      Or maybe, just maybe, these components were designed before the sanctions, and China can keep cranking them out using the same 5 year old design.
      I’ve seen plenty of “Samsung” components on alibabba that turned out to be Chinese counterfeit clones; can’t blame Samsung for someone stealing their design.
      Good luck stopping China; it’s in there best interest to keep the US dumping money on Ukraine until the US citizens are too jaded to go to war and spend even more when China “reunites” Taiwan.

      Many components are smuggled through by many stages of hands passing things through. It is known, but no way is it going to stop or be tied back to actual manufacturing companies. Russia for one has always had a significant weak border with North Korea, do to its dependance on cheap migrant labor from NK. China as well has one of the weakest trademark enforcements leading to huge amounts of knock off brands and unlicensed manufacturing of goods.
      North Korea being so meticulously walled off, there is no international presence inside the country to even find evidence of sanctions being broken. If it is not bulk tankers heading to its territorial waters, there is zero reasonable expectation of finding any company or individuals to deal out consequences for violation of sanctions. Unless you're some kind of guru and are just too lazy or selfish to present a solution?

    • @ironmonkey720
      @ironmonkey720 2 месяца назад +3

      The mere thousands of parts aren't worth that exposure. It's likely theft and corruption in the country of manufacture. US should certainly hold these companies accountable, but it's not likely to be the case that these companies intentionally provide these parts to N Korea. It's more likely a form of negligence. Still worthy of being reprimanded and a tarnished reputation.

      American (and European too) companies sell their products in large batches and keep track of who, when, and in what quantities. They have monthly, quarterly, and annual reports where you can see which company from which country bought their products. Further, the report shows that some countries have started buying their products 300-1000-5000% more than last month, quarter, and year, so it immediately becomes clear where the products are actually going (well, if you're not an idiot). And if you want, you can track where new factories have been built in this country that create their own products based on the products of companies from America (Europe). If sanctions are imposed on a Russian or Iranian company or group of companies, and sales have not decreased by the amount of products that these sanctioned companies bought, then they are still buying the products. So, sanctioned companies can create fictitious companies or use intermediary companies to, for example, circumvent sanctions, but in most cases this will be a weak fiction. The manager of the sanctioned company will come and tell the representative of the chip manufacturer: as if, friend, this is just a business, we will continue to work so that your company receives a profit, and you, the manager, get your annual bonus, but due to some nuances, "I" (the sanctioned company) will provide you with orders from various of its companies that are not under sanctions, but all the document flow will be duplicated through me (well, this is very simplified). And the chip seller agrees, and when the regulatory authorities come and say that you are selling your products to sanctioned companies, they show documents that their products were bought by some unknown companies and that after the ban by the state body, they will usually stop selling products to them. Then the representative of the sanctioned companies comes again and provides a new list of companies... and so on in a circle.

      I want the US to massively increase our material and technical support of Ukraine but it's so hard getting just ordinary people I talk to in real life to understand even the basic aspects of this conflict, and the statements Donald Trump has made about Ukraine in recent is a combination of insanity and hatespeech. What would you count as us no longer being bystanders?

      @@johnboy6594 Ukraine doesn't need a gagglefuck of people not fluent in the language with no prior military experience. There are foreign fighters but most of the ones that actually stayed had significant skills that could be applied in cohesive anglophone units or had subject matter expertise applicable to training duties. Ukraine needs more fighter jets, long range precision guided munitions, air defense systems, electronic warfare systems, mortar bombs and howitzer shells, utility helicopters, combat engineering vehicles and other systems that can facilitate assaults through minefields. It's in the United States and European Union's ability to provide all of those things. They do benefit from volunteer workers providing tradesman skills, medical support, and logistical tasks, but the Ukrainian military does not need people with no language fluency and no military training to waste their time.
