  • In Italy, thousands of Indians are employed as cheap labor in the agriculture sector. It’s an exploitative system that includes human smuggling. The working conditions are inhumane. But they enable cheap vegetables in supermarkets.
Some 30,000 people originally from India live in the province of Latina. Many do not have papers. Most work in one of the 10,000 local companies that produce wheat, fruit and wine. The conditions are often terrible, with working days lasting 14 hours - for three euros an hour. Many of the recruiters are themselves from India and they’ve developed a human trafficking scheme to bring more workers from India. They exploit the fact that many Indians are hoping to escape poverty at home. A report by Margherita Bettoni, Naomi Conrad and Aasim Saleem.

Actually you can't find Punjabi sikh migrants abusing local traditional or welfare money.

Italy will be the next greece or even worse the next africa even north italy (the richest region) is becoming poor lot of italians goes abroad to find a normal life. Today even foreigners are escaping moreover the youngers once they get italian citizenship they leave and they are right to find work. in italy finding work was and will be difficult. When you have companies who goes in eastern europe to pay less taxes and pay low salaries, when you have stupid politicians who earns more than 16000 euros net and they dont give a f...k about their Citizens and businesses, When they do contracts jobs of one week, one month(if you are lucky)even if you work harder they will fire you, when there is no dialogue between institutions politics and moreover Citizens then is not more a democratic and normal country. When i see immigrants coming to italy i feel very sorry for them because i know 100% lot of them will do a life even worse than the slaves immigrants thinks italy is europe is a riche country everyone can have this everyone will be rich. My friends italy is no more the richer country before 2008. italy is finished forever in 10 years in italy there will be more older people than youngers. If someone wants to go to italy should know from now that some parts only some parts of north italy can find a temporary solution what i mean? I mean that you stay 10 years or more just to do your european documents and after simply leave there are no job opportunities no more. I remember before 2008 how life was good finding work was good and easy. But today is becoming very hard even for italians. If italians goes abroad to look for a job then there is a reason they are not crazy peoples who suddenly wakes up and say today i go to germany today i go to switzerland today i go to sweden today i go to uk today i go to usa to denmark ti belgium . Have a good day people and never back down.( i left italy 2 years ago and i am more than happy today) good luck.

Do you see that happening? I don't think so. How will the common man fight? Whom will he fight? The judicial system is the slowest on earth - in the meanwhile, the common man fighting against corporate greed has no - monthly unemployment benefits, no government housing, no free healthcare or education. How can such a man fight?
A reasonably-good, middle-class salaried man in India pays 30% of his income in taxes and gets squat in return. All his money for 60+ years has been squandered away by politicians in caste politics - which, even the so-called castes that they politicians claim to support, don't get.
There are 3 problems that is making lives difficult in India:
      1- Overpopulation
2- Middle and lower-level government officers
      3- The Bureaucracy
Politicians don't decide policies; they only direct; the policies, rules, and systems are made by the Bureaucracy who are the functioning force behind the government system. They have vested interest in keeping the system as it is.

A worse predicament would be the aging population outstripping the work force. Lower birth rates come naturally with increased standard of living. if you artificially accelerate this process, then you run into the problem that china will have in the coming decades: a large retired population that collects pension and adds strain to the economy, and a smaller young population that cannot support that strain.

      yoyo mama-
Did you know that China has planned to deploy 200,000 industrial robots per year starting 2020? The robots will replace labors. This is part of industrial 4.0, China calls that made in China 2025. This new industrial revolution will use Al, automation, computer and networking to replace human labor. China has begun layoff in Chinese industrial heartland. Being a communist country, the country offers generous severance package and unemployment benefits to displaced workers. India had missed the last 3 industrial revolutions. There are absolutely no sign that, under Modi gov, india is doing anything to join this new one.
In this new age industrial revolution, huge population is a liability, not an asset.

This is a simplistic argument. India is the largest country in the world by arable land, which is a more important measure of land area when counting population. It's just that India doesn't have large areas of desert/wasteland/unarable land like other countries of similar scale. Comparison with US is meaningless.

Punjabi people are certainly better-off (financially) then the rest of India. These guys in the video are doing this back-breaking work in Italian fields not because of poverty in India but in the hope of getting a residence permit in Europe.
For example: the sikh man in the documentary says that he had to sell his family gold jewellery to get to Italy. He sold #Gold??? Really!!! That's a poor man in your opinion???
Poor people in India don't have gold. Average people do, i.e. middle-to-lower middle income group. probably he is from a lower middle class. Certainly he is no poor man. His goal is emigration. Period.

ABHIJEET TRIPATHY, i suggest you carry on with your interesting work as an engineer in your country.
it is no fun working in a factory, and you can take it from me who had once supervised up to 100 workers on night shift, slaving away on a production line.

It's no surprise that a lot of Indians go illegally but it is really heart wrenching to listen to their stories and see the way they are living. Nonetheless they chose this life.

When Indians can't develop their infrastructure and improve education its population will end working as slaves for others, as is happening in this case. Countries like India and in South America need to weed out corruption and focus on making their countries better so that their citizens don't end up working for others. If Italians businesses want laborers, it should be Italians working. Same with the US, Canada, and Australia.

Being an Indian living in Delhi I would say this....it has become a practice first to emigrate to other countries illegally and then complain. Moreover...this is not related to any race or ethnicity. Mexicans in US, pakistanis, Indians, Bangladeshis, Sri Lankans, Italians in US...every one moves to other countries hoping of a better future. The ones who r trained professinals with educational certificates do better than the ones who r not. It's in a man's nature to always want more. The positive thing abt Indians is that by nature v r not rebellious and r ready to work hard. It's only that Indians should understand that moving out illegally is wrong. I am thankful to the govt of Italy that they have not deported those Indians.

This is a problem with punjab. This epidemic is due to eeveryone wanting to flee India to some western country. Majority youth in Punjab only have dreams of migrating to some western country and marry a western woman to get citizenship.

the problem relies on people who were open to smuggling people at the first place and decide to take advantage of them later on. I hope the working environment improves and these laborers receive the compensation they deserve to receive. I hope the best for them.

Regardless of that ,nobody has ever Made an interview or documentary of me or the ones like me, because se are italian and not foreigners. So we dont really count as much, we wouldn't produce any audience. So please lets not talk about racism, whoever mentiones that, is or wants to be blind folded.

If they are not happy, they can go back to their original country. It's actually a privilege to earn in Euro salary while other people in India only earn in cents per day . Slavery is not slavery when you're paid. Real slavery are people who aren't paid and are forced in labour with no pay at all. Let's not confuse anything here. These people have decided to leave their own country and their good life status so it's all fully their own choices. No one has forced them to come to Europe like these. So this isn't slavery, it's simply just a person's choice. Compare to some poor people in India, these people are actually living a much more luxurious life.

    • @rajeshranjan5170
      @rajeshranjan5170 4 года назад

Your answer is great , but it's not cents per day in India. It's $8 per day minimum.
