@@BierBart12 😏
isnt he a boss in bloodbornes chalice dungeon?
@@Ayuima69 no...
Imagine the Bed of Chaos is defeated and just as you start walking away the thing uproots itself to fight one final phase
i would probably quit the game at that point, the fight is already fucked enough lmao
@@jawknee4088true, especially since half of the ground of the boss area is most likely already gone
That would've been Sanctuary Ape before there was Sanctuary Ape
Dark Souls 3 has tainted your expectations for boss fights
certified guardian ape moment
It's okay, Crag Hollow. You'll get your time in DS2; just like how the unfinished ice stage in DeS became the Painted World.
The Painted World was the first level designed for Dark Souls 1, actually
Was the crag hollow the spider people in tseldora? That’s what they remind me of
@@jamesguy2265 I believe that's what they became.
@@theta_clips It was, because it was level geometry largely left over from DeS. That's probably why you have unique enemies like the mini-phalanx.
Jar-Eel definitely looks more like a Demon's Souls Boss than a Dark Souls Boss.
Yeah now that you mention it, does Dark Souls even have near human sized bosses aside from Gwyndolin? Idk if I should count Artorias, Gwyn and Ornstein because they are waaay taller than chosen undead
@@mikeraymundo92 Well Dark Souls 2 has a few kind of but they also fall under the Artorias type of model
@@mikeraymundo92 well the thing about Dark Souls is that you're a little guy taking on Godlike and Demonic beings 10x your size and you're supposed to essentially conquer them. The games with human sized bosses are Bloodborne, because you're supposed to be effortlessly hunting the creatures, and Sekiro. Thing is usually there's a second phase that makes them larger and m monstrous.
@@mikeraymundo92 the reason is, the more powerful someone is in dark souls the bigger they get. thats why gwyn is so small because hes already almost dead
I wonder what the lore was for him
Bed of Chaos just makes me really sad, because looking at this just lets me think that From planned a really sick bossfight for it.
Just some fucking weeb yeah they had to trash like 70% of Izalith design and development and put that horrible bossfight due to time.
+Awe because of the last generation technology
Literal crawling chaos all I'm gonna say
Imagine how awesome it would be if they did a remake of ds1 with ds3's graphics and gameplay mechanics while also implementing everything they had to dump or rush due to lack of time. Now that's something that would be worth full price. The ultimate Dark Souls 1, would be a true masterpiece (it already is though...
knowing from it probably would have been a chase fight after you killed the tiny bug and would have required you to survive till the rest of it died
Man, i'd a give a penny for what the devs had in mind with that crawling bed of chaos, especially Izalith itself.
izalith is the reason why dark souls deserves a remake instead of a remaster, but well, maybe when ps6 comes we'll see it
Pablo Otero nah man, our best hope for a good bed of chaos fight is a fan remake of the boss if that's even possible.
Benn Uchiha but not only BoC, the entire dragon butt and ceaseless discharge scenarios are awful due to a lack of time when making the game
@@pod_036 I don't think that'll ever happen. It's like the people who want games like Morrowind or Oblivion fully remade (similarly to Shadow Of The Colossus). While likely possible, such RPGs and Dark Souls too would just be way too time consuming and huge to be fully remade. They'd be better off making new titles for each franchise.
I think they didn't a remake because of a license problem. Too many companies involved. Obviously if the did, it would be released at least 1 year later than the remaster. I think that the profit would be worth if it was easier to do
Chester looks like he belongs in bloodborne
chester came from bloodborne, when u meet him he states he has been dragged away from his time and that he's an hunter
This is not true. He does not say he's a hunter. Instead he says he is a traveler. It is speculated that From Software placed him as a hint for bloodborne. Nothing is set in stone tho.
He is.
@@heselofhephidiyiai5985 proof?
Meant to say does, my bad.
"Jar-Eel" looks and sounds like a DC comics villain...
He's just the cousin of Ja Rule, the Oft-Mocked Pretender Rap-King of the Past, dethroned by Lord Fīftiġ-Centum, the legitimate Rap Sovereign of the Age of 90's. Get it straight.
And Jar-El's alternate version where Krypton became Dark Souls
@@SeymoreSparda you mean 2000s
His armour is very vampiresque (looks like the one Manfred von Carnstein uses)
Kal-El's cousin who likes to cosplay as Jar Jar Binks
THE CRYSTAL LIZARD AND BEATRICE ARE ADORABLE
(and the sanctuary guardian looks like a pomeranian)
Guido Fedeli I'm so glad that model for the lizard wasn't used, it'd be like killing a puppy whenever I wanted a rare titanite drop Dx
I think Beatrice is a direct reference to Shierke from Berserk
and we all know one Sif is one too many ç__ç
Not only Beatrice there are tons of this in DS
Karkulčina Babička is there a Beatrice in any other souls game?
Did they update the textures on the unused stuff? Nice.
I don't think they actually updated the textures themselves, but there are "Material Classes" that textures are designated as part of, like Leather, Cloth, Metal, etc. which have all sorts of settings that affect how the game renders textures in that class. Whatever changes they made to the material classes just naturally affect even the unused NPC textures.
CuteAss Tiger they technically did, if you read her comment correctly.
InfernoPlus i was about to say they sure put in aloooot of effort
There goes my theory they just pasted a new engine on and didnt change anything
I think Zullie is mostly correct.
For enemies like chained prisoner/ Kalameet would share the same textures and normal maps with the finalised versions
Jar-Eel to me was always the most intriguing, I believe that he would have stood in place of the crimson sorcerer dude who gives you the key to drain New Londo. Woulda been cool to earn it from a boss rather than just get it from the NPC
He looks like Marget the fell before he became a tree
Just looking at the design of the armour I'm assuming at some point he was going to be where the four king's are now.
Beatrice definitely isn't inspired by Berserk's Schierke.
Yeah don't know what you're talking about
Yes, definitely. 😏
Dark souls is definitely inspired by whole berserk xD

The bed of chaos is a lot more insect like than I expected, reminds me of the angels in the ringed city dlc
I was thinking it had more in common with Seath in terms of those wings. If you look closely, Seath's and BoC's wings are extremely similar in coloring and design.
It looks like a incomplete/crawling pilgrim butterfly from DS3.
@@excaligaming2435 to me it's practically prototype Wolnir. The pose they sit in with the large sweeping attacks they do match really well. Both are pyromancers. Chaos bed could feasibly spawn lesser demons to fight you like how Wolnir summons his skeleton squads.
Jar-Eel looks like what one of the 4 Kings would look like with the Abyss under their control, or at least less corrupted by it, with his insect / wood styled armor.
Never knew the bed of chaos had insect wings
You're telling me the Bed Of Chaos could have been a much more engaging and thrilling bossfight but they decided to make it stationary? wHY?
One thing I've always heard people say is that Lost Izalith is around the point where the team ran out of budget. Which also explains why it's full of dragon asses.
@@alessandragonzales8190 It also explains why all the demon bosses there are incredibly forgettable.
Budget? Weak hardware? Wtf do you mean why genius?
@@Hextin Hey it's kinda easy to forget FromSoft was a much smaller studio back then!
@@THExRISER But now they are big.
They have a bigger budget and could have improved it in the remastered version.
It honestly felt like they just added some bonfires, slighty better graphic and the multiplayer.
They could have atleast fixed the bugs.
I hate tranquil walk of deaths and invisible walls and hitboxes.
Really annoying if you have an archer build and the arrows get stuck in the air next to a tree, wall or between the fence.
I really do wish they would have done a full re-make.
Well, you're asking Namco Bandai to pour some money into the game. Guess what, they won't. Remastered is here to draw some extra bucks from PS4/XOne/Switch players, PC port is pretty much an afterthought unless you haven't bought the game before.
Whining Ylthin I mean I'll still take it. If it means that with no additional setup I can put a password on my session and run Blighttown at a tolerable framerate in DS1, then I'll take it.
They poured money into it for the remaster. You think the people at QLOC don't get paid?
Theres always ps5 to play it on 🤣
Whining Ylthin Yeah, also FromSoft themselves weren't actually working on the Remaster, they had other companies carry out the purely aesthetic changes to the game (but FromSoft did handle a few QoL changes themselves for extra polish), while they themselves are working on other games like Code Vein and the unnamed teaser trailer game from a while back.
Jar-Eel looks like he's straight from DS2.
Kyle Morgan Demon Souls*
He looks like a soul calibur boss or something lmao
Sounds like Superman's relative
We don't talk about garbage here sir
@@KhepriX lol ok.
I feel like Remaster would've been so much cooler if they focused on bringing back the cut/never released content into the game, now that they have a huge fanbase and resources to do so.
Tbh nost of the cut content in games is cut for one reason or another
@@szymonwarsocki3942 I'd say the only part that should be remade is the lava area and bed of chaos fight, which were cut/simplified due to deadlines
They'd have to remake a lot of other stuff, to add something new
Old comment but in that case Dark Souls Remaster wouldn't be a Remaster if not a reimagination or a "remake", since a remaster means to bring an old game but with more quality
God, this music is so wonderful. Great videos on this channel. Well produced, informative and straight to the point.
Crawling Bed of Chaos looks like an Amalgam of Moon Presence and Amygdala...
unused moon presence also looks a lot like it!
I wouldn't be surprised if it was the inspiration behind some Bloodborne monster designs.
Ahh indeed.
Speaking of unused monsters in Bloodborne, a lot of the unused content shared by Zullie, are monsters that seem more fitting for Dark Souls rather than BB.

Soup the crag hollow is implemented in the game with the Prepare to die Again mod for ds on pc.
and then you have ds2 using the design too.
Soup that one made me think of Dead Space... and yeah, they kinda look like these spider-infested hollows of DS2 without the spider one the back tho.
Soup all I think is “I wonder what you drop, lil fella, lets see...”
Soup have you even played dark souls 2?
I'm honestly glad that "Jar-Eel" didn't make it into the game.
He looks very unfitting.
TheLuggy But he is in the game. He's one of the four kings.
probably the armor, the horns on it make it look too fantasy for ds
Yeah im glad they reworked him and turnt him into the four kings
Just like the Dark Lurker who looks like something out of Bayonetta
Yeah he looks like some kinda WoW character
Hey Zullie, thanks for the video, and thanks for all of the cut content mining that you've done for the Soulsborne community. I didn't realize that you had your own RUclips channel all this time. Happily subscribed.
Why would they knowingly port over unused assets into the new game?
Probably cause it's just original dark souls ptd with a more polished dsfix slapped on top of it. I guess they didn't care enough or forgot about unused assets to remove them
A secondary company doesn't have the right to remove unused code, and it's also trickier to do than you think.
Harry McGrory Did Fromsoft not make the remaster? And even if it was exclusively made and published by Bandai, wouldn’t they already have the full rights to the product? But yeah I guess it’s because it’s more unneeded effort, I just assumed the game wasn’t ported as an entire entity and they had reconstruct it piece by piece.
Ultimately kinda disappointing they didn’t go the extra mile and tried to play around with some cut content to give us some unseen armor sets or something. The game overall seems to be focused around delivering a more stable PvE/Coop system akin to DS3, which honestly doesn’t peak my interest. It’s kinda frustrating when it doesn’t seem there was a lot of community feedback being listened to, yet they take the extra effort to patch out bugs and glitches than generally make the game more fun. But I digress.
yung malaria people would of bitch about it not being like the original dark souls
Harry McGrory huehuehue...that's she said...
Beatrice looks like Shirke from berserk
vivi xD that's who she's a reference to m7

Ethan Ordorica get your lazy ass 2014 4chan memes outta here, we are talking about high fuckking art

Is that a motherfucking Berserk reference in my Miyazaki gaem?
Thank you for going ahead and doing this. It's cool stuff.
Almost everything was later used in Bloodborne and Dark Souls 2.
Укупник на параше Thats right.
Man, they should've just straight given Chester a Bloodborne moveset this go around
Imagine the looks on players faces when they attack him, he shoots and parries them with it...
They basically did... If you get him running he shoots you with a crossbow (in his left hand I think) and does a lot of kicking
I think the movment of bloodborn would be too much for a dark souls 1 character he'd be dodging too fast to get a hit in to actually damage him. You'd be suppressed how much difference that speed would make if used in the older games.
Cutest lizard is still in, good to know.
The prototype Sanctuary Guardian looks similar to the Fallingstar Beast in Elden Ring.
Jar-Eel's cape reminds me of Gael's cape. Though Gael's was split completely into two separate trails, like wings. Jar-Eel's is still damaged in such a way that looks very similar to Gael's, at least aesthetically.
tiny beatrice omg so cute
Crag hollow is amygdala working progress
Lucifer Archangel reminds me of the spider hollows in dks2
mr roar104 yeah I've forget this mob...
mr roar104 if you have the Prepare to Die Again mod on the dark souls nexus, the crag hollows are in the game, in the depths. You should check the mod out if u had original PtDE on pc.
Fire and Ice48 _ I'm on ps3/4 for now until black Friday this year. Gonna build a PC
mr roar104 oh well forget about the mod then, the dark souls pre-remaster has been taken off of the steam store. I thought you were on PC. I think the mod creator said something about porting to DSR though so maybe....
Oh man, this Dark Souls atmosphere is getting through my bones.
i LOVE the design of the Chained Prisoner. Can you imagine seeing that in The Depths or New Londo for the first time?
3:31 Viva Pinata has changed considerably since the 360...
Bloody nostalgia trip only with that name...
2:41 Demon's Souls Remaster Comfirmed
it was there in the original, and a lot more stuff too that is still present in games up to ds3.
It would be cool an Demon's Souls remaster or even a remake, i mean, probably will take a lot of time until MAYBE they make a Dark Souls 4 , so what would be the problem to be in other universe.
PabloC4 Dark Souls series will not be continuing after the third one
Miyazaki stated that 3 was the end for him, but he wouldn't stop anyone that wanted to make a Dark Souls 4. Hopefully we don't get a 4, it's not needed, but if it's good I guess I won't complain...
KysymysMerkki, just as the guy said, i know that they said that they will do something different and not dark souls, but in the far future, theres a chance of having a new one.
god bless you Zullie you're my kind of witch.
Unbelievable that you found this all so quick, and unbelievable that they are still in the game!
I honestly love Jar-Eel's sword, it looks so brutish and misshapen yet still able to fuck you up.
I've seen the artwork for the Craghollow, but never the actual model. Very nice!
Unbearable the prepare to die again mod for ds1 has the crag hollow in the game (pre-remaster) obviously.
Fire and Ice48 _ I should try that mod some time.

I've always had this odd idea that the crag spiders were once regular people: Probably Izalith residents. They use chaos pyromancy and make that weird human noise when they die. Seeing the crag hollow, it actually kind of seems like i might have been right about that. Did anyone else ever think about that?
Yeah, I eventually noticed they have human heads and hands and went “Ah crap, the giant flies are people”
Yo... Jar-Eel looks a bit like the Elden Ring boss in the new trailers. Neat.
Hey Zullie! I think I've been using your chalice dungeons to power level! Small world!
would love to see you revisit this with your current approach
That chained prisoner is giving me flashbacks to Lower Pthumeru Lord Of The Instakill.
Illegible Scream who dat?
Timothy Velasquez You play Bloodborne?
I'm like 90% sure that the chained prisoner is used in the dlc content (or what was the dlc). If not it's something that was inspired by it as it is incredibly similar, but I believe there's only one of them.
@@oneeyednoct2017 you would be 100% correct. The chained prisoner is right before the abyss dungeon bonfire.
I like the Kalameet here better haha
He looks like the original Gyura design from king's fields 2 a lot, but original Gyura was some sort of magician dragon that built a 80' neon fortress in an alternate dimension lol.
I'm honestly glad they didn't use this prototype; he just looks wrong. and his head was way exaggerated, almost stretched out. but to each their own.
he seems nearly out of demon's souls, he even uses king allant's sounds.
Moose Torrent couldn't tell anything was different
He looks too generic here, I prefer the original.
So Undead King Jar Eel looks like Christopher Walken in Sleepy Hollow had a baby with General Boscogn from Berserk (it's the armor)
...anybody agree??
Def got headless horseman vibes off him it looks the spit of walken from that film!
This reminds me of how for the most part the enemies felts so well suited in their environments and with the vibe of the game overall
Based on "crag hollow" and "crawling bed of chaos" it makes me think that they originally wanted to fix lost izalith but gave up part way through
No, both these things are present in the unused files of the original game.
@@Wveth that's what he is saying bro, dark souls 1 was rushed and have the areas are unfinished
Undead King Jar full of Eels

3:30 so this is where that accursed star beast came from... neat.
Would be cool seeing a fan made Dark Souls DLC in the other burg (bellow the graveyard next to firelink). Could have a lot of these unused enemies and weapons.
The way the ground breaks in the bed of Chaos makes me belive it was meant to be something like Rotten Great Wood from DS3 where you fight the moving bed of chaos halfway through the fight. Also King Jar-eal's armor looks like the 4 kings armor, perhaps before he was corrupted by the abyss is what one of the 4 kings looked like?
I can only imagine, how they planned to let the Bed of Chaos crawl at you after you hit the two orbs (probably even without floor collapsing)...it would've just required a much bigger boss room
This videos are pretty cool and interesting
Can't wait to see other unused content into DS1R.
The coatless versions of Chester make me wonder if he was originally going to be a boss/miniboss who would have changed form partway through the fight, throwing off his hat and coat then pulling out a sword and switching to melee.
Chester with his coat and crossbow setup looks like something straight outta Bloodborne
somthing tells me based on his look they later reused his concept for bloodborne as style wise he dosent fit in DS but obv. bloodborne was made to maybe expand on his idea?
@@RageBearer I honestly think they made Bloodborne based on Van Helsing movies
Amazing
That Undead king looks cool af. Reminds me of the old pc game Revenant.
Nice to finally see what Beatrice looked like, I’ve always loved her (and not just because I share a name with her)
From Dante to Shakespeare, from Kill Bill to Dark Souls, we're always the baddest bitches in the game :D
(... witches, in the case of this particular game)
theres already theories about how the blighttown cragspiders are actually deformed hollows, and the crag hollows basically confirm it
So damn cool
This is such cool shit!!
Wow. If ever we needed proof that they just took the old game, slapped a mod on it, and then released it, here it is.
No shit. Dark souls 3 for example have a other 3 souls game files in it.
Zekkekeipa what this should mean.
So.. They remastered an existing game? What a surprise
Audiodump if they wanted they could make dsfix illegal considering they own the game
And? Whats your argument here? That we should all be happy they're just lazy and not overt assholes?
Would love to know if DS2 and DS3 have any unused assets.
I think 2 has. 3 definitely has tonnes.
From is really good at storing unused content like leftovers in the fridge. To be eaten/used at a later date
Jar-Eel hits home for me for some reason.
I feel like the drawling bed of chaos would have been what happened after the two chains broke and that part turns into runaway section
Me: aww I would have loved to fight these guys (video gets to the crawling bed of chaos) me: OH HELL NO!
Apparently 'King Jar-Eel' was actually the original model for the four kings.
(Which makes a lot of sense looking at the four kings and the armor of 'Jar-Eel')
Is it the cry river from all those 3D Artist and Animator Unused Work I'm hearing in the background ? damn it's insane haha
I'm not surprised they left it in, keep in mind, it was not FromSoft who worked on it, it was two other companies who did, and were probably told to just fix every texture and certain other things, and so they did. This is what happens when a major game company dose not specify on extreme specifics to two companies who specifically just polish and clean games-
That was my thought as well.
That's not even it. They updated assets, and those assets are used by multiple different models and such. You get improved textures on these because it's the texture file used on other things still in the game.
pulling shit outta my ass 101
It's a shame there's no editor for this game cos it would be amazing to see some community creations using things like this.
Crestfallen Warrior every time Zullie shows game insights: oh for fucks sake.............
I think its a shame From did not use those crag hollows 1:28 in blighttown or lost izalith , they look amazing .
I often wondered what was Jar-Eel's role was suppose to be in the original concepts of the game. Was he suppose to be an optional boss or was going to be an important character that depends of what chose in to do in the game.
I believe he was a boss in New Londo, in the same location as Ingward, he would drop the key to draining New Londo
I see that Beatrice was originally planned to be even MORE like Schierke
God, seeing that Demon Souls crystal lizard bought back some memories. Hopefully if they remaster that, they take everything from DS1-3 mechanic wise and make Demon Souls more modern.
crag hollow looks perfect for a more fleshed-out, city-like izalith.
Just started playing the remaster on PC. The changes they made in visuals, though minimal, really make the game more beautiful. A lot of people are saying the game basically looks the same, and perhaps that is true once you get to Sens Fortress and beyond. Currently where I am (Dark Root Basin) the game looks really good!
Kalameet looks a lot like the dragon in kings field. He has his one eye and the grey look. Only thing that’s missing are the lazers
His animation is exactly the same as the animation of big dragons in Lords of Everquest (2003)
Kalameet has 3 eyes, he has the big glowing red one in his forehead, and a smaller red normal eye on each side of his head
I'd love to see all the three of the trilogy remakes with careful development and meaningful progressive time with no rush, added unused lores, enemies, items, details and more with DS3 or Elden Ring graphics and gameplay mechanics. I will wait even if it was 30 years in the future(if I'm still alive, tho) (:
Another remarkable performance by the actor Javier Bardem in the role of Undead King Jar-Eel
sanctuary guardians prototype looks like a cat high on catnip
Beatrice was too Kawaii for Dark Souls
Jar-Eel, whilst odd to say, sort of might remind me of the Four Kings, in which maybe they were more human originally or just one guy. Or perhaps one of them was sort of 'saved' afterwards, and became Jar-Eel. It's sort of odd, that from all the Lords, the Four Kings are never mentioned in the intro cutscene.
Does the normal Bed of Chaos model have those little dragonfly wings? Zullie, I summon thee!
