I am confused everyone seems to be thinking that Trump, if elected, could straight up impose tariff on cars made on Mexico, but there is a little thing called the USMCA free trade agreement, so he would need to show a serious reason for bypassing it, like a national security issue or the Mexican government doing so majorly unfair practices, etc.

@@WarrenRedlich I did some research and no the president cannot easily impose tariffs on cars from Mexico and here is what I found.
No, the U.S. president cannot easily impose tariffs on cars imported from Mexico. There are several significant barriers and considerations:
      1. USMCA Agreement: The United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) generally prohibits new tariffs on goods traded between member countries, including cars from Mexico.
      2. Congressional Authority: While presidents have some trade powers, Congress has constitutional authority over foreign commerce and tariffs. Significant changes to trade policy often require congressional approval.
      3. Legal Challenges: Unilateral imposition of tariffs would likely face domestic and international legal challenges.
      4. Economic Consequences: Such tariffs could disrupt supply chains, increase costs for U.S. consumers, and potentially lead to retaliatory measures from Mexico.
      5. International Obligations: Imposing tariffs could violate World Trade Organization (WTO) rules, leading to potential disputes.
      6. Limited Presidential Powers: While presidents can use certain trade laws (like Section 232 for national security) to impose tariffs, these have specific criteria and are not meant for broad application.
      7. Diplomatic Repercussions: Such an action could strain diplomatic relations with Mexico and other trading partners.
While a president might attempt to impose tariffs through executive action, it would not be a simple or unchallenged process. Any such move would likely involve complex legal, economic, and political battles.

Warren, when you get a house/condo of your own consider buying a water cooler (~4300tb) from Makro and use a weekly delivery service for the 19 liter blue/green bottles at 50tb. Good quality drinking water. I signed up with the Neptune delivery service, but there are many to choose from, so just ask your neighbors. No more plastic bottles to recycle.

Bruv, you live in Thailand and you don't recognize how huge the sex trade is or the smells or the traffic? I vacation in Thailand all the time, there are prostitutes EVERYWHERE and the sewer smell is kind of an Asian thing, even here in Korea where I live and over in Japan, and all the scooters zipping in and out with a family of 4 and some chickens on the back? Granted Vietnam is worse, but I would be willing to bet 100 shares of TSLA that a lot more ppl die in traffic accidents in Thailand than the US. Maybe you live a sheltered life there. I think you might still be in the honeymoon phase regarding living a different country. All that said, it is cool living outside of America though, isn't it? Been in Korea for 23 years.
