Is the Honda NX500 suspension any good

In this video I take a standard Honda NX500 and test it on a variety of roads, including some really rough post winter road surfaces, and see how the new models suspension copes.
I was particularly interested to see how the modifications to the new model compared to my standard 2019 Honda CB500X, as well as that of the Rally Raid suspension fitted to my personal NX500.

My 22 plate 500x back end gets bouncy if you start pushing on a bit but the front end does ok 👍

I believe they’ve tweaked the rear end for 24 but difficult for me to compare like for like… not bad for a reasonably cheap bike 👍🏻

Hows the compression and damping rebound into bends how does it react ? Do you feel any stretch or lag, is the front end preload adj make a diffrence ?

Actually, like my general view, it surprised me in a good way.. the bike felt planted on the bends, with both front and rear keeping it steady, definitely an improvement on the 2019 version with oem suspension.. I think the rear would be at its limits with passenger plus luggage though

I'm pretty sure there were no suspension changes between the 2022/2023 CB500X and the NX500 - the inverted Showa front shocks were a change for the 2022 model year so they aren't new for the NX500.

I’m sure I said in the video I was comparing between my 2019 and the NX and it definitely is a big improvement on that…but if hadn’t I’ll add a note in info section and I’m now wondering if it’s just all my aging memory loss that’s to blame 😂

I’ve a feeling these NX versions are going to attract an even bigger following than the 500X, they have just taken a good bike and made it better….time will tell though 😀

I have just had my mitas enduro trails fitted . I was going to try and fit them myself but luckily for me I was in the supermarket on Sunday . I bumped into a guy whom I recognised as a local motorcycle dealer mechanic . I told him of my purchase and he said drop them wheels at my house and I will take them into work and fit them for £ 20 . I picked them up and fitted them tonight .( I gave him £40 as I thought £20 was far too cheap. Obviously he is a salt of the earth type guy like most bikers ) obviously I haven’t tryed them out yet because it’s been pissing down all day . Will let you know my thoughts once I’ve run them in if the sun shines again this year .

Nonsens to change the suspension it is perfeckt as it is strange you must change that and the peoples in the rest of the world are happy as it is? are you some special in weight or some who need a another suspension? its a waist of money and only nonsense!
And you can't even make a video without the trerrible wind noice???

I suppose it’s all about what you want in life and I’d never criticise someone for their choices… it’s a bit crass of you to suppose I’m wasting my own money.. like your ability to post what you want I guess ‘everyone to their own’

@@eddale5557 to be fair the suspension on NX is much better than my old 2019 500X but I was able to transfer the rear RR suspension from that to this so with multi bike and multi year usage it’s not too bad from a value for money spend.. anyhow, let’s finish on a positive note, whatever we choose to do the 500X and NX500 are great little bikes 👍🏻
