Captain Charisma & The Problem Solver were a great duo.
Really wish they could’ve done more in wwe
Miss those days
You mean life partner lol
I’m just gonna say “the problem solver” is one of the best wrestling monikers.
Damn straight!
No doubt. Tells exactly what his role is.
FACTS
Its a modern classic much like the Enforcer was for Dbl A
‘The only problem you solve is being Christian’s life partner’
-Cena 2005
The Christian / Tomko time period of TNA was when I was actually really into it.
TNA with Christian's Coalition - Christian Cage, Tomko and AJ styles. Great times.
Tomko had a moment in TNA when he looked like a Breakout Star alongside Frankie Kazarian but Dixie Carter squandered both like only she could … 🤷🏿♂️
The rumor has always been that Tomko had major drug problems hence why TNA got of rid of him.
@@jessepaiz6356 Jeff Hardy? Don't give me his a star response
@@DoubleThinkFan then you aren't being realistic. Hardy was a draw, so he got extra chances.
Kazarian never did. He was Michael Shane's side kick, then Raven's whipping boy, then AJs sidekick, then Daniels' sidekick.
He just isn't very good. He's decent, but no one you'd want to build a show around.
I don't remember Kazarian being particularly over but I do remember Lance Hoyt (Archer) having his own section of fans in the Impact Zone.
"Tomko give me a beat."
"No."
That's all you need to know regarding Tomko.
I dont get it
@@jonathonholifield5900 did you even watch the video? It's brought up towards the end of it.
Yeah my bad dude I just finished watching
I wish I had seen that. I bet it was f****** hilarious
Christian at his best, IMO.
Tomko was great especially with Christian!
And with AJ Styles when they formed Christian's Coalition
His life partner lol
@@AcornSmokes420 haha you still remember it 🤣 Think it was the Y2J segment, one of the best and underrated segments. Christian's character overshadowed Cena completely in that segment which not many could do in 2005 as Cena was so over.
What else was there for Tomko?
@@TheGreatVivek7 I was a kid at the Time aka I’m 30 now lol fun times
Christian and Tomko were great together in both WWE and TNA.
Christian made him look a million bucks. Tomko was just one of them acts who didn’t have to say anything. It was like Bastia next to Flair & Triple H. You know the new guys who show potential, but WWE never capitalizes on them and usually drops the ball.
I totally forgot about this guy wow... yeah he should've been a bigger deal.
Would've been big in wwe, but sadly like the rest he was buried by a certain mcmahon
He was just another big guy during a time that had a lot of big guys
@@maxwellpeter5955 He was not buried at all. He had no promo, no charisma, couldn't work, and never got over.
@@DUB_87 Didn't a few wrestlers complain about his finish? That spinning Chokeslam thing? I'm pretty certain one of the people who complained about it was Jericho.
Lol that "no" was hilarious.
Freakin hilarious!
Tomko's mostly known for 2 things:
"Tomko, give me a beat!"
and getting into a parking lot argument with Scott Steiner yelling at him "shut up Ned!!"
YESSSS
Exactly what I was going to write, he was good with Christian.
3 things. "Being Christian's life partner."
Those cena Christian backstage ppv interactions were great, the benefits of the brand split
GET MA BAGS GET MA BAGS
Was in a good tag team with albert in Japan.
His yakuza kick was over
"Tomko, gimme a beat."
*pause*
"No."
Cena and Christian rapping was the '05 Rumble. "I'm Captain Charisma, read 'em and weeps, and I'm gonna take you down, for all of my peeps." (Something like that.)
Tomko had moments in Impact that were awesome - should have given him a chance
But, they gave him Vince Russo on booking... Talk about, unfair...
Tomko was a cool dude. He would show up around the Florida shows around 06 and was pretty kind to younger guys.
Finally. I never hear ANYONE talk about Tomko
The story about him robbing that Pharmacy was fucking crazy.
He can return as the "Drugstore Cowboy" Travis Tomko.
Forreal
That initial chuckle by Jim was gold.
Tomko grew up near me in Jacksonville. We all used to get stoned together back in the 90's. He's a few years older than me but he always looked out for a few of us younger guys back in the day. Haven't talked to him in years though. Would be awesome to see him again. He became a bodygaurd for Limp Bizkit and we never saw him again after that until we saw him on television wrestling. Seems like only yesterday but I was probably 17 the last time I saw him and I'm 41 now. Miss those days so much. Scary how quickly the time goes.
Tyson Tomko, Heidenreich, Luther Reigns, Snitsky…
All interchangeable.
Vince Russo has killed as many young careers as steroids and drugs.
Totally, he should of been more like Cornette and Prichard and have guys like Steve Austin be the ring master or have triple h be a rich spoiled kid
@@smarkssucks1601 besides both of those gimmicks coming from McMahon, Cornette didn't become a full time member of the WWF creative until mid 96 due to his obligations to SMW.
But fewer than Chief Jay Strongbow
Christian was over like rover in '05. His pairing with "The Problem Solver" ran smooth like butter.
Can you imagine Tomko debut in AEW with Christian Cage as his enforcer against his enemies?
no because that would be dumb
I'd prefer it!! Christian is a great heel!
There’s too many groups, tag teams, and alike in AEW. And too many old guys.
I thought he was dead
He looks unrecognizable now
I have to disagree with Jim on that one Sean O'Hara was one of the most talented guys in the business at one point that devil's advocate gimmick that he had that s*** was gold man he looked good he look intimidating he was badass Tyson tomko was all right but he's his work was not that good I don't know what the hell he was looking at I mean he had a few okay matches he worked in Japan with Albert and became tag team champions down there they had a good match with the shinsuke Nakamura and goto
😂😂 you 🤡
Did Russo fill his video store with movies that no one wanted to see, too?
I kinda liked Tomko. I liked how when him and Christian were a duo and Tomko interfered in a match and The King would be like "he's a problem solver JR. Don't you have problems that need solving?" lol
That was Royal Rumble 2005, and it waz HILARIOUS
I remember the "tomko, give me a beat" segment too. I think it was in the royal rumble event backstage where they would draw a number from the lotto thing. The segment didn't end there, Christian did rap a bit. It's one of those segments that you remember even though you never talk about it 👌. Christian was really good at that time, though, Brian got that one right
That was one of several backstage skits, cross brand ppv backstage, they were supposed to feud when cena came to raw, but jericho took over that angle as he was leaving wwe
@@darylcatpiss yup. Dont know about him being supposed to feud with christian instead of jericho, but i remember that too. Good times xD
Travis Tomko served no jail time for robbing a CVS pharmacy of its oxycodone. If the average American did that, they'd be looking at a minimum 5 years in the state pen. All he had to do was check into rehab. Tomko must have had a great lawyer.
If I'm not mistaken, he was Tag Team Champs in both TNA and New Japan at the same time.
Highly underrated.
4:10 And thus the "Tomko: No" meme was born
Tomko never gotten passed that sidekick bodyguard gimmick.
Being in the business drove some people nuts. But it kept some( such as Tomko) stable, or out of Trouble.
Funny I was just watching some Disciples of Synn vs Leviathan matches last night
Tyson Tomko > Tyson Chicken
That Tomko "No" was a meme for years.
Scrolling down and just by the thumbnail i thought this would be "Jim's thoughts on Pantera's Phil Anselmo" haha...
Batista and Tomko were a team in OVW. Imagine Sean O'Haire with them. They would look like 3 brothers.
I remember about him being in Japan with Aj-Styles. Tomko speak fluent Japanese and spoke with a Japanese to know where a temple or place was. Once he knew, Tomko say Arigatô gozaimasu (Thank you) and AJ could only say "Yeah, thanks" ^^.
I liked Tomko, whenever it was when Christian ask Tomko to do him a beat (like Bryan said) and Tomko said no to his TNA venture who was pretty good especially when he came from the crowd to attack sting and help Christian.
Awesome artwork by Travis Heckel
We know that . Dude could draw warts on his own wee wee and you guys would giggle like school girls .
@jeffmac9642 remember when Tyson tomko was with christian in WWE that was great lol the fact that brian didn't know that tomko was in WWE with christian and jim knew that made me laugh lol.
……just looked up “Tomko give me a beat”
Short, but Sweet.
Would actually love to hear more about the disciples of synn on the show
Cornette needs to take back his comment about Sean O Haire being a mental case, Sean took his own life, that is uncalled for!
I was an Impact Zone goer for years. Tomko was super over.
No he wasn't. He never drew a dime. Lmao!
Morgan and Tomko could have been a money feud. There were hints of it, but shame on tna for not realizing the value of their wrestlers
bruh... was literally talking about this a couple days ago.
The unfortunate stories for a lot of wrestlers when Russo was "writing" the crowd is desperately wanting something and does the complete opposite because the fans "will never see it coming". And then any momentum the wrestler had is gone forever
Remember Tomko saying No?
Peppridge Farms remembers
Another big guy that comes to mind for some reason is Test. Both if the men mentioned had amazing potential and even bigger moments in store, but they seem to have been in unfortunate circumstances.
TNA had a history of turning the wrong guys heel. Making The Alpha Male Monty Brown a heel Jeff Jarrett flunky might’ve been their biggest mistake ever.
i wasn't muich a mistake as it was a miss opportunity to with the alpha male Serengeti gimmick. the moment jeff started losing control of TNA looking weak is when the alpha male gimmick should have run wild. like scar in lion king monty brown should have held the title until angle or samoa joe have been built up
Monty Brown is the biggest missed opportunity of his generation. He could have and should have been bigger than Bobby Lashley.
I'm not sure if anyone knows this but Tomko was doing Security for Limp Bizkit for a while either before or after his wrestling career.
Right when Brian said he remembered a segment that popped him with Tomko in WWE, I immediately thought of when Christian said "give me a beat" and Tomko said no. That's awesome. It was hilarious. Also, I became a huge Christian fan in this era and he should have been pushed to the next level right then and there. He was ready and was a fantastic heel. He should be a heel in AEW too. So good at it and natural.
What are the odds of a Tomko Video? This is Wardlow’s future if AEW messes him up.
He used to manage a gym in FL. if you left a negative Yelp review on it, he got real pissy
The only thing I remember about Tomko is his shitty embarrasing match with Stevie Richards. It felt like one of these segments designed to make Vince laugh because Stevie was wearing dress for some reason.
>Sean O' Haire but could work
Sean was a beast of a worker i don't know what you're talking about Cornette
Exactly. He was a guy that had it all in my opinion. He should have been a major star.
Sean O'Haire was a tall, athletic guy who could do a bunch of stuff but none of it mattered.
Jim aint lieing. TNA also dropped the ball on Monty Brown when Jeff Jarret Buried him
Tyson Tomko was a BEAST. Was underrated and misused in WWE. He should've turned on Christian in 2004-2005.
Tomko and Christian were amazing together
That segment was at the royal rumble
The segment Brian's thinking of was at the 2005 Royal Rumble.
"Swerve, bro."
Russo had a match booked where the winner would earn the services of Tomko for the Lockdown match between Team Angle and Team Cage. Kurt Angle won and that was the beginning of Tomko’s baby face turn but randomly for no reason at all Tomko entered the ring, attacked Kurt and joined Team Cage anyway. And right enough as Jim says, Tomko never got the same level of baby face reaction again
I just googled tomko. Holy hell he looks like a damn full grown man. He looks like he and the briscoes would be a psycho faction that would make the NWO and dx and the shield look like little children.
He is a full grown man. Did you think he was a child?
I found the clip. Christian still ended up rapping tho.
The Christian Coalitian angle was actually really good. AJ and Christian were so annoying and stupid, that Tomko got over as a baby face by literally just standing there next to them. I have always wondered if he didnt get turned face because of his personal problems were too much were they couldnt trust him as a high up the card babyface.
Tomko rise of popularity in TNA was one of those organic things that rarely happens in wrestling. To be honest, he was one of those WWE castaways who was biding his time waiting for Vince to call him to come back. He just so happen to luck up and got hot in another promotion at the time and he went back as soon as possible. Good guy tho, he just should stayed and been the big fish in the little pond.
He had the look. That’s it. lol
Tomko did have a great look, unfortunately it was so good that a lot other guys had the exact same jacked bald dude with a goatee in black trunks with all the same tattoos as every other guy “look”
he use to shop in the grocery store i worked at. he was a pretty cool dude, would talk with the staff everytime he came in to store.
Brian remembered my favorite Tomko moment.
TOMKO give me a beat! No..
I remember this like it was yesterday 😂
Wow tomko is Travis heckel
I found out my grandpa is gonna pass away any day now I’m glad Jim Cornette’s podcast can cheer me up a bit while I’m going through a tough time
Late but sorry for your loss
4:08 🤣
I know at one point tomko and AJ turned on Christian and Tomko and AJ Styles the tag matches at least twice I know for a fact w o n them twice as team cage AJ and Tomko where the ones that ended up feudin cuz I Believe Christian came back to WWE Styles were to time
I loved that jump off turnbuckle clothesline he used to do.
I remember him from his tna days when he was aj styles tag team partner
Iight this is getting egregious. Where’s Jim’s thoughts on Kurt Angle? I know he missed his wwf/e prime because he didn’t watch but I need to hear him shoot on 🐐 Angle & possibly we should get a watch along
Tomko's rise to popularity was organic, which doesn't happen too often, usually we're told who to cheer and boo. Love the Diesel/HBK reference, same thing. WHY WOULDN'T YOU CAPITALIZE ON THAT?!?! What the fuck, man! Oh well, it is what it is, and I'm glad Tomko is coming out of the other side on his battle with addiction. Best wishes, Tomko. Good insight from The Great Brian Last, and The Louisville Loudmouth, The Mommas Boy, Mr. James E. Cornette!
Tomko was a great bodyguard for AJ and fit better with him than Omos. Also enjoyed him with Trish Stratus.
Tomko intimidating? I mean, he literally looks like Satan...
Him and prince AJ were gold in TNA. Then again everything AJ does is just about amazing lol. He was one of the few guys that legit looked like he could hurt you
Any viscera story's
Bain was fucking underrated and should’ve been World champ!
Wanted to see Tomko vs Luther Reigns, battle if the bodyguards.
I never liked him ever from the moment I saw him. I dunno why. I just did not want him on my TV and thought he was the worst. But I felt the same way about Batista and now I miss the big lug. Sometimes I’m wrong.
As a Fan Tyson was legit and someone you could believe that will whip your ass but oh well
I liked Tomko
I thought Tomko looked great and wondered why he didn’t get more of a push. He was a big guy who could move well. Sad to hear about his drug addiction. Sadly it comes with that job, it doesn’t help that you have a bunch of partiers and drug addicts also working for the company. Can’t get clean if you are hanging out with users and had drugs and alcohol all around you.
A little known bit of trivia. Tomko was the first person to ever pin Samoa Joe in Impact. It happened in a tag match iirc. Unfortunately TNA made nothing of it.
Curious case. Had what was needed 🤷♂️
Tomko was awesome
Didn’t he stick up a pharmacy for prescription drugs a few years back
Tomko and Christian made a great duo in wwe and tna
Tomko did good with what he was given
Well when your on a roster deep af. Its tough. These days he would do great.
I liked Tomko, I think he might've gotten some of Christian's greatness rubbed off on him too, but neither WWE nor TNA knew what the fuck they were doing with him, hell, WWE didn't know what they were doing with Christian and he was fucking great in 2004-5 in spite of that, loved the Cena - Christian back and forth.
Nah, actually it's the other way around. They had Christian and AJ Styles both turn face and Tomko betray them both when they did in order to support Kurt Angle and stay heel. Y'know, instead of just having all three of them go face, feud with Angle and Team 3D, and break off amicably whilst they're all over with the crowd.
