    Installed snow tires/wheels on my 2020 Prius Prime Limited, and TPMS light was stuck on. Tire shop didn't have updated TPMS tool, so I initially purchased an Autel 501 TPMS unit, couldn't get it to turn off sensor even with tech support. Watched your video and using my Carista adapter, worked perfectly! Returned the Autel, canceled my Toyota service appointment, so this saved me significantly! Carista for the WIN!

    I have new TPMS sensors and I will install them soon. I have the TPMS IDs and I will set them up using the method in this video. Will my car pick up the sensors once I write the IDs in? I'm asking because I've read that TPMS sensors need to be "woken up" after installation, so will I need to use a TPMS tool just for that? At that point I might as well just use the same tool to write the IDs to the ECU and not use Carista at all, I'm trying to avoid that and use Carista only if possible.

    • @Caristaapp
      @Caristaapp  4 месяца назад +1

      Thanks for reaching out! Installing new TPMS sensors sounds like a great upgrade! Once you've set up the IDs using the method in the video, your car should pick up the sensors automatically. In some cases, it might take a bit of driving at speeds around 30-40 kilometers per hour for the data to display accurately. If you have further question, please don't hesitate to contact us at support@caristaapp.com :)

    I have a 2011 Toyota Camry XLE and need to find out which sensor is not communicating causing a fault. Will Carista inform which sensor is faulty? Also do I need to purchase OEM sensors to register the new sensor with the TPMS? Thanks

    • @Caristaapp
      @Caristaapp  2 года назад +1

      Hello! Yes, you can run diagnostics and see which tire has a faulty sensor at the moment. Also, if you know which sensor is mounted on which tire, you can use the TPMS service tool to check the pressure of all 4 tires. If one of the sensors is faulty, you shouldn't see any pressure for one of the tires.

    Do you have to register the TPMS everytime you do tire swap, like changing from winter to summer tires and vice versa. I have these installed on my tire..wish never done it. I just manually check my tire anyways. That's what happened when you go to dealership. I got tricked into their upsell tactics..

    • @Caristaapp
      @Caristaapp  Год назад

      Yes, you always have to register the new IDs into the car's system. It's not a trick of the dealership; it's how Toyota vehicles handle Tire pressure monitoring. They use direct TPMS, which means that the sensors mounted onto the tires measure/monitor the pressure in each tire and provide that information to the vehicle. If you don't register the new IDs into the car's system, the car will not recognize the sensors, which means that you won't get any tire pressure in the dashboard.

      Carista cannot show you the IDs because the phones we use daily cannot pick up the signal from the sensors. There are specific tools designed for that purpose, though. They can pick up the signal from the sensors and show you the IDs. From what we know from other users, you can get this for free at the local tire shop. Once you have the IDs, you'll be able to register the new sensors with Carista.

    What I'm getting from this is that you need to actually look at the sensors to get their IDs in order to register them to the car. And if they're already installed and the tires are mounted, this is problematic. I would need a tire mounting machine to get the IDs myself, so I think it's more practical to simply put up with the TMPS warning light this winter.

    • @Caristaapp
      @Caristaapp  3 года назад +1

      Yes, you do need to have the IDs in order to register them, so we advise users to write them somewhere before getting the tires mounted. Unfortunately, reading the IDs remotely with the tires mounted requires specific hardware and can't be done with a phone/app. So if you're already in that situation, you could ask a tire shop to read them for you and then register them yourself... and you'll have them for all future wheel/tire swaps in the following seasons.

    • @riblets1968
      @riblets1968 3 года назад +1

      @@Caristaapp Thank you. That's what I surmised. I'll have the shop break the beads and record the sensor IDs on the tires' sidewalls next spring when I get the factory wheels put back on the car.

      Hello Michael!
      Toyota cars don't care about which TPMS sensor is mounted on which tire - that way you're able to rotate them (e.g. put the rear left tire on the front) without the need to re-register the IDs. The unfortunate consequence of that is you don't know which of the reported sensors goes where.

    • @Caristaapp
      @Caristaapp  3 года назад

      Hello! Toyota cars are not engineered to make difference between the TPMS sensors, i.e. which TPMS sensor is mounted on which tire - that way, you're able to rotate them (e.g., put the rear left tire on the front) without needing to re-register the IDs. The unfortunate consequence of that is you don't know which of the reported sensors goes where.

    • @Caristaapp
      @Caristaapp  3 года назад

      The IDs are physically written on the sensors, so if you're dismounting and remounting tires, you can see them there. But if the tires are already mounted, then you'd need a special hardware tool to read the IDs from the sensors. Most reputable tire shops have those tools (as do the dealers, of course).
