it off, but a sharp chisel and/or small pry bar makes it even easier. The fluid level needs to be filled correctly unless you like acid spills in your engine bay and concrete. Also that seems like a good way to make your battery go kaboom 💥.

Probably 1 out of every 4 or 5 I've had to use a razor knife to either cut a small plastic weld on the side of the caps or some glue under them, but very few are actually sealed to the point that they can't be opened. Out of somewhere around 200 batteries that I have tried to desulfate or just add acid to them I have only had about a dozen that I actually had to scrap from the damage caused while trying to pop the caps open.

Well 10.6v is a terrible charge. Basically a dead worthless battery. That aside, it will fix the battery only if the battery was already dead because it boiled off all the electrolyte. There are other reasons a battery can go bad though.

This is only a patch, you can also put aspirin in a dead battery and it will recharge it for a few uses but then it will be dead.
