Among all available reviews what you mentioned in the vid are the most useful to me. I've noticed some iPad unique features from other reviewers but without such specific explain as you do. Thanks a lot!
Always great to get your take on new stuff. I’ve been subscribed and been watching for years but finally just wanted to comment and say thanks for all your good work and spirit Chris.
Your video made me think Xcode on iPad won't be 100% but the iPad version would be very unique that could make you miss the iPad version when using Mac,And vice versa
I’m guessing the external hard drive is an update away of some kind. Yes, ideally we can have both iPad and Mac, but if I can’t afford to get both (definitely not all in one shot). This and especially Logic Pro means I might just go for iPad Pro next year
I have used an iPad as my only computer device for ten years now, and I have been hoping that it could be a real pro device. I have been waiting for final cut pro to come to the iPad so I could make videos without having to go to the MacBook. I actually bought an m1 MacBook air and it sat in the box unopened for a year because I just didn't want to be forced to use it. I enrolled in an online university to learn computer animation, I'm getting my bachelors degree over the course of 27 months. The school gave me Microsoft 365 for free and I thought I could do everything on my iPad but I soon learned that the features I needed in word and PowerPoint we're not available for the iPad. I had to break down and open up the mscbook and try to figure out how to use it. The trackpad really gave me a lot of grief until I watched some videos on how to use it. Now I start my work on the iPad and finish them on the MacBook. I'm starting to like the MacBook but I only use it for work. The iPad is my first choice for just about everything and mac apps are really expensive compared to the iPad. My MacBook is only 128 gb of storage whereas my iPad has 1tb and I have over 16,000 photos in it. I just like the whole flow of the ipsd it's simple yet powerful sleek and portable I hate the magic keyboard and really just wasted my money on purchasing it because I have only used it once and was not impressed. I love the apple pencil and use it for everything. Now I find myself trying to touch the screen of the MacBook and not understanding why it isn't working.
Ive would LOVE to ditch my Macbook Pro 14 for a 12.9 iPad Pro for Video Editing. I just need all of my Motion Effects to transfer over, I've spent to much time making some and too much money paying for some to not have them. Also External SSD support.
I only dont understund why it dosen't work on my iPad Pro 12.9 from 2018. Its compatible with the 11 inch but not with the 12.9. Same chip same year. :(
Amazing that Apple won’t let me install this on my iPad Mini 6 or my iPad Pro 10.5”. Not enough horsepower I guess as far as Apple is concerned yet I edit 4k videos all day long on both devices with LumaFusion.
No, it's £50 a year. If they offered a LTD as well, then I would prolly buy. But I'm not having another subscription for something I already have on Mac.
Exactly. Also if you do the $50 a year, it will take 6 YEARS to match the one time cost of Final Cut for Mac. Plus if you are a professional and use this for work, you’ll make that back in no time
I have iPad Pro M2 with 512GB storage so not being able to edit from an external drive is a show stopper for me. I am confused. If I am editing a new Project (Project 1) then I will need to import ALL the footage I need to edit the timeline. Then export the project and delete all the footage from the iPad to work on a new Project (Project 2). Now, I want to I make more edits to Project 1 so I do WHAT. Export Project 2, delete all of its media then reload Project 1 and reimport all of its media into the exact same structure that it was originally imported to? Does not seem possible.
No external storage support is garbage. Why does every review brush that off like it’s nothing? We all need the 2Tb ipad now? Even that’s not enough for some projects. 🤦🏽♂️
Thanks for the video. Have you found a way to record voiceovers right in the program instead of importing a file for them? I have not seen anyone addressing this question and I can’t find a path to do it within the software.
Feels like not being able to use an external drive is a deal breaker. You will have to offload files from finished projects even with the largest memory capacity iPad. Which means re-linking anytime you want to to open the project on a different device. I suppose if it is saved in the cloud you can open it, assuming you connection to the internet. Then of course it becomes an issue of having enough cloud storage, which translates into more money for Apple. Lol
Being able to import and export projects to external media actually means Apple ISN’T trying to force people to by higher storage iPads. It’s a good thing. It means my 256GB M1 iPad Pro 11 will work JUST FINE with FCP-no new $2,000 iPad required. That’s actually a wonderful thing. All I need (and already have) is a high-capacity external SSD and my modest iPad becomes a completely reasonable FCP editing device.
I don’t see how to record voiceovers in app which I want. Also working files on SSD is better in my opinion. I work better with my file structure than putting everything on the project. Seems better for short content. It’s as if Apple has made this for people who have a Mac. I do all my content work on iPad. Maybe they will do more updates.
I been trying to edit a 8k 30fps on my iPad Pro M2 with FPCX and it doesn’t even playback, but if I open the same Video on the same iPad with Davinci Resolve I have no issues at all, the playback it’s really smooth, If by the end of my trial they don’t fix that I’m gonna cancel it.
Such an apple move to NOT allow external drives. Overcharge for internal storage and not allow an extra external SSD, LumaFusion seems to have this option why not Apple
True but at the price that it is, it's affordable as hell for people who can't really drop $300 all at once. Plus the developers continue getting supported, so faster updates
@@christianr.5868 True, I've got nothing against subscription models for people who can't afford a one time payment. It's just nice to have the option to in some sense own your software, not having to think about recurring payments, etc.
I think it’s a great first version,I agree it’s better than I had anticipated.I would love to see a direct link to Logic Pro.(like in affinity)let’s hope they keep improving and updating it,Apple historically has not been that great at that with FC.
XXX VOICEOVER XXX. OK, bought new iPad Pro (M2). Entered and edited several travel videos using Final Cut Pro iPad. Now I just need to do the voiceover. OOPS. Can’t find any way to do that from within FCP. My $300 DJI mic does not work with iPad (without using several adapters in series). So - I guess I will have to redo the videos in LumaFusion and do the voiceover directly there. Did I miss somthing?? Yeah, I know I can use the DJI mic on my iPhone, use some third party app to record the audio, save the audio to files. Transfer the files to my iPad, then drag the audio files into FCP and then redo the whole process to make audio edits
@@nashsanadiki3104 from what I’m seeing and hearing on the reviews, it’s not really a stripped down version. Still pro software and it needs to use features like memory swapping which only m1and up iPads have. My new iPad just came in the mail a few minutes ago. Excited to try this out
I got it today and I’m enormously disappointed. Lumafusion kicks it’s tail. Titles and overlays are cheesy and not customizable. If plugins come it will be slightly better but I’m still not satisfied
Apple internal storage is insanely overpriced. That from the hardware sellers perspective seems like they are nudging you to pay for that, When other software editors don't have a dog in that hunt. So would you have to delete that project once you upload it be an option I'm sure you would need to dump that footage or load it back on the card and delete it from the internal storage.

To name just two problems for pro users. I get it it’s a market strategy but they don’t deserve being praised for that.

Too bad it's subscription based and not a one time buy deal like it is on the Mac. Worth mentioning, as that's a deal breaker for a lot of people.

All subscription based apps gets updates more often and quality updates
this is not even close to the mac version, a regular app that costs nothing more per month
What annoys me is it's only subscription based and not a one-time fee.

Logic is just audio which is way less cpu/gpu intensive so requires less power. Final Cut is obviously a much more powerful app
