Thanks for the review. It’s very informative and accessible. I have never worn either Nike or Adidas (Endorphin pro one was as far as I got. I assumed my wide feet wouldn’t work for Nike or Adidas at first) until this month. I decided to go with Adizero pro 3 + Talumi sem 8 combo. Mostly because of value for money (I got the two in a bundle for AU$300). Took Adizero on a long aerobic threshold run - 21km at 4:35/km pace and Takumi Sen 8 for an interval 1km 3:45/km pace. First impression - very happy with both shoes. Springy, responsive and light. On the way back from my workout, found myself saying “this is why people wear Nike and Adidas.” I’ve been quite happy with my Saucony Endorphin pro and speed. But the adidas pairing seem to outperform when it comes to speed & performance. Though comfort and plushness is better with Saucony.

I’ll admit I’m hesitant to try the Takumi Sen 9 as my 3K-5K racer. While I did have good experience performance-wise with the 8, it was just way too narrow and uncomfortable for my wide feet. The Streakfly, while not as fast or propulsive as the Sens, is much more comfortable for both fit and feel. My internal debate now is whether to stick to my tried and true Streakfly for my races or splurge and get the Vaporfly 3. While the VF may be faster, I’m not sure how significant it will be. The AP3 is a very high platform and LSP is very firm... so yes, no good. It is where I think Adidas designed the Takumi Sen series to handle twisty courses.
I disagree as to the Alphafly not being responsive. I do find it noisy, but it does respond well, and when pushed, this shoe feels like running on springs. I am a forefoot runner with slight leveling and more leveling when tired. You can run hard and long in the Alphafly and feel like you ran half the distance because your legs are just not as beat-up. On the other hand, the Vaporfly has an edge at shorter distances, especially the version 2 of the shoe, simply due to being lighter. For marathon distance, Alphafly can't be beat.
I would have agreed with your thoughts… when we had the VF1/2… which is why I opted for the AF2 for my races in 2022. Also everything you said is why I do like the AF2 for long runs in a marathon build (though I’m no longer even using it for this anymore). Overall I’ve spent a lot of time in both the AF and AF2. But the VF3 changed all of this. It’s the better fitting, more versatile and much faster shoe that gives you MOST of benefits of the AF2 with much less bulk. I understand what Nike is doing with the AF line. It’s their ultimate marathon racer, like what adidas is doing with the AP line… and I’m hopeful for the AF3. But the VF3 is the king for Nike racing right now… at all distances. Though I will accept personal preference applies here… but I don’t know a single person (in my running circle and on the boundaries) who was running still running in a AF2 over the VF3. Even one of my hardcore AF lover friends, who boarded AF1 versions in fear of never getting them again… has switched the the VF3 for all training and racing.
Excellent analysis. But none of those have a racing flat feel. The closest is the takumi sen. If you want a racing flat feel, use a racing flat. Just be ready for that racing flat pain afterwards 😂👍
Agree… the TS9 is the most close but in 2023 few are looking for a real racing flat feel. It looks as if the Adios 8 will be that… so I can’t wait to give that a try! Thank you for the kind words!

Hmmm....endorphin elite is better than all of these.
That is the beauty of having lots of options out there… finding what works for you.
For me, Saucony just doesn’t work… at all. At all!
So the Takumi sen 9 is full of faults. The Alphafly 2 is like running in mud. The Pro 3 has lots of issues especially the upper. You're talking about some of the best shoes ever sold. You'll never like anything basically! You've been bought and sold by Vaporfly!!!
Ok… you got me. Vaporfly definitely bought me. Damn, I was hoping no one would figure that out. 💰
@@SagasuRunning You really need to lighten up on the criticism. I follow 4 other run shoe testers and not a single one is as picky and fault finding as you. I never ever leave comments but this had to be done. Your reviews are pointless because every shoe is crap according to you, essentially. I will educate you. The Alphafly 2 is a fantastic shoe 10 kms to marathon. The Takumi Sen 9 is a fantastic shoe 1 km to half marathon. The Pro 3 is great at any distance. The Prime X Strung is amazing for smooth hard good surfaces over 10 kms to ultra marathon distances. None of them are the rubbish you claim them to be and i will leave it there and stop following you as you are so far off the truth in 90% of what you say. Honestly, i've never said this to anyone but you talk utter nonsense almost all the time dudey. Bye.
@@SagasuRunning They sure have, clear to see. Open your eyes and your mind wider pal.
@@christopheredale9135 I love the AP3 midsole (upper not so much) and the Metaspeed Sky+ is a great shoe (which I may even race in this fall)… but neither hold a candle to the Vaporfly 3. I have an open mind but there are alot of bad shoes out there in the “super shoe” category…
You'll never be content with any shoe. I've never seen anyone so critical. You'll be telling us there are no good Italian sports cars next!
Well… German cars are quite a bit better… 🏎️
@@SagasuRunning Not as sports cars they are not. I know i've owned plenty of both. Company cars? Yep i will give you that one. SPORTS cars? Forget it. Even the very best 911 is a posh Beetle with the engine in the wrong place. MID engine is where the best sports cars carry their power! 🙂
@@christopheredale9135 If you want to talk mid engine cars, Ayrton Senna developed a masterpiece in the Honda NSX 30’years ago. I’m an F1 fan and respect Ferrari’s legacy and racing heritage… but the other flashy Italian cars or wanna be Ferraris are not in the same league. I agree mid engine is the optimal sports car layout… but RR layout is fun to drive as it RWD… so German cars again. Just sayin’.
