That pull star technique at 24:30 actually works greas.
I started a few cars this way when i didn't have battery power.
      Firs turn on the ignition,
Then put the gear in the second or third (depending on the car). Dont bother trying on the first gear.
Twist some rope around the weel, and pull 😉.

A large VW dealership near me had an accident happen a few decades ago.
They had lifted a car with a small forklift like that one (for cars you really should use far larger and wider ones) and with it tipping over, it hit one of the bridges that had another car on it, which in turn made the bridge anchor bolts sheer and the bridge tip over, into the bridge next to it.
This chained into all 10 bridges in their shop, almost all of them having a car on them, being pushed over and the cars on them being wrecked.
Doing something like this, you're not just endangering the idiots standing under the car, the car and the forklift, it has the potential to destroy your whole shop, having a bunch of multi ton pieces of metal flying about.
It's many degrees beyond just dangerous.

To help you guys out-- I was a painter for a few years, and the whole "buckets stuck together" thing happens a lot in that field, too, as one might imagine. Put simply, all you have to do is break the seal between the two buckets; they're flexible enough where you could easily fit a wrench or other narrow tool between (we usually used a 5-in-1). With the vacuum broken, the buckets slide right apart.

    • @muthaz1952
      @muthaz1952 10 месяцев назад +3

Happens a lot with pool guys also, I was a painter for a while and remodeling guy, lots of buckets. Use a blower, a vacuum in reverse, or a compressor with a air nozzle, and blow air between the buckets. Don't have your head over it just in case. I've done something like this with swimming pool filters that are steel or stainless steel tanks with a big rubber o ring. Remove the clamp, drain out a little water, maybe 1/3, and then turn on the pump. You gotta be very careful, and have a good ear and eye for it, and put a hand or something draped over the lid to keep it from flying into anything above the tank, or go into low orbit. Definitely don't have your head over this. Don't even think about doing this... The information is for illustration purposes only. I used to train people at that job, and very rarely ever found someone I could teach that.

    • @enlightendbel
      @enlightendbel 8 месяцев назад +19

It's the same issue everywhere. Corporations don't let engineers and mechanics or drivers talk, causing insane issues.
My neighbor drives for the national public transport service.
Every time some desk jockey designs new routes, the first driver that sees it sees 1001 issues with the new route, their feedback is ignored, the route is put in action and within a month it gets changed repeatedly because it simply doesn't work the way the engineers envisioned it.
A year later, same issue all over.
There was a period between 2005-2010 where the engineers had to go on bustrips with drivers to test out new routes and write down the issues, which caused new routes being implemented having to undergo fairly few changes.
But then some politician came up and said they'd streamline the process and fucked it all up again.

I have to disagree with the crew and guests here; that truck is pushing well over 100psi I'd say. 60psi isn't unrealistic on a decently built Cummins in a Dodge/RAM. A stock X15 probably pushes 40psi with a factory tune. My detuned DD15 made 35ish.
I'd say it's making well over 4000ftlb of torque at the crank considering a stock will make 2000.

Some good advice for avoiding "money shifts"
    1. Maintain your engine and transmission mounts, or replace them with firmer aftermarket bushes
    2. Replace shifter linkage bushings, especially on FWD cars with trans-axles, as they directly control where you're actually putting the shifter
    3. Avoid absurdly shot, short-shift kits, as they reduce the accuracy of your shifter

Dude, those are cross drilled and slotted rotor's. They are worn so bad the slots are pretty much gone. So the idea that those cross drilled holes aren't packed with brake and metal dust? What he's doing in drilling the build up out so they can actually vent again. So yeah, it's doing something. A hack? No. Pointless? Again, no. Idiotic? Yes. Just replace the obviously worn out rotors. How can you call yourself a car guy and not see those are excessively worn cross frilled and slotted rotors. How can you not envision just how packed those holes would be with that much wear? Especially if they were using low quality pads. Judging by the amount of wear on that rotor, low quality pads would not surprise me.
Still, I love these videos. Sandro and Ang are my favorites.

Guy with the fire extinguisher. His technique was shoddy, but that isn't why they couldn't kill the fire. The fuel was leaking out, so now the whole damn fuel line is on fire. When you try to kill the base of the fire, the fuel that is pouring down that is also lit just reignites the base of the fire again. So, the guy would have to just vary between aiming at the top of the fire where there is now a secondary source and the bottom of the fire. But he would need like three fire extinguishers and maybe two people blasting them so that they can target both sources at the same time.

The first clip sorta happened to me. I had my ecm reprogrammed by a "professional" and they changed my rev limiter from 7,000 to 9,500, which I didn't want nor did they inform me they changed it. A week later during a hard acceleration my tires broke loose in 2nd gear on a damp interstate on-ramp. Instantly my RPMs jumped from 5,000 to pinned(my tach only goes to about 7,500), then boom bang clunk clunk clunk clunk followed by the sound of muffled crying.
The shop tried saying they didn't change rev limiter but the idiots forgot I told them there's a 2 cameras in the car, it recorded them talking to each other. Not only did they talk about changing it but it also recorded them revving it in neutral way past 7,500. Also recorded them smoking weed and cigarettes in my car while taking it for a joyride around town for over an hour and run errands, pickup food and eating it in my car. At every light or stop sign they floored it spinning the tires. Which also explains why I had like no traction on the damp roads the day it blew up.
Long story short I got my attorney ex-girlfriend to send them a letter basically stating they are getting sued for $70,000 to buy a new car.
They got an attorney to fight but when their attorney seen the video of them abusing my car and basically acting like douchebags and they were told I was going to upload the video to RUclips, Twitter and give it to the local news and police since they recorded themselves breaking about 20 different traffic laws. They immediately settled for $40,000 + my attorney's fees, which she was doing it for free but I told if they're paying then charge me double what you normally charge, because f*ck them. They have zero respect for other people or others property.
And NO, I can't show the video or name the shop, that was part of the settlement. Doesn't matter though so many people found out just from word of mouth they ended closing down less than a year later.
So I highly recommend all of you put a camera in your car that records inside your car even when the car is off that activates when it detects people or movement. That $300 camera saved me thousands of dollars.

Yah thats just a shitty situation because the fluid leaking will never stop fueling the fire. Your pretty much screwed until what ever is leaking empties out of the tank. If I had to guess and seeing where the fire came from it looked like it was near the fuel tank. Figure an average car has between 10 and 15 gallons at any one time in the tank depending on what size it is. Thats a LOT of fuel and it'll take a lot of work to snuff it out. Other problem is that the vapors are what are burning if it is fuel...so unless you can smother it it'll just keep off gassing and igniting. The guy with the extinguisher did everything he could but its just a never ending fire that cant be extinguished.

Also, it's one thing to have all that stuff memorized in your head but it's a completely different thing to see a problem and to figure out what could cause that problem! You can compare it with Dr House: you have a bunch of "symptoms" and you have to use your knowledge but especially your experience, too, to figure out what could cause the problem. I find it fascinating to watch them analyse an issue, figure out what could cause that issue and then eliminate the wrong diagnosis, one by one until they know what it is...and then, finally, start fixing the problem, hoping their diagnosis is the right one!

So on the video at 11:55, the issue with that fire is that oil or some other flammable liquid is dripping out of the car and the fire just climbs up it. The guy with the fire extinguisher is pretty much dealing with two fires at that point that are constantly feeding each other. If he puts out the ground fire first, flaming oil will just drip back onto it. If he puts out the fire in the car, the flames from the ground will just climb back up. Only way I could think they could've dealt with that is by getting a second extinguisher to deal with the other flame so both sources are put out.

Anything that requires pressure, (springs) electrical know-how, or lifting lots of weight (jacking a car up) is when its time to stop and think about what youre doing. Even if experienced. Thats how people end up headlines.
Since i brought up jacking a car up, dont trust a jack to not fail. Exoect them to. Use jack stands. Its always worth the extra time and set up.

Never try a push start in reverse. I've been party to that fiasco twice, neither time was starting it discussed with me beforehand. For background context I was part of a school sponsored auto club and we were building a couple of mud runners, one was a "Joker"; a late 80's chevy full size stripped down to cab, engine, and gas tank on shortened bare frame, suspension and tires. The other truck was another full size Chevy also 80's nothing stripped, this was the one involved in both our tales. Both times it wasn't turning over and we needed the stall for other cars and nobody else wanted to help me push. It was one of the times where being of a husky persuasion was a plus. First time it all went alright just a shock when the guy steering the truck while I was pushing it decided to crank it and it actually caught, I warned that if he tried it again I would hogtie him, hook him by his ankles to the back of my car and drag him until he stopped screaming. The second time was a different idiot with the same truck who wanted to see if I could do it twice. The truck lurched forward at me and died, luckily I was only knocked back instead of run over. He took off running asap and ran every time he saw me for a couple weeks after that.

I had a coworker at an unnamed oil change chain store start a fire on a subaru wrx by getting oil on a hot header, as the customer had just come off the highway to get there. I was trying to communicate that there was fire actively spreading in the engine bay coming up from down below, and asked my coworkers to grab me a fire extinguisher rather loudly since they were all just standing around watching the fire. I walked out that day after letting the customer know they should forward any repair bill for the damages to corporate and let them know what happened and never showed back up. They tried to ask me to come in for an exit interview after the manager threatened me on camera and in front of other staff and customers 😂
But oil and gas fires are no joke. They'll spread fast and burn so hot that you and anything it gets on is in serious trouble.
