This is the most wholesome man in the world
Never ever thought i could play the stuff i heard on the math rock playlist, decided to just try it and those tabs at the start were so clear and easy to follow along with your playing i got it down! I learned tapping specifically to play this. Sounds so good im boutta roll up to the guitar store with something other than stairway to piss them off THANK YOU.
Excellent stuff. Thank you. I'm sure guitar store workers will be glad to hear something different! Haha.
same! i learned tapping just because i wanted to play Tiny Moving Parts so much. math rock 🫶
you´re the marty schwartz of math rock
no. no he is not
Dabs & Tea Time he’s way more helpful than Marty
@@overtonesnteatime198 yes he is
@@carlitoxb110 no he is better, he's using tabs
Or, as some might say, MATHY SCHWARTZ
I just find it amazing when the actual artists teach other people their craft.
You're my "Sensei" of Math Rock guitar!! Thank you from Japan!!
Yes. He is a teacher of math rock.
Steve for the win
thanks for your lesson's dude! with love from Russia 💜
your songs legit and your thoughts behind the riff ideas sound fun and flow-full much appreciated.
Your words near the end there are really inspiring and light,
I've had my head in theory for a while and it's very slow going and feels heavy.
I really do need to just pick up my guitar and play.
Thank you for the wonderful lesson!
You're a king
Great Stuff man, super helpful!
Just found your videos the other day. I've been practicing the chords since then and my playing has gotten better. You really know your stuff!
That's great to hear. Honesty I didn't know that it would be as useful and popular as it has been. Thanks.
WOW that Funeral for a Friend track was a blast from the past. Awesome video; I really enjoyed the breakdown of Incandescent.
Haha. It sure is! I'll be making a playthrough video of Incandescent soon so I'll have tabs for the whole song.
my man really loves that riff and so do i
Thank you for sharing your knowledge!!!!! Love to play these chords now that I’ve learned them.
You are a fuckin legend, and internet rockstar, thank u
Great lesson! Thanks a whole bunch for doing these videos you're extremely talented and helpful! Peace and love ✌🏿
Bm9 is one of my favourite chords! Good work on the videos, I’ve really been getting into the emo/math rock style of playing over the last couple of years and it’s good to see like minded people on here!
I've been looking for that Juneau track FOREVER. Heard it once years ago and never could remember the name. Subbed and liked for that.
The beginning riff for the DM7 chord is very The Smiths like. It sounds great.
I love this channel.
Thanks!
im starting to have fun again with the guitar. im using your chord ideas without relying on scales and just by hearing what sounds good. thanks for these videos.
Just subbed to your channel. Your videos are on mathrock amazing!
ive been looking for new chords for so long thank you
Thanks Steve! Really enjoyed and needed this one. Also sparked a couple ideas for me.
Glad to hear it! Thanks
Midwest emo and math rock is going through a renaissance now. What a time to be alive
Nice to see you're back with tips. Your last video was dope!
I love this style
Really informative and helpful videos. Really cool stuff even for more "advanced" players.
Thanks for the support y'all

Your lessons are a blessing thanks froms México, Mountains come to México please
Love this channel, got me into a genre I was just discovering a few months ago
Thanks!
Seriously one the most informative , bad ass , channels on you tube. What a classy , kind hearted , and giving person u are for doing this Your as good as ichia or what ever the hell his name is. Baby face Asian tap king. I think your better. Channel is way better
Hey Steve thanks for your demos and being a good guy :)
Thanks for watching my videos!
such a legend Steve 💯
Thank you for adding the pics. Lets me screenshot them.
Thanks man! Been using crazy chords in a song i've been working on. Keep up the good lessons!
And also to make it easier to read, you notate GM9 as Gmaj9 to avoid confusion.
Thank you!
Love your videos man
Yet another great video!
Thanks Jonas!
Glad somebody else appreciates casually dressed and deep in conversation. Beautiful music, keep it up. Learning guitar currently, gonna be sure to use some of your chords and licks
It's a great album. Some right hits on there. Have you heard the acoustic version of that song? It's pretty cool.
@@LetsTalkAboutMathRock Just listening now, beautiful, thanks for letting me know about it! It's completely different, so lovely :)
awesome thanks!
BLESS YOU
you're a legend!
awesome channel!
I'm a new sub, but longtime player. Your videos inspired me to go for finger tapping
Awesome! Glad to hear it. I have 6 or 7 videos on finger tapping. If you go to all my videos and use type tapping in the search box they will come up :)
I'm really digging your sounds here. I listened to a bit of mountains on bandcamp and I think I have a new favorite genre of music. If I buy the out of sightout of mind album on there, does it still come with the tabs and files?
Hello! Yes, it should give you them as bonus items after purchasing. Let me know if not and I'll send them to you. Thanks!
Great lesson Emo Dude.....! Yeah..... Baby!!!!
the band sounds nice
Thanks alot mann
I LOVE YOU THANK YOU YOU ARE A GOD
Thanks for the awesome videos, no doubt I’ve become a better guitarist after watching and learning from your suggestions!
You're welcome! Thanks for the support.
Any chance you could teach us how to play "the stars" by algernon cadwallader?
don' t use auto focus on your camera, sometimes it goes ADHD mode
love your videos
Haha. Yeah, I forgot to put some text in the video to apologize for that. It hasn't done it before, but yeah it's annoying!
Awesome video! But...
Even if you don't go into the theory of what you're playing, or it wasn't your intention when you were coming up with the riffs. For future videos could you please say what notes you're playing in the licks? Along with the chords and stuff of course. So a theory head like me can relate the notes back to the chord to get a specific interval in my head as a sound I could use.
Thanks a lot! Your stuff inspires me every day! Love the EP ❤
Sure thing. I usually do that but didn't for this video. Thanks for the comment and I'm glad you like the EP :)
TwT thank u sooo muuuch
YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH
You listened to any Remo Drive? In love with them at the moment, think you'd like them. Keep up the good work dude!
Elliot Jones yooo Remo Drive are great
Their drummer used to be in a band called JANK. They're quality, shame it disbanded, but at least Remo came out of it.
Vincent Monaghan that’s just their touring drummer, their original drummer was Sam mathys and he was kicked out before being replaced by the drummer of Jank.
@@bradenrocha9067 oh wow I didn't know, thanks for the info!
Vincent Monaghan remondrive was from like 2014 bro, they have old stuff on youtube thats really good if you like their new stuff!
Своеобразные красивые аккорды!
mans just introduced a FFAF tutorial into a math rock tutorial. Life changed.
Your band is pretty rad. Kind of reminds me a bit of Minus The Bear,
This might be my favorite music channel on youtube rn. So many other channels are done by metal heads or dad rock players. And that's fine, its just not what I'm into. I really enjoy getting into the minor details found in math/post rock and emo. If you ever wanted to branch further out and do more videos around gear and such that'd be cool too. I'd definitely find that interesting.
And that Sus chord! Immediately makes me think of the Police's Message in a Bottle. That song is nothing but sus chords!
Hello. Yeah. Message in a bottle! That's all sus 2 at the start if I remember. Played it when I was at college. I'm glad you enjoy the channel. Thanks a bunch! I'll be definitely doing a video on gear soon.
Steve thank u so much for the videos, it helps much you know. Anyway there are few Indonesian midwest emo based bands such eleventwelfth, Beeswax, Aillis. Hope you enjoy.
Hello! Thanks for the comment. I'll check them out, do they have music on RUclips?
Let's Talk About Math Rock Yeah, sure they have.
Any advice with learning how to use your thumb like you are?
Could you make a video about chords in ‘facgce’ tuning I can’t find any videos or pages about the chords. Also love your videos they’ve been helping me out a lot
You're in luck because that's exactly what I'm making right now! Haha. Should be out next week. Thanks.
FACGCE vs CGDGBE? Which do you prefer and why?
Hey what is that korean word on your EP's cover image? I'm Korean so just little surprised lol I subscribed this channel. thank you for your dedication.
Good man I believe Steve lives in Korea!
Thanks for everything you do!! Any chance you’ll start selling stickers with your logo?🤓🙌🏻
this
Hey Steve I hope you reply, you're a big help with getting the sound I want and an inspiration for getting me to play more. I am curious, what are some of the most influential bands that inspire your sound? Hope you get back to me, thank you
What kind of compressor do u use? I use a fat general. I think it’s best circuit out there for a compressor.
The first bit could be a Macseal song
Will you guys put your music in RUclips music?
curious, whats the guitar on the wall? looks quite cool
It's a Peavy Generation EXP. One of my first guitars :)
Do you have any recommendations for (math rock) songs to learn for beginners players ?
Never Meant by American Football
0:40 gave me MAD hot mulligan vibes
Is it a Cmaj9omit3 or is it an inverted Gmajadd4?
Haven't got my guitar with me but chords can have muiltuple names for sure. Check out Jamplays chord namer app online. That'll give you all the possible names:)
I think it would be a sus chord since it doesn’t have the third. When you use the 2nd/4th in place of the 3rd in a chord it will be a sus chord.
Can you make a full mathrock songs cover ?
I will be doing so! Thanks.
@@LetsTalkAboutMathRock please try Murphy Radio song's. Thx you.
instead of flipping coins from now on i will click on a random video on your channel and see if incandescent plays or not
Thanks from Ukraine
NUMERO 1
Is this in standard tuning?
Yes 👍
do you still live in korea?
Yup
What if I'm deaf? 🤷
Dang... that Funeral For a Friend song was like middle school for me, just before high school. You're taking me too far back.
Sorry... 😅
I'd be emo too if my name was steve
Sound like Japanese Rock actually.
could anyone here in this "mathrock" bubble let me know if my latest single Nothingness is cool?
Ok but fr are these chords for big handed people
Why are y'all in Korea tho
FACGCE vs CGDGBE? Which do you prefer and why?
