- A new law targeting undocumented migrants is set to go into effect on July 1st. The law is already affecting farms and construction sites in the state.
He needs to be audited! 40 years of not paying employee taxes! Sounds like prison time to me !

They tried that they tried paying people $20 an hour. They hired 50 young people who were legit by the end of the month. They were only two left and then after three months, none of them stayed nobody will do that work because you can always go to McDonald’s and make the same amount of money under air conditioning. Why would you want to do something so backbreaking would not make any sense
Plus anything more than $20 then you’re going to be feeling it at the grocery store. I think they should just give more work visas to these people have them work there for 10 years and then give them their freedom to work somewhere else I think that is fair. That’s not going to affect anybody.

If he gives them a W2 (big if), then they would have taken out and paid payroll taxes on the employer side. But a lot of these industries will issue the workers 1099s (illegally in most cases)...then no one ends up paying taxes and the business claims that as a business expense to reduce their income tax.

A lot of these people don’t know any better that these farmers and construction businesses are just plainly exploiting them. They don’t realize is minimum wage laws and they pay them cash under the table lot times they only pay them five dollars a day. They think they’re making good money. Anybody who hires illegals needs to be audited. I would safely bet that they are exploiting and taking advantage of their workers. They don’t have to pay the minimum wage. They can pay them five dollars a day and they can get them to do the work. I bet if an American citizen or illegal immigrant went up to some of these businesses and applied they wouldn’t be even given an opportunity to either an interview for them. Because they would probably want too much money and then they have to pay benefits. For anybody out there that would exploit somebody that would not know any better for cheap labor. I think they should have their business seized immediately.

And the "Americans won't do this job" statement should be met with heavy fine as many Americans will do these jobs. When I was 16, I was a dishwasher and it helped me pay for living expenses at home for my entire family and tutoring fees. Today they won't hire a high school student to wash dishes because they know he or she has rights and prefer to underpay an undocumented worker and often do not give breaks and pay overtime.
Most Americans aren't going to work these jobs and if they do everything will get more expensive than it already is with inflation.

Suggestion for DeSantis, how many men and women are locked up in your jails and prisons with nothing to do. I am sure they don't feel entitled while locked up like animals. I am sure a lot of them would love to be on any work program especially getting the chance to work outside. The state can make money, the farmers still get cheap labor, the the inmates learn some work ethics while paying back to society. They also can earn money so when they are released they have some cash to help them get back into society. I went to jail once the place was so messed up I would have been glad to work on a farm instead of sitting in a cell all day and night going crazy. Also keep the migrants that are here liget by way of law. Just a thought.

They bypassed that and broke the law they deserve no rewards. This is exactly why my brother company gave some of their employees time to show their documentation and when they didn’t provide it they let them go , they will not be short of work because their workforce is built with legal workers.

Well, that's how this works, most of us work with false social security papers, which are the ones that are shown to obtain the job, when you already have it, you work under that number and taxes are deducted and at the end of the year that money that you even deducted in taxes, they no longer return it to you because you do not have real social security, so that money is kept by the IRS

What does going to a hospital have to do with it? They didn't say hospitals use e-verify before they'll treat you. Also, hospitals and emergency rooms are highly exploited by these people for services that will NEVER be paid for. One of the reasons health care costs are so astronomical for legit US citizens.

This isn't about having only legal citizens working. It's about making sure the workers are documented and approved to be in the usa to work. When was it ever ok for a business to hire undocumented people at all. Construction workers who have no documentation or approval from the government to work are scary situations. What buildings and roads are they constructing, wow. Dont know because they are undocumented and unknown.

Some business owners are complaining because they pay their undocumented workers a very low wage and in many cases, for long hours worked. It makes those businesses much more competitive. I wouldn't refer to those workers as slaves however. Serfs might be a more appropriate word.

I have a suggestion....refund the Police, reinstitute laws for criminality and then utilize the prison population for the work that needs to be done. I'm sure that paid inmates will work in these jobs for more commissary and to be able to be outdoors.
